in a nation founded by dead white men covered in the blood of other races,
White supremacy is the participation trophy one gets for being born “the right colour.”
The closer ones skin tone is to the ideal, the better they are treated.

I read that radicalizing only other white people is making things worse.
What lessons can I offer to people of colour that they cannot learn better elsewhere
Why should they listen to me, an outsider that cannot relate to their issues, whatever they are.

I would not tokenize a Black person to be my mouthpiece.
To be the puppet Anansi to my well intentioned Gaiman?
They deserve better than that.

What would Anansi say, were a Black man to give him voice,
instead of just semblance?
I would not dare to guess at the thoughts of another's God,
Let alone one from a group oppressed over centuries by people with my blood.

The sins of the father shall be passed on through the fourth generation,
A lesson I rebelled against while growing up Lutheran that I now embrace as a pagan.
The crimes of the past do not remain there, isolated.
Their effects ripple down through time.
