Jack is quite ready to get this done and over with, his slow walked had turned into a quick trot J: “It’d be best to get wherever I’m heading earlier into the day rather than later.” Opening and closing his jaw to relieve some tension, Jack peered into the distance, hoping to catch some glimpse of something, anything, and, surprisingly, he did “Mission is a go! I repeat, mission is a go!” allowing himself a little victory pose, he readied himself “Alright, so time to make a plan. Hmm… well since it’s only supp-” Out of the corner of his eye, Jack sees a bat-person flying just out of reach “Shit- they know I’m here. No time for plans, if they make one of those things while I’m just standing here? Uh uh.”

Jack preps his breath, firing it directly into the center of the castle, tearing a hole straight through it, or that was what Jack was expecting, instead it was stopped, and in a small area around the point of ‘impact’ a translucent yellow light revealed itself to Jack “A barrier? Well that makes this harder… I geuss I’ll just conserve some stamina for now.” Jack closes his mouth, shutting off the bright beam and without any contact, the yellow light quickly fades away. Looking around for something he can use, all Jack sees is the surrounding blue cone-shaped trees that cover most of the ground surrounding him and the building. “Huh, well, now that I’m looking at it. I don’t really know what it is, kinda looks like an oil rig…” behind it is a large mountain range that is curved around the backside of the building, with a cliff connecting to the top of it. “Guess I’ll just go around them? See if the barrier is on both sides.”

Like a predator hunting its prey, Jack gave the building a wide berth as he made a circle towards the mountain range, jumping up onto it and using his claws to make his own foot holds, his slime retracting from his claws for extra grip. Now on the top of the mountain range, he notices buildings extending out from places on the top of it “You’re kidding me...”

On the other side of the barrier, the head of defense for the Royal Palace was having a rather eventful day. Just the other day the soldiers from the south had arrived and brought the new, while he hadn’t believed them at first, the King had, and now he was glad he did, because just earlier that night scouts had returned with info about the monster’s position, it had taken residence in a local river, where it had seemingly stayed until the day judging from its current whereabouts right outside the palace. At first he had been worried by the monster’s bright beam of light it had shot at them, but the head force mage’s barrier held, powered by a giant crystal their ancestors had extracted from deep within the mountain range’s core. However, seeing the monster stare worried him, it seemed not only was it powerful, it was also capable of learning, instead of rushing the barrier, it had stalked it out, and started climbing the mountains, no doubt looking for a weak spot, which he had been assured didn’t exist.

On top of the cliff rested various military encampments, some obviously permantantly, and others temporary additions, such as a large tarp that fluttered gently in the cold wind, covering the entirety of the encampments, suspended by wooden poles and sheltering the people below from the sun. Jack didn’t even bother using his breath, instead he created a small drop of slime in his hand, and simply flicked it, he sighed as it splattered against the barrier, barely even making it light up. As the drop of slime quickly slid off the round barrier, Jack stretched and pounded his fists together “Well, time to get creative.”
