“O’ Hero from another realm! Please save us”

Before I could even process the words being said, I was grabbed and held tight, almost suffocating in something huge, soft and warm.

After making some noises I was finally freed and I could get a good look at what the hell was going on.

Not that anything made any sense.

I was in a place that should’ve been a glorious throne room.

There was gold on everything. Detailed statues and flowers everywhere. The thrones were ridiculously large and seemed to be made out of pure gold, each one had shining gems embedded into it. There were even these impossibly white pillars that rose up into the clouds…

It would have been glorious if it didn’t seem like ruins that had been abandoned for hundreds of years.

The statues were crumbling and the garden was overgrown. All the thrones had thorns and vines wrapping around them. Except for one throne with pink gems and even though it was in the best condition out of all of them, the throne itself was still covered in debris and the gems on that one were cracking.

The one who had called me ‘Hero’ was still pressing her body close to mine.

After releasing me from the hug she switched to clinging onto my left arm and repeatedly apologizing.

“My sincerest apologies! I was merely too excited to see you Hero! To cause you distress is the worst offense! Please forgive me!”

She looked as if she was about to cry.

Her watery pink eyes stared at me as she looked for some sign of forgiveness and I couldn’t help but think of the cracked pink jewels set into the only decent throne.

Her soft hands gripped my arm tighter and tighter and her chest pressed into me as she squeezed as close to me as possible. It was as if she was dying and I was the only thing that could save her.

“… Can you tell me what’s going on right now?”

She seemed startled by my voice but quickly responded,

“I have brought you here from your realm in order to save us. We are dying… Both the people of this realm and me, their only remaining goddess. Only you can save us, Hero!”

….

“…Alright. This is definitely a dream.”

I almost believed it for a second but I’ll just blame that on the fact that I had been asleep and confused-

“It’s not a dream! Please hear me out!”

I tried to take my arm away from her but she held on to me with what was definitely an inhuman amount of strength.

I would’ve kept going with the flow of things but the idea that I’m the hero in this type of ‘being summoned to another world’ story is ridiculous.

Everything about me is absolutely ordinary. Just a normal 17 year old. I go to school, work a part-time job, and I come back home. I have a few friends and most of my free time is spent watching videos, playing games or reading because I only have a few hobbies. What am I supposed to do as the hero of this world?

I wandered around the dilapidated throne room looking for a way out while the ‘goddess’ kept her hold on me. She kept rambling while stumbling along behind me and I kept ignoring her in an attempt to escape.

The place we were in was a little floating island above the cloud line. It would’ve been beautiful if the place wasn’t in ruins.

After walking around in circles for who knows how long, I turned to face the goddess properly.

Soft pink curls covered her body, strands of hair covered her shoulders and draped over her chest. She wore some sort of loose white fabric that folded around her curves and magically clung to her body no matter how much she moved. Decorated in all kinds of gold ornaments, she was beautiful in an other-worldly way but I couldn’t help but think she looked weak. Though, that was probably because of the way she pursed her thin pale lips, looking up at me with the tears still in her eyes.

“…Why do you think I can save the world? What could I possibly do?”

“You don’t have to do a single thing! I’ve spent so long looking for a being with your aura, just your presence alone can eliminate those terrible things threatening our existence!”

She looked so excited and hopeful as she pulled me back over to the thrones and urged me to sit on the one with the pink jewels I saw before. As soon as I sat down she kneeled before me and bowed her head with the utmost respect.

“Hero,

I will grant you anything within my power, anything you could desire.

Once this world returns to its natural state I will also gain the true strength of a god once again and the heavens will regain their former glory.

You will be our saviour and will be praised and honored for eternity.

Whatever you wish for, I will reward you with.

Even if you wish to become a God!

Hear the cries of me and my people and give us the chance for salvation!

Please! Please! Save us!”

The begging goddess finally looked up at me and asked for salvation as if I was the god and she was a pitiful mortal.

She spoke with a solemn and serious tone, as if this was a prayer she had practiced saying many times before.

She kneeled before me with her hands clenched into tight fists, twisting the fabric of her clothing and pressing into her thighs.

The tears in her eyes finally fell and left tear tracks down her flushed face.

After sitting in shock for a while I got up and went over to her, offering my hand to help her up. As she got up she would no longer look me in the eyes but she kept holding my hand and waiting for a response.

Tears dripped down to the marble ground and made a noticeable sound in the silence.

I took a deep breath and looked away from her for a second before turning back and saying something crazy.

“…Tell me more and I’ll try my best.”

Her eyelashes fanned out as her round eyes widened in her surprise.

She brought my hand up to her face, cupping her cheek with it.

I could feel the tears running down her face and the new ones going across the back of my hand as she slowly smiled at me.

“Thank you, Hero.”
