Chapter 2: Vision of the past.

_ Stella

Stella's exhausted body gave in to the overwhelming fatigue, and as her eyelids closed, she drifted into a deep slumber. In that state of unconsciousness, her mind entered a realm of vivid dreams, where the boundaries between reality and imagination blurred.

She found herself standing in a vast, ethereal realm, surrounded by a breathtaking landscape of mystical beauty. The air hummed with ancient power, and a sense of awe filled her being. As she ventured deeper into this realm, she sensed a presence, an immense and primordial force stirring beneath the surface.

As Stella's dream continued, the scene shifted, transporting her to a distant past, a time of great upheaval and chaos. She found herself amidst a fierce battle, where valiant heroes clashed with an abyssal beast of unimaginable power. The clash between light and darkness raged on for what felt like an eternity, each side unleashing devastating attacks upon the other.

The heroes fought with unwavering resolve, their skills and bravery tested to the limits. The ground shook beneath their feet, and the air crackled with the release of powerful magic. The clash of weapons and the roars of the beast echoed through the battlefield, painting a scene of desperation and determination.

After a long and grueling struggle, the valiant heroes managed to weaken the abyssal beast, leaving its colossal form battered and tattered. With a final surge of energy, they rallied together, channeling their collective might to perform a ritual of sealing. Using ancient knowledge and artifacts, they channeled their combined power into a focal point, sealing the beast's life force within its own decaying body.

Stella's ethereal avatar witnessed the aftermath of the battle, standing amidst the remnants of the once epic confrontation. The battlefield was now a sea of dark mist, swirling ominously. The passage of time had taken its toll on the area, as nature struggled to reclaim the scarred landscape.

In the midst of the desolation, a mysterious figure emerged, their form concealed by a dark robe. Shadows seemed to cling to their very being, amplifying the air of intrigue that surrounded them. With deliberate steps, the figure approached the ancient battleground, their presence shrouded in a foreboding aura.

The figure began to chant in whispers, an eerie incantation that reverberated through the air. As the words left their lips, the ground split open, revealing a hidden passage leading deep into the heart of Arvandor. Stella's ethereal avatar, driven by curiosity, followed the figure as they ventured forth.

Arriving at a towering metal door, sealed by enchanted chains, the figure performed a secret combination, using words unfamiliar to Stella. The chains relinquished their hold, allowing the door to swing open. Beyond the door lay a pitch-black room, permeated by tendrils of malignant energy that writhed and twisted in the darkness.

As the figure stepped forward, the tendrils surged toward them, poised to strike. Yet, as if recognizing the presence of the figure, they halted in their tracks, their movement frozen. The figure's whispers seemed to hold sway over the malevolent energy, commanding it to yield.

Advancing toward an altar at the center of the room, the figure's gaze fell upon a shattered crystal sword. The room's atmosphere grew tense as the figure extended a hand, reaching out to touch the fragmented weapon. At that moment, the vision abruptly ended, leaving Stella with a sense of foreboding.

Before the vision dissolved entirely, Stella heard the figure's voice, deep and inhuman, resonating with an unsettling power. "Found you," it uttered, its words laced with a mixture of anticipation and malevolence.

Stella awakened from her dream, her heart pounding with a mix of curiosity, apprehension, and determination. The vision had unveiled a hidden threat, an ominous presence seeking to unlock the seal placed upon the ancient abyssal beast. Understanding the urgency of the situation, Stella knew that she had to delve deeper into the mystery, uncovering the dark figure's intentions and preventing the resurrection of the primordial menace that had long slumbered within Arvandor's depths.

Slowly Stella regained her bearing, breathing heavily, her vision blurry―her body sweating and aching. As finally her surroundings came into focus, she was in a tent sleeping on an impromptu bed made from an unknown animal haid that is laid on a leaf bedding. Standing up slowly she reached for the tent exit to the star-filled night as she saw the Guardian of Lanthorn sitting around a campfire immersed in talking with one another.

Noticing her presence, Xavier approached the still query Stella. "Thank goodness you're awake," he said with a smile, voice filled with genuine concern. "You gave us all quite a scare back there."

Stella managed a weak smile and nodded, grateful for her friends' support. She could still feel the remnants of her newfound power coursing through her, although it had faded considerably. The experience had left her both exhilarated and drained, but she knew she couldn't dwell on it now.

"What happened?" Stella asked, her voice raspy from exhaustion. Xavier was just about to retail her everything after she lost consciousness only to stop himself at a moment's notice to quizzically stare at Stella for a solid second.

"What? Is there something on my face?" Stella questioned, genuinely confused if not censored as to why Xavier stopped speaking.

"You can talk. I mean fluently speaking Caljidor" Cain who was as shocked as the other Guardian provided her with the answer.

Stella's eyes widened in surprise as she now noticed that her voice came out effortlessly in Caljidor, a language readily spoken by Veridora inhabitants, Arvandor's second largest continent. Her speaking this language was a gift, a gift that was bestowed upon her by the burst of power she had unleashed during the battle with the colossal Colubrinae.

"I... I can speak Caljidor?" Stella stammered, her voice filled with a mixture of awe and disbelief. The realization dawned on her that her connection to the latent power within her had awakened not only her abilities but also unlocked ancient knowledge.

From the side Elira who had a look of wonder on her face, spoke. "Hmm… It seems your encounter with the Colubrinae has triggered something within you. It's as if you have tapped into a wellspring of ancient magic, granting you newfound abilities and understanding."

Stella pondered this revelation, feeling a surge of excitement and trepidation. She knew that her journey had taken an unexpected turn, and she was now being propelled into a world of ancient secrets and hidden dangers.

Tacking a quick glance at the Guardian, Stella took a deep breath and stated. "I know you have a lot of questions in your mind, and as much as you deserve to know I need you all to listen closely….. I am not from this realm"

The Guardian all shared glances of both confusion and curiosity, Stella however elaborated by saying "I am from a place called Earth"

The Guardians' expressions shifted from surprise to deep intrigue. Earth was a realm completely unknown to them, a place that had never been mentioned in any of their ancient texts or tales. The mere mention of Stella's origins from Earth ignited a curiosity within the Guardians, eager to learn more about this mysterious realm.

Xavier, always the voice of reason, spoke up first. "Stella, your revelation raises many questions. Earth... I have never heard of such a place. How did you find yourself in Arvandor? And why did you come here?"

Stella took a moment to gather her thoughts before responding. "I... I don't have all the answers myself. It's a long and complicated story. But what I do know is that I was somehow transported from Earth to Arvandor. I woke up here without any memory of how or why it happened."

Cain leaned forward, his eyes filled with curiosity. "Earth... It sounds like a realm filled with its own wonders and mysteries. What can you tell us about this place? How does it differ from Arvandor?"

Stella hesitated for a moment, trying to find the right words to describe her home realm, knowing that the Guardians had no frame of reference for it. "Earth is a vast world with diverse landscapes, cultures, and civilizations. It is different from Arvandor in many ways. Technology has advanced to incredible heights, and humans have built sprawling cities, harnessed the power of electricity, and reached the moon. But Earth is also facing its own challenges and struggles."

Elira's voice held a note of sympathy as she spoke. "It must have been a confusing and overwhelming experience for you. To be transported from a realm completely foreign to us... It's difficult to even fathom. But now that you have discovered your connection to the ancient powers of Arvandor and your ability to speak Caljidor. Yet, I sense that there is more to your tales."

Stella nodded, her determination resolute. "Indeed it's" taking a trippeded pause, Stella recounted what she saw the moment she lost her consciousness "I…I dreamed of a vision, a vision about a dark figure seeking to awaken an ancient abyssal beast, a threat that could bring chaos and destruction to this world"

The Guardians exchanged glances, their expressions filled with a mix of fascination and concern. Magnus, the ever stoic one, surprised his fellow team members when he spoke. "Can you speak more about this so-called dream?" His voice firm with comprehensive intrigue as he beckoned Stella to say more.

Stella began, recounting the details of her dream and the dark figure she had witnessed. She described the shattered crystal sword and the ominous words spoken by the figure. The Guardians of Lanthorn listened intently, their expressions shifting from curiosity to concern.

"This vision points to a grave danger," Lily said, her voice filled with worry. "If someone is attempting to awaken the primordial beast, it could unleash chaos and destruction upon Arvandor."

"We must find out more about this dark figure and their intentions," Cain chimed in, his eyes burning with determination. "If they seek power to rule the world, they must be stopped."

The Guardians of Lanthorn formed a circle around Stella, their camaraderie and shared purpose evident. They vowed to protect Arvandor from the impending calamity and to uncover the truth behind the ancient seal and the dark figure's machinations.

As they continued their discussion, Stella couldn't shake off the lingering sense of the ethereal realm she had visited in her dream. It felt as though the boundaries between the dream world and reality were blurring, and she sensed that her journey would take her deeper into the mysteries of Arvandor than she had ever imagined.

….

Under the dappled sunlight filtering through the forest canopy, Stella focused on her task, skillfully chopping vegetables and marinating the wild boar meat that was generously caught by Cain hunting contraption. Her hands moved with a grace that hinted at familiarity in the kitchen, even though it was a realm she had only recently entered. The aroma of the forest herbs and spices filled the air, creating an enticing atmosphere.

Cain, unable to resist the tempting scent wafting from the cooking area, watched Stella's every move with a mix of curiosity and guarded suspicion. As Stella glanced over at him, she could sense his apprehension. She decided to break the silence and address the elephant in the room.

"So, Cain," she began, her voice gentle yet laced with a playful undertone, "are you still suspicious of me? You know, you can just ask if you're curious about something."

Cain feigned indifference, his gaze fixed on a distant tree. "I'm merely exercising caution, Stella. As a member of the Guardian of Lanthorn, it's my duty to protect my fellow companions. I can't afford to overlook any potential threats."

Stella's eyes twinkled with amusement as she continued her culinary preparations. "Of course, I understand your concern. But let's be honest, that trace of saliva at the corner of your mouth tells me a different story."

Caught off guard, Cain's composed facade cracked, and he quickly wiped his mouth, a hint of embarrassment coloring his cheeks. "I... uh, it's just that the aroma of the food is quite enticing. It's hard to resist."

Stella laughed, the melodious sound echoing through the forest. "No need to be ashamed, Cain. We're all allowed to indulge in our cravings. I promise you, the food will be ready soon, and you won't be disappointed."

Cain's expression softened a little, before a facade frown was shone. "Hmph! I suppose a taste wouldn't hurt."

Shaking her head Stella continued to work on the meal, her infectious enthusiasm and warm presence began to melt away Cain's initial reservations. He approached the cooking area cautiously, stealing a glance at the ingredients she had gathered.

"What are you making, Stella?" Cain asked, genuine curiosity replacing his earlier skepticism.

Stella grinned, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "It's a dish I learned from my homeland. A medley of flavors and spices that will transport you to a world of taste and delight. I call it 'Forest Harvest Stew'."

Cain's interest was piqued, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. "Forest Harvest Stew? It sounds intriguing. Can you tell me more about the ingredients you've chosen?"

Stella enthusiastically explained the significance of each ingredient, describing their flavors, textures, and how they harmoniously combined to create a delectable symphony of tastes. Cain listened intently, his initial reservations fading away as he became genuinely intrigued by Stella's culinary expertise.

As they conversed and Stella continued to work her magic on the campfire, the bond between them deepened. What started as suspicion had transformed into a shared camaraderie, founded on trust and a mutual appreciation for each other's skills and talents.

Finally, as the fragrant Forest Harvest Stew simmered and the flavors melded together, Stella and Cain, alongside their fellow companions, gathered around the makeshift dining area. Laughter, conversation, and the clinking of utensils filled the air as they savored the delicious meal, their shared experience forging stronger connections within the group.

In that moment, Stella's contribution to the Guardians of Lanthorn extended beyond her primordial power. She had become a valued member, weaving her own unique abilities and talents into the tapestry of their journey, and bringing them closer together as a formidable team.

….

Stella and The Guardians of Lanthorn embarked on a journey from the outskirts of the majestic Minron Forest, their path leading them towards the vibrant city of Remensal. As they made their way through the winding forest trails, Stella's eyes shimmered with excitement and wonder, eagerly taking in the sights and sounds of the world outside the protective embrace of nature.

The dense canopy above filtered sunlight, casting enchanting patterns on the forest floor as the group walked. The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming flowers and the gentle rustling of leaves, creating a serene atmosphere that enveloped them in tranquility. Stella felt a sense of belonging and camaraderie among her companions, grateful to be a part of The Guardians of Lanthorn.

As they emerged from the dense forest, the sprawling city of Remensal came into view, standing tall in the distance. Its towering spires reached towards the heavens, shimmering under the warm sunlight. Stella's gaze was drawn to the vibrant streets teeming with life, filled with merchants, artisans, and people from all walks of life. The city beckoned to her, promising adventure, intrigue, and the possibility of uncovering her own purpose in this realm.

The group continued their journey, their footsteps echoing on the cobbled road that led them closer to their destination—the guild Lanthorn Hall. Along the way, Stella's eyes darted from one site to another, captivated by the architectural marvels that adorned the city. Magnificent buildings with intricately carved facades, bustling marketplaces brimming with colorful wares, and the melodies of street musicians filled the air, creating an atmosphere of bustling energy.

With each step, Stella's anticipation grew, a mixture of excitement and nervousness coursing through her veins. She couldn't help but imagine the possibilities that awaited her within the guild hall, surrounded by fellow guardians who shared a common purpose. They would be her companions, mentors, and friends—a family she had longed for.

As they neared their destination, the guild hall came into view. It stood as a symbol of strength and unity, its unassuming exterior belying the courage and determination that resided within its walls. Stella felt a surge of gratitude for the opportunity to join such a noble group, to contribute her own unique abilities to their cause.

With each passing moment, Stella's excitement grew, her heart pounding with a mixture of anticipation and uncertainty. She knew that her journey had only just begun and that the city of Remensal held both challenges and rewards in equal measure. But she was ready, ready to embrace the unknown, ready to discover her purpose, and ready to stand alongside The Guardians of Lanthorn as they safeguarded the realm from the encroaching shadows.

As they finally reached the guild hall's entrance, Stella took a deep breath, her eyes gleaming with determination. With her newfound companions by her side, she stepped forward, ready to embark on her next chapter as a member of The Guardians of Lanthorn.

The Lanthorn Hall exuded a humble charm, its modest size and facilities reflecting the guild's focus on quality over quantity. While it may not have been as grand as some of the larger guilds in the realm, it possessed a unique warmth and intimacy that endeared it to its members.

Nestled within a quaint corner of the city, the guild hall stood as a two-story building of simple yet sturdy construction. Its exterior was made of rough-hewn stone, weathered by time and adorned with minimalistic carvings representing the guild's emblem—a radiant lantern illuminating a darkened world. The entrance, though unassuming, exuded an inviting aura, welcoming both members and visitors alike.

Upon stepping inside, one would find a cozy reception area with a worn wooden counter, behind which a friendly guild receptionist greeted newcomers with a warm smile. The walls of the reception area were adorned with a few modestly sized paintings depicting heroic scenes and guild accomplishments. The atmosphere was one of camaraderie, with members often engaging in light-hearted banter or sharing tales of their recent exploits.

The main gathering hall served as the heart of the guild, a multipurpose space that accommodated meetings, training sessions, and social gatherings. Its walls, painted in earthy tones, were adorned with simple tapestries depicting scenes of unity and determination. The hall was furnished with sturdy wooden benches and tables, arranged to foster open communication and collaboration among members.

Adjacent to the main hall, a small training area offered the necessary facilities for members to hone their skills. Equipped with a handful of practice dummies, sparing mats, and basic training equipment, it provided a functional space for members to engage in combat drills and magical exercises.

The guild library, though compact, held a modest collection of books and scrolls carefully curated over the years. It housed a range of subjects, from historical records and legends of the realm to practical guides on combat techniques and magical theory. Members could often be seen engrossed in their studies, seated at worn wooden desks, immersed in the wealth of knowledge available to them.

Private quarters for guild members were simple yet comfortable, with each individual assigned a modest room furnished with a bed, a small desk, and a storage chest for personal belongings. The emphasis was placed on creating a sense of community, as members often shared stories and forged deep friendships during their downtime within the guild hall.

While The Lanthorn hall may have lacked the opulence of larger guilds, its charm lay in its intimate atmosphere and close-knit community. The smaller size fostered stronger bonds among members, allowing for a more personal and supportive environment. It was a place where individuals felt valued, their contributions recognized, and their dreams of protecting the realm cherished.

In the end, it was not the grandeur of the guild hall that defined The Guardians of Lanthorn, but the unwavering spirit of its members, their shared purpose, and their unyielding dedication to the cause they held dear. The guild hall served as a humble sanctuary, a gathering place for heroes who sought to make a difference in a world threatened by darkness and adversary.

Talking with the guild receptionist, a young man named Albert, they discovered that the guild leader was currently absent, undertaking a mission sponsored by the emperor himself. Instead, they were directed to the guild vice leader, a knowledgeable and experienced adventurer who could provide assistance in the guild leader's absence.

Aria Maximum sat at the head of a long, polished table in the guild hall, her gaze shifting between Xavier and Cain as they recounted their recent adventures. Her piercing eyes seemed to dissect their every word, searching for inconsistencies or hidden truths.

"Tell me, Xavier," Aria began, her voice commanding yet tinged with curiosity, "describe in detail the events leading up to your encounter with Stella and the colossal Colubrinae."

Xavier cleared his throat and adjusted his stance, feeling the weight of Aria's scrutiny. "Well, it all began when we received reports of unusual seismic activity near the outskirts of Minron forest. As members of The Guardian, our duty is to investigate and ensure the safety of our realm. Cain and I, along with Elira and Magnus, ventured into the forest to ascertain the source of the disturbances. Scouting further within the forest compound for more information, is where we meet Stella……"

As Stella and The Guardian shared their experiences, Aria's interest grew, her eyes lighting up with curiosity. She recognized the significance of Stella's primordial power, understanding that it held immense potential and could be a force of great change in the world. She asked probing questions, seeking to unravel the mysteries surrounding Stella's origins and the purpose of her existence.

"With that settled, you may make your way out. Except for you Xavier!" Hearing his name being mentioned, the man stood to attention wondering why, or what Aria wanted from him.

"Be at ease adventurer, I want to brief you for a new commission." At that, the tense Xavier visibly relaxed as he paid farewell to his fellow party members.

Turning his attention back to Aria, Xavier questioned. "What kind of commission"

Smiling, Aria responded "It's about the abandoned silver mine in Sarasota"

"The one that's rumored to be sealed by the late count, Sir. Rodan Ivanfor" Stated Xaiver.

"The very same mine" Aria confirmed Xavier's statement.

"So what's the commission details"

…..

While Xavier was occupied with the matter regarding the possibly new commission that they were tasked to handle, the other members of The Guardian of Lanthorn went their separate ways to attend to their individual tasks and responsibilities.

…..

_ Magnus

Magnus, ever the stoic and silent person of the bunch, decided to go to his regular outing, that's lending a helping hand at the orphanage, helping the people managing the place with the physical chores, but also offering guidance and entertainment to the children residing there. His presence brought warmth and joy to the young ones, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.

Magnus, despite his quiet demeanor, had a heart full of compassion and a deep sense of responsibility towards those in need. Every week without fail, he dedicated his time to the local orphanage, where children who had lost their families found solace and support. The orphanage was nestled on the outskirts of Remensal, surrounded by serene meadows and gently flowing streams.

Upon arriving at the orphanage, Magnus was greeted with bright smiles and excited chatter from the children. They admired his strength and admired the stories that circulated about his courageous exploits as a member of The Guardian of Lanthorn. To them, he was a living legend, a symbol of hope and protection.

Magnus enthusiastically joined the staff in their daily tasks, assisting in the maintenance of the orphanage grounds, repairing broken furniture, and ensuring that everything was in order. His muscular physique and dexterous hands made even the most challenging tasks seem effortless. But it was his kind and patient nature that made him truly special to the children.

During his time at the orphanage, Magnus not only performed physical chores but also took the opportunity to bond with the children on a deeper level. He would engage them in lively conversations, sharing tales of his adventures and teaching them important life lessons about bravery, resilience, and the value of friendship. His storytelling skills were unparalleled, and the children were captivated by his vivid descriptions of mythical creatures, epic battles, and the wonders of the realm.

Magnus would often organize outdoor activities, such as friendly competitions, sports events, and scavenger hunts, bringing joy and laughter to the children's lives. His booming laughter resonated throughout the orphanage, creating an atmosphere of warmth and happiness. He encouraged the children to dream big, to believe in themselves, and to never lose hope, no matter the challenges they faced.

The impact of Magnus' presence extended far beyond his time at the orphanage. The children looked up to him as a role model, aspiring to be strong and kind-hearted individuals like him. Many of them found solace and inspiration in his words, finding the strength to face their own adversities with newfound courage.

Magnus' devotion to the orphanage and his unwavering support for the children left an indelible mark on their lives. They would fondly remember him as the hero who not only fought battles against mythical forces but also fought to bring happiness and stability to their lives. His visits became a beacon of hope, a reminder that they were not alone and that someone cared deeply for their well-being.

As Magnus bid farewell to the children at the end of each visit, they would gather around him, their tiny hands reaching out for one last hug, their eyes gleaming with gratitude and affection. It was in these heartfelt moments that Magnus found a profound sense of fulfillment, knowing that he had made a positive difference in the lives of these young souls.

Leaving the orphanage, Magnus carried the memories of their laughter, their resilience, and their unwavering spirit within his heart. It fueled his determination to protect and fight for a better world, not only for the children at the orphanage but for all those who depended on The Guardian of Lanthorn. With renewed purpose, he rejoined his companions, ready to face the challenges that awaited them in their quest to unravel the mysteries surrounding Stella's power and destiny.

….

_ Elira

Elira, driven by her thirst for knowledge and understanding, embarked on a journey to contact the high priest. She sought ancient texts and manuscripts, hoping to unveil secrets that might shed light on the enigmatic circumstances surrounding Stella's existence and the immense power she possessed. Her determination led her to the sacred halls of the high priest, where she hoped to find answers that would guide their path.

Elira, with her insatiable curiosity and deep reverence for the mystical arts, had always been drawn to the sacred knowledge preserved within the walls of the high priest's sanctuary. The high priestess, known as Seraphina, was revered as the wisest and most knowledgeable scholar in the realm. Her vast understanding of ancient texts and prophetic visions made her a trusted advisor to the emperor himself.

As Elira stepped into the hallowed halls of the sanctuary, a sense of awe washed over her. The chamber was adorned with ornate tapestries depicting scenes from the realm's history, and shelves upon shelves of ancient tomes and manuscripts lined the walls. The air was filled with the scent of aged parchment and incense, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and reverence.

Seraphina, a regal figure with flowing robes and a crown of wisdom adorning her silver hair, her elongated ears and tall stature proved that she wasn't an Aredain like Elira, and her fellow guardians. Seraphina was an Asyraie, hailed from the contenent of Edusal, the Asyrai is a race that's often referred to as the aurora-dancers of Arvandor. Blessed with long life-span and high sensitivity towards Ether, the metaphysical force that permeates all of creation, and the source of magic

Seraphina welcomed Elira with a gentle smile. She recognized the burning determination in Elira's eyes and understood the weight of the questions that burdened her soul. Bowing down, Elira greeted the high priestess. "I greet thee holiness, the avatar of light and the source of creation"

"Welcome, Elira." Seraphina greeted her, her voice resonating with a soothing warmth. "I have been expecting you to come. I sense that your mind is plagued with questions, questions that will be answered in do time my child"

Elira's eyes widened for the fact that her suspicions were true, not to mention that the priestess herself has received knowledge from the divine. "I seek answers regarding Stella's existence and the immense power she possesses. I believe that within the forbidden section of the library that houses sacred texts, we may find clues that will guide us on our path." Nodding her head in understanding, Seraphina gestured for Elira to follow her as she started. "Come, let us delve into the depths of ancient wisdom and seek the truths that lie within."

Elira followed Seraphina through the sacred halls of the temple, their steps echoing softly against the stone floor. They passed rows upon rows of ancient tomes, their spines adorned with intricate symbols and glyphs. The air grew heavy with the weight of knowledge as they approached the forbidden section of the library, a place rumored to hold the most profound secrets of the realm.

As they entered the forbidden section, Elira's senses heightened, as if attuned to the ancient wisdom that surrounded her. The shelves here were filled with weathered manuscripts, their pages yellowed with age and marked with the passage of time. The silence was profound, broken only by the faint crackling of the torches that illuminated the room.

Elira's divine senses tingled, and her gaze was drawn to a particular tome resting on a pedestal, bathed in a soft, ethereal glow. The book seemed to call out to her, its presence pulsating with an otherworldly energy. Curiosity burned within her, and she reached out to touch the Astral Codex.

As her fingertips made contact with the book, a surge of knowledge flowed through Elira. Visions and fragments of ancient prophecies flashed before her eyes, weaving together a tapestry of understanding. She gasped, feeling a profound connection to the Astral Codex and the truths it held.

Just as Elira was absorbed in her revelations, Seraphina's voice broke the stillness of the chamber. "It seems the divine has guided you to this part of the library for a reason, my child."

Elira turned to face Seraphina, her eyes wide with wonder. "What do you mean, High Priestess? What truths does this codex hold?"

Seraphina's voice was filled with a mixture of solemnity and awe. "The Astral Codex is said to contain the knowledge of the stars themselves, a compendium of ancient wisdom passed down from the divine. Its pages hold secrets and prophecies that illuminate the paths of those chosen by the cosmos."

Elira's heart raced with anticipation. "Chosen? Do you mean to say that my being here, my connection to Stella, is not merely coincidental?"

Seraphina nodded, her gaze filled with unwavering certainty. "Indeed, my child. The divine has intertwined your fate with that of Stella's for a purpose known only to the higher realms. You have been chosen to guide her, to unravel the mysteries that shroud her existence, and to protect the realm from the forces that seek to exploit her power."

Elira's mind whirled with a mix of emotions. She felt both humbled and burdened by the weight of her newfound purpose. As she contemplated the task ahead, Seraphina placed a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"Fear not, Elira. The divine has chosen you for a reason. Trust in your abilities, your connection to the cosmic forces that govern our realm. The path ahead may be treacherous, but with knowledge, faith, and the strength that lies within you, you will prevail."

With those words of reassurance, Seraphina left Elira to her thoughts, returning to her duties as the high priestess. Elira stood in the presence of the Astral Codex, feeling the weight of responsibility settle upon her shoulders. She knew that her journey had only just begun and that the truths contained within the sacred tome would guide her towards the destiny that awaited her and Stella.

Deep in contemplation, Elira immersed herself in the pages of the Astral Codex, absorbing its wisdom and forging a connection with the cosmic forces that shaped their world. She knew that the path ahead would be filled with challenges, but armed with newfound knowledge and guided by the divine, she was determined to fulfill her role as a guardian and protector.

And so, in the quiet solitude of the forbidden section of the temple library, Elira embarked on a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment, unraveling the truths that would shape her destiny and the destiny of those she held dear.

….

Meanwhile, Lily accompanied Stella as they navigated the bustling market streets of Remensal. Their goal was to procure essential supplies, particularly for Stella, who had arrived in this realm without any belongings of her own. Lily assisted her in selecting appropriate attire, basic provisions, and any other items that would aid Stella in adapting to her new surroundings.

As Stella and Lily made their way through the market streets of Remensal, their senses were overwhelmed by a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors, tantalizing aromas, and the melodic symphony of voices haggling and bartering. Stall after stall lined the narrow streets, each one offering a unique assortment of goods, ranging from exotic spices and fragrant herbs to finely crafted weapons and enchanted trinkets.

Lily, with her keen eye for fashion and practicality, guided Stella through the maze of vendors, ensuring that she found garments suited to her taste and the demands of their journey. They browsed through racks of finely woven fabrics, rich in texture and intricate designs, eventually settling on a set of sturdy yet comfortable travel attire. Lily also helped Stella select a cloak to shield her from the elements, a sturdy pair of boots for long treks, and a satchel to carry her newfound belongings.

As Stella and Lily approached the fabric stall, the vendor greeted them warmly, a sly smile playing on his lips. "Welcome, travelers! How may I assist you today?"

Lily, ever perceptive, sensed an underlying motive in the vendor's demeanor. She exchanged a knowing glance with Stella and decided to stay vigilant. "We're in search of sturdy travel attire for our companion here. Something that combines durability and style. Do you have any recommendations?"

The vendor's smile widened, his eyes glimmering with a hint of mischief. "Ah, I have just the selection for you, my friends. These fabrics are truly exceptional, woven by the finest artisans in the realm. They're worth every silver Rupee."

Stella, enchanted by the colorful fabrics, inquired innocently, "How much for this one with the beautiful embroidery?"

The vendor's voice took on a persuasive tone. "For you, my dear, such craftsmanship doesn't come cheap. It is a masterpiece worthy of five silver Rupees."

Lily's suspicions were confirmed, and she decided to intervene before Stella unknowingly paid more than necessary. She stepped forward with a determined expression. "Five silver Rupees? That seems a bit steep for a traveler's attire, don't you think?"

The vendor's smile faltered, his eyes flickering with surprise at Lily's astuteness. "Well, you see, this is a special fabric, and its quality demands a higher price. But for you, I can make a small concession. How about four and a half silver Rupees?"

Lily raised an eyebrow, her negotiating skills honed. "I appreciate the offer, but I think we can find a more reasonable price. How about four silver Rupees? That seems fair, given the current market rates."

The vendor's attempts to swindle Stella were unraveling before his eyes, and he hesitated for a moment. Realizing that Lily wasn't going to back down easily, he finally relented. "Very well, four silver Rupees it is. But I must insist that this is a bargain you won't find elsewhere!"

Lily nodded, satisfied with the outcome. "Agreed. We'll take it for four silver Rupees."

Stella observed the exchange with admiration for Lily's negotiation skills. She handed over the coins, feeling a sense of pride that they didn't fall victim to the vendor's initial ploy.

As they continued their shopping excursion, Stella turned to Lily, a grateful smile on her face. "Thank you, Lily. I'm glad you were there to protect me from getting overcharged. You're truly skilled at getting the best deals."

Lily grinned, a sense of satisfaction evident in her eyes. "It's all about knowing the market and being a savvy shopper, Stella. We need to ensure that we're equipped for our journey without breaking the bank."

Their bond strengthened through their shared victory, and as they rejoined their companions at the meeting spot, Stella proudly wore her newly acquired attire, knowing that Lily's keen instincts had saved them from unnecessary expenses. Together, they prepared for the adventures that awaited them, armed not only with the right supplies but also with the wisdom to navigate the realm's intricate web of commerce.

As Stella and Lily ventured through the market, they engaged in light-hearted conversations, sharing laughter and anecdotes along the way. Stella marveled at the sights and sounds, fascinated by the diversity of people and goods that surrounded her. With Lily's guidance, she quickly learned the customs and etiquette of the market, embracing her new role as an active participant in this bustling realm.

Together, Stella and Lily completed their shopping excursion, ensuring that Stella was equipped with the necessities for her journey alongside The Guardian of Lanthorn. Thus Stella and Lily made their way to the designated meeting spot at the Lucrath inn, eager to reunite with their companions and embark on the next chapter of their adventure. Only to find that one of their companions has been missing all day.
