Desmond was surrounded. He swung his battle axe, made of solid titanium and crackling with electricity, but the orc-vampire hybrids were more than his match and were much more faster than him. 

"Uugh!" he grunted as he blocked with his axe as a crude club was swung at him with incredible strength.

The orc suddenly collapsed, with a hole in its head!

"Thanks Elena" Desmond said through his headpiece

"Don't thank me! Concentrate! It's not over yet!" Elena's voice replied over the headpiece

He looked at the nearby battle as Captain Jura fought with two large katana's, both energized with electricity

Like his axe, Jura's weapons were designed by the military to enable them to at least fight the alien invaders and cause damage, unlike their normal guns and knives. 

Nearby, a bloody Wildman, Elena's hound, was tearing the orc vampire hybrids viciously

Desmond was shocked at how savage the Wildman was, ripping through the monsters with his claws and overpowering them with his strength. 

While with the superhuman force, Elena forbid Stephan to eat hearts of their enemies, and she restrained herself from asking for "milk" during the battle. 

As for Stephan, he was unable to act independently, and only followed her simple commands. So he was only limited to attacking, defending and protecting Elena. 

Suddenly, the Wildman turned around and started charging the other way. 

"What...!" Jura wondered as he needed the Wildman's fighting ability

It was then that they heard gunshots from behind them

"Elena!" Desmond said, as Wildman was already out of eyesight. 

"Stay where you are! Wildman is already coming over!" Elena's voice said, sounding breathless over the headpiece

Jura and Desmond eyed each other and nodded, continuing to push forwards as Marcelo the spear user overtook them. 

At the back, Elena had her back to the wall, firing her twin handguns. Besides her sniper rifle, she also used two handguns, each shooting incredible projectiles from an incredibly small gun. 

It was specially designed rail guns, shooting ball bearings where each each cannister holding hundreds of small metal balls.

And the attackers moved faster than the eye could see too, so she was struggling to keep up and now had her back to the wall as they closed in. 

Suddenly, with a roar that stunned even Elena, Stephan appeared and ripped their heads off

He was so much more powerful and vicious than the orc-vampires, that they were completely overwhelmed by his physical presence

They were given specially designed weapons by the surviving military, headed by the young genius Amy, who was a kooky scientist in the university who was rescued by Jura

So far, the creatures that they had encountered had not been technologically advanced at all. 

There were vampire hybrids, goblins, orcs.. mostly they were fantasy creatures with the level of technology of the middle ages

But the invaders could be very powerful, wielding magical weapons. Some were as powerful as the Valheru that seemed like godly beings!

Mankind's only advantage was their technology, and with modified weapons such as those of the team, they at least could fight back

Their team was small, originally consisting of only 20 people, but as they slowly gained ground, they also lost members of their elite team, leaving only 7 remaining including Stephan. Several were killed in battle, while some had to be put down because they were bitten by the orc-vampires

They were headed for the NRG Stadium, after reports that survivors were held there initially by the Valheru, where Stephan rescued Natalie and her Mandingos. If there was hope of finding survivors, they hoped that it would be there

Stephan didn't think so. When the Valheru ruled Houston, the air was clean and the whole city felt fresh and untouched by the chaos happening all over outside the city

But now, the whole place looked not different from the other cities like Denver, where he first got back to Earth. There were ruins everywhere as well as rotting bodies

They entered the NRG Stadium, but found that it was completely empty. There were no survivors and a few dead victims rotting in various places around the stadium

"This is bad! We are surrounded" Elena said, camping on the rooftop and looking through her sniper scope

She could see the armies of the orc-vampires coming from all directions. 

"Shit! Prepare to evacuate" Jura said as the remaining members scrambled

Elena was already on top of Stephan, who jumped right down to ground level from the roof

There were only 7 of them left, from the original 20 members, and none of them wanted to die here

They tried to head south, but their escape was blocked by a multitude of orc-vampires

The orc-vampires were many times stronger and faster than all of them with the exception of Stephan

With proper tactics and superior technology, they managed to win battle after battle

But now without the element of surprise, they were in a severely vulnerable position

Suddenly, a bright light came from behind them as a large spacecraft suddenly crashed from the north, smashing through the distant Holiday Inn, dragging through several carparks that were used for the NRG Stadium

The whole Resistance ducked for cover while the orc-vampires in the north were blown away, and the ones in the south facing them were stunned by the impact

As the dust cleared, there was a loud roar and a horde of white creatures rushed out of the damaged ship, slaughtering the orc-vampire warriors in the north

They were white in color, with 4 legs for running, two arms in front, and two tentacles out the back that seemed to be shooting spikes at the orc-vampires

They were 4 meters tall, like an orc, but they were 4 legged, which means they were more massive and had longer length, like comparing a human to a centaur. 

They poured out of the damaged spacecraft, attacking everything in sight

They bit the heads off the orc-vampires, or ripped them apart with their teeth

They shot spikes from their tentacles, impaling the orc-vampires, and even if the vampires had regenerative abilities, they were ripped apart and eaten by the crazed beasts!

"Fuck! Retreat! Run!" Jura yelled as he struggled to get up, injured from the debris

With a mental command, Stephan got up with Elena on his back and picked Jura up, running but slowed down as he could not run on all fours and had to carry Jura

From behind, Marcelo caught up, driving a damaged open back humvee. In it, Desmond was holding his injured arm and had abandoned his axe

While running, Stephan threw Jura into the back of the vehicle as Elena and Stephan hopped on as well. 

"Where are the rest?" Elena asked, referring to Danny and Remus

"Danny... he sacrificed himself to give us the opportunity to escape. He was badly wounded and wouldn't have survived the trip back. As for Remus... I never saw him" Marcelo said while driving

The white skinned monsters were gaining on them, and looked like a wave of white creatures, having already overrun the orc-vampires

Elena aimed her rifle at them, taking out one after the other

To her surprise, they were very difficult to kill, and all the center of body shots were ineffective, only slowing them down for a second before getting up and charging again

"Shit, you need to hit the middle of the chest, neck or face" Elena said after shooting several of them

Suddenly, several of them shot spikes at the humvee, hitting the vehicle all over, as Marcelo took a spike in his back!

"Take the wheel!" Jura yelled as Marcelo collapsed and Desmond managed to regain control of the speeding vehicle

"Wildman keep them back!" Elena ordered as Desmond pushed Marcelo to the back and took over

Stephan charged at the white monsters, and Elena noticed that he had taken several spikes on his back protecting her in the attack a few seconds ago

The car sped off as Elena mentally commanded him to hold them back and eventually catch up

But the last sight of him was being jumped on by several of the white monsters closest to them!

He clashed with one, surprisingly overpowering the monster which was 4 times larger than him, and his claws ripped open it's chest

Without any hinderances, he immediately ripped out it's heart and ate it as another four monsters piled on him

"Fuck!" Elena yelled, having lost her pet an lover and she pounded the side of the car with her fist

"Put him out of his misery" Jura said, fully expecting Stephan to be killed

Elena grimly took up her rifle and aimed at the middle of the pile

She saw Stephan fight desperately and savagely, his whole body covered in spikes and bleeding everywhere

"Goodbye, lover" she mouthed to herself as she shot her gauss rifle

Stephan fought desperately, his body covered with spikes and had gashes of serious wounds all over his body

Suddenly, a projectile entered his forehead and exited the back of his head, splattering his brains everywhere as more monsters descended on him...

Elena watched with steely and cold eyes, removing the headband she had been using to control him, breaking it in two and throwing it out of the car
