Azazel spent the next few hours waiting in the cave for more spiders to hatch. In that timespan, 6 different spiders hatched and he killed them. He didn't gain any new level but he did gain 6 more souls. All in all he now had 32 souls and he decided that he should get the skill now. He already healed from all earlier injuries and he can still gain new souls after, so he wanted to be safe by buying the skill now.

[Skill Create!]

[Skill: Fire Manipulation

Effect: Gives you the ability to conjure and manipulate fire.]

[Cost: 25 Souls]

[Fire Manipulation skill created!]

[Racial Skill Level Up!]

[Skill Create - 1 ==> Skill Create - 2]

Azazel created the skill and instantly wanted to test it out. He closed his eyes to concentrate and held out his hand, trying to conjure a flame. He felt a warm substance moving from his chest through his shoulder, then arm and finally to his hand. Slowly, like holding a burning piece of paper, Azazel felt his hand heat up. It became hotter and hotter, until Azazel finally opened his eyes.

He saw a tiny flame dancing on his palm. It was a mesmerizing experience for Azazel. He stared at the flame and tried to control it. He tried to make it bigger, move it or make it hotter but all tests were rather lackluster. As he was about to complain, he remembered that the skill was still level 1 and that he should level it up first. However, he slowly felt that warm substance in his hand dissapear. Bit by bit it became less and less, until it finally dissapeared.

The second that the warm substance dissapeared, the flame on Azazels hand extinguished and he felt himself become unable to conjure another. Azazel was confused as to what that substance was, why it dissapeared and why he now couldn't conjure another. He thought that maybe it had something to do with it's level, so he leveled it up a few times.

[Skill: Fire Manipulation - 1 ==> Fire Manipulation - 2]

[Skill: Fire Manipulation - 2 ==> Fire Manipulation - 3]

[Skill: Fire Manipulation - 3 ==> Fire Manipulation - 4]

He tried to conjure a flame again but was unfortunately dissapointed. He felt that he now had that substance again but it was much less then the first time. Azazel was very confused, so he checked his status.

[Name: Azazel Fenriz Damballa...Mania]

[Level: 4 ==> 6]

[Race: Devil]

[Evolution: Lesser Dokkaebi]

[Stats:

-Strenght: 8 ==> 10

-Agility: 15 ==> 20

-Vitality: 7 ==> 10

-Intelligence: 5

-Charisma: 5

-Luck: 5

Statpoints: 0]

[Racial Skills:

Observation - 4 ==> 6

Universal Language - 1

Skill Create - 1 ==> 2

Devil contract - 1]

[Skills:

Fire Manipulation - 4

Skillpoints: 3]

[Souls: 5 ==> 7]

After having read his status once again, Azazel felt very stupid. He totally forgot about that he needed intelligence, so that he would have mana to use skills. 'So warm tingle mana?' Azazel guessed. He now understood why he couldn't hold that flame for long and why it was way less then before. It tried to regenerate but because he didn't give it enough time, he just had a little bit of mana.

Having understood his problem, he just waited once again to kill the newborn spiders. This went on for a few days, in which he slept inside the cave and occasionally killed newborn spiders. He was a bit bored from the monotonous farming, however he understood that doing this will result in him being stronger and having a better chance at surviving the first floor.

~~~
*Crack* *Crack*
Azazel heard the final egg crack and was relieved at finally being done here. 'Only one egg more.' He happily thought. Being scooped up in a dark and humid cave bored him more then he thought it would, at the start. He walked over to the final spider that was crawling out of the egg and held out his hand.
The area around his hand slowly became more and more illuminated. Then, heat started to build up, until a flame, the size of an basketball appeared on his palm. He then shot out the flame to kill the spider and burned down the whole nest with it.
[Defeated Level 1 Lesser Demonspider!]
[You Leveled Up!]
[Level: 9 ==> Level: 10]
[Gained 5 Statpoints and 1 Skillpoint!]
[Gained 1 Souls!]
[Evolution Available!]
In the last few days a lot has changed for Azazel. Especially his levels and his status. He only used the statpoints from the first level up, to boost his intelligence stat and saved the last ones up for this moment, when he can see his evolutions and their bonuses. First of all, he looked at his current status.
[Name: Azazel Fenriz Damballa...Mania]
[Level: 6 ==> 10]
[Race: Devil]
[Evolution: Lesser Dokkaebi]
[Stats:
-Strenght: 10
-Agility:  20
-Vitality: 10
-Intelligence: 5 ==> 10
-Charisma: 5
-Luck: 5
Statpoints: 15]
[Racial Skills:
Observation -  6
Universal Language - 1
Skill Create -  2
Devil contract - 1]
[Skills:
Fire Manipulation - 4
Skillpoints: 3 ==> 7]
[Souls: 7 ==> 38]
His status definetly changed a lot in the last few days, in which he mostly just farmed spider eggs. He now looked at his available evolution choices. He really hoped, that his theory would come true and that he didn't waste 25 souls on a skill that he will get anyways.
[Evolution Available!]
[Evolution: Dokkaebi]
[Perks:
-Agility + 20
-Strenght + 10
-Intelligence + 5
-Luck + 5
-Nimble + 1
-Callsensor + 1]
[Skill: Nimble
Effect: Gives you the ability to temporarily become twice as fast as before.]
[Skill: Callsensor
Effect: Gives you the ability to sense out your area, by forcing other living beings near you, to give out a loud sound/call. The drawback of this ability is, that the effect also applies to you.]
[Description: Dokkaebies are one of the higher evolution of Lesser Dokkaebies. They can do everything their lesser evolution could do, just more and better. Dokkaebies are regarded as one of the fastest early evolutions available and they do this whilst not sacrificing too much of their strenght. They also have a slight affinity with magic, which can be a great trump card for them.]
[Evolution: Unwilling]
[Perks:
-Vitality + 25
-Strenght + 15
-Unfalling + 1
-Bone Armor + 1]
[Skill: Unfalling
Effect: Gives you the passive ability to stand your ground better. You become less likely to get knocked down and can stand up quicker.]
[Skill: Bone Armor
Effect: Gives you the passive ablity to have your bones cover your body, like an armor. Causes all external damage to you, to be less effective and makes attacking beings damage themselves, if they perform an attack with their own body.]
[Description: Unwillings are one of the higher evolutions of the lesser Bull Demon, which instead of specialising on head armor focuses on a weaker armor, which however protects it's whole body. This makes them weaker against focused piercing attacks but stronger against general crushing attacks, in comparison to its counter-part of the Bull Demon. They are generally seen as a stronger version of the bull demon, since they're not too specialised into just one attack. They have great vitality and strenght, caused through their bone armor.]
[Evolution: Blaster]
[Perks:
-Strenght + 25
-Vitality + 10
-Intelligence + 5
-Fire Blast + 2]
[Skill: Fire Blast
Effect: Gives you the ability to fire out a fire blast from your hands.] 1If anyone is wondering, if this is just a bad fire manipulation, yes it is. However the fire blast created from this skill is noticeably stronger then one you could create from fire manipulation.
[Description: Blasters are generally seen as a weak evolution, since they basically only have one attack, that isn't that versatile. Another reason why they're seen as weak is, that the fire manipulation skill can basically do the same thing as them and is more versatile. However, what many are ot considering, ist the strenght difference between a fire blast from fire manipulation and a fire blast from the actual skill fire blast. This makes them a strong foe, even without considering their very strong physical strenght and above average vitality.]
Azazel saw his choices and he was a bit dissapointed. Altough all of them would give him great perks, his theory didn't come true. Altough the first impression wasn't so good, Azazel still saw the great power up he would gain from evolving. The choice, which evolution he would choose wasn't a hard one for him.
He was already heavily leaning towards a mobility style, and the question is basically Agility vs Vitality vs Strenght. Of course Azazel already choose the Dokkaebie evolution. The nimble skill of the evolution was also a great bonus, since he would be even faster. He didn't know so much about the Callsensor skill, since he would be revealing his own location as well. However, he was sure that if he used it right, it could help him in some situations. In the end, Azazel simply chose the Dokkaebie evolution, since it's the best suitable in his fighting style.
[Evolution Chosen: Dokkaebie]
[Evolution will now commence.]
Azazel suddenly felt very sleepy and altough he tried to fight it, he quickly fell asleep.
*Thud*
Falling to the ground, his body caused a thud. Slowly, while Azazel was sleeping, a black cocoon started forming around him. It just appeared out of thin air and slowly built itself around him. It looked very slimy and fluid. Despite that, it built itself around him, as if it was solid and fluid at the same time. After a few minutes of the cocoon slowly building itself, it finally finished. The intant, that it was done, the slimy fluid instantly started to harden. Not even a few second later, it looked like a cocoon made of obsidian.
And so, Azazel underwent his first evolution.
A/N- Hey there! If you're reading this on scribblehub and saw the release dates, you're probably confused why this chapter is so far apart from the others. Well the easy answer is, I just didn't have time. After a few things happened, I decided that I will just upload randomly and will not have a set date on when the chapters will come out. There could be 7 chapters per week or even 1 per 2 weeks. I'll just see when I have time and motivation and depending on that I will write.
After I'm finished writing this story, I will probably start uploading this on webnovel.com and other sites, so if you don't want to read a story with such upload times, just wait until I release it on other sites. It should be completely finished by then but that can still take a while, since I plan to make this a longer story.
Anyway, enough about that, let me know how the chapter was? Was it boring? Anywhere, where I made a mistake? Which evolution would you have chosen?
I'll always be thankful for friendly criticism, so don't shy away from pointing out my mistakes! Thank you for your read and be sure to come back in a few days, when the next chapter releases!
