Interstellar age 307

 

A spaceship is about to land in the fort of the imperial planet carrying countless soldiers who just came back from the battlefield and was given a vacation to the imperial city. This Batch of soldiers was commanded to go back to the military camp station in planet C the moment their short one week vacation came to an end.

 

Among the excited soldiers waiting for take off, Ning Xingyun, code name NYX, who's still working to move the large materials from places to places seems to stand out from the rest.

 

"NYX!! Hurry up and put the mechas in the repair room immediately!!" A person wearing a mechanic's clothes shouted.

 

"You do know we have lifters for mechas right?!" Ning Xingyun said while following the young man to the mechas room.

 

"Yes but it would be faster to move it with your space. Can you hurry up? The ships about to take off!"

 

"I'm supposed to be resting after the battle and yet here I am, still working." Ning Xingyun said with a sigh.

 

Although complaining, he still put the mechas in the room to his space one by one to move it to the repair room.

 

"Can't you put all of the mechas in your space in one go? Moving them one by one takes to much time, y'know" the mechanics said crossing his arms while looking NYX.

 

"Putting a thousand or more wounded soldiers in my space in the recent battle greatly consumes my mana so I won't be able to recover immediately. Putting all the mechs in my space in one-go in my condition right now is the same as me asking for death."

The man sighed in recognition before making a movement

"I'll get the lifter ready, sorry for the trouble."

"No worries, I'm also free at the moment anyway." Ning Xingyun said with a smile and took out the mecha in his when they arrive at their destination.

After they finished moving the mechas to the repair room, Ning Xingyun clean the dirt left by the mechas in his hand when the door in the repair room was opened again.

 

"NYX!!! You're here!!! I was Looking everywhere for you, the boss was waiting for you in his office" his friend, Pheat, said after seeing him.

 

"Got it, thanks! I'll be going now Jillian." Ning Xingyun said to Pheat before saying goodbye to the mechanics who wave his hands.

After departing the spaceship, he immediately goes back to the old apartment he rented back when he was still in the military school. The moment he open the door of the apartment, Ning Xingyun was greeted by the sight of his roommate Moya clinging to his girlfriend who seems to be about to leave in the living room.

 

“Hey,you’re back!! We cleaned your room for you.” 

 

“Welcome back Mr.soldier,i’ll take my leave”

 

Moya and his girlfriend said almost simultaneously, they look at each other for a moment before Moya finally releases his girlfriend who leaves after getting her bag.

 

“Did you guys fight?” Ning Xingyun ask after Moya's girlfriend left and enter the living room.

 

“Its nothing, just a normal fight like any other couple does. Is that for me?” Moya said when he the thing NYX was holding.

 

Ning Xingyun put the box in his hand on the table before going to the kitchen to get a drink to relieve his thirst before going back to the living room.

 

“Nope. My boss gave me that to me earlier before the take off, he said a youngster that I save from planet La Fois ask him to give it to me” Ning Xingyun said and sit on the couch.

 

“La Fois? Then it must be a treasure.” Moya said and opened the box.

 

Seeing a gold pendant engraved with various characters that seems to give off a magical vibes, Moya exclaimed in surprise.

 

“What? You know what that is?”

 

“Yeah!!! This kind of thing costs millions of star coins in many auction houses, you know?! It's a type of thing that only nobles can enjoy!! ”

 

“Umm…awesome?” NYX said unsure what to express.

 

“If you don't want it, could you give it to me?!”

 

“I heard that that child carved the characters himself before giving it to me so there's no way that i'll give it to you!! But i never would have taught that it would that much…”

 

Ning Xingyun said with a sweatdrop, the pendant that was given to him suddenly felt heavy. To think that one day he would own something that is worth millions never cross his mind.

 

“It might be because it's really magical, La fois crave characters using their mana infusing them with spells. Materials with character engrave with them is famous for bringing dead people back to life so it might became a life-saving item for you. It was crave by a youngster though so the effect might be different. ”

Ning Xingyun put the pendant carefully in his pocket,he decided to  buy a thin chain to put it in his neck to make it a necklace before departing back to planet C, this thing might save him someday.

 

“Right! What is your plan this week?”

 

“Uh, this week?...Finish making the house in space, I was so busy that I neglect the construction for a while. Then flow the fields in the space and plant something again, and also take my farming, housekeeping and doctor robots for maintenance. I heard that a new figure in the robots appeared recently, the one that allows them to maintain each other, have you heard about it? I plan to install that on them,its kind of a hassle taking them for maintenance since its very far from the military camp.” Ning Xingyun said while looking at his hand and raise one finger after another everytime he mention a task.

He planned to make a safe haven in his space to make military life a little comfortable for him. After all, who would make theirselves suffer when there is a better way out.

 

“Construction, farming and maintenance, anything else you want to add in you schedule?!”

 

“Like what?”

 

“I don't know?! Maybe Blinddate?! Having a date with a lover?! Or maybe visiting your mother and father?!?! Dude, your 37 years old this year!! Don’t tell me you're still single?!” Moya said, attacking his relationship status that remained single for as long as he can remember.

 

“I'll wait naturally for the person who can make my heartbeat fast and visiting my family would take almost a months to do.” Ning Xingyun argues.

It's not like he doesn't want to do what Moya said but he really wasn't free right now. He is a soldier who is dedicated to the army and they are still at a war in the moment, so NYX could only trust fate in that matter of finding love. 

 

“Yeah,naturally. Wait till you’ve become an old man then.” Moya said while putting on a jacket.

 

“Going somewhere?”

 

“Yes, because unlike you, a single dog, I have a girlfriend to coax. I think she should have been calm by now.” Moya said before leaving.

 

Ning Xingyun was left alone in the room scrolling in the star internet,he was thinking about what Moya said earlier about him being so old now (he did not). He stood up and look for a mirror in the room, in it reflect a tan man with brown eyes and a curtain cut hairstyle.

 

‘I don’t think I look that old’ He thinks before putting down the mirror, he sighed again, he didn't know if he could someone to be with, there's no need to rush but if he can't, he guess he'll just have to grow old alone, though would be a very lonely life indeed.

After a couple of days of making a house in his space, playing with his robots and recovering his mana, a week has finally ended. They once again boarded the spaceship that brought them back here. They are now floating in a place void of darkness that uses other planet as light to get to their next destination, planet c.

“Hey NYX!!!A little help here!!” said by a man wearing a chefs clothes standing in front of a cargo full of of foods and kitchen equipment 

 

“Got it!!!Where should I place them?”

 

“In9 the kitchen warehouse pls,thanks”

 

“No thanks needed” said Ning Xingyun who places the materials in his space in one-go, after resting for the whole week, he recovered most of his mana back.

 

While moving the materials,the ship was shaken violently from an impact.

 

“What the hell?!?!”

 

“It's the star pirates!!!!” 

 

“It's the stolen bazooka model!!!!”

 

“”Soldiers, Gather!!Prepare for action!! Soldiers in the communication team, call for reinforcement!!” The lieutenant in this batch of soldiers said loudly, attracting the attention of the scattered soldiers.

 

Everyone tense and started to gear-up and ride their mechas to resist the enemy, the battle lasted for a while causing heavy casualties and death. It wasn't till the reinforcements arrive that the enemy retreated. The stolen bazooka model is currently the strongest model the mechanics have created to resist the zerg, yet unfortunately, it land in the hands of another enemy, star pirates, causing their loss.

 

“Sir!!! We lost 189 soldiers and 132 mechas in the battle!!” reported by the soldier beside the lieutenant

 

“Place the deceased soldiers in one room and take the wounded to the medical room!! Where’s Sergeant NYX?! Ask him to help move the soldiers and broken mechas in the repair room”The Vice General said while also instructing others to move.

 

“Sir….Sergeant NYX is among the deceased soldiers, according to the other soldiers who went with him, he went out to help transport the wounded floating in the void and was hit with the bazooka” the soldier quietly said.

 

NIng Xingyun is one of the most known astounding soldier in their camp, he is one of the soldier who has an ordinary passive ability but has a high courage to do deadly mission yet came back alive albeit seriously wounded. He is also known as a large space mobile due to the large capacity of his space ability and this ability of his is one of the reason why many soldiers in their barracks came back alive.    

 

Silence filled the for a moment before everyone continue what they were doing.

 

“There’s no point in mourning for the deceased right now, immediately attend to the wounded.”

In the room where the decrease was placed, every soldier was placed in row and a faint gold light envelop a body without anyone taking notice.

Earth year 20XX

 

The sound of the beeping machine filled the hospital room, and in the bed lay a young man who seemed to be in his 20’s. This young man quietly opened his eyes and look at the surrounding white walls and listen to the sound emitted by the television in the room.

 

“A meteoroid ◼◼ ◼◼◼ ◼◼◼ the earth's ◼◼◼, as everyone can see in the video ◼◼◼ NASA.The meteoroid seems to ◼◼◼ ◼◼◼ ◼◼the earth. ◼◼◼ was ◼◼◼ ◼◼the meteorite ◼◼◼.”

(translation:“A meteoroid has recently entered the earth's atmosphere,as everyone can see in the video shown by NASA.The meteoroid seems to have scattered around the earth.Several was wounded when the meteorite fell.”)

‘What language is that?’

As he tried to figure out what language he was hearing,the door suddenly open and a nurse came in. When the nurse saw that he was awake, she immediately pressed the bell in the wall to call the doctors to the room.

 

“Mr. Ning ◼◼ awake! Please ◼◼ a moment, the ◼◼ are on ◼◼◼ way here.We’ll ◼◼ CEO Zheng of the ◼◼ ◼◼◼” said the nurse as she press Ning Xingyun to the bed when she him trying to get up.

(translation:“Mr.Ning,you’re awake! Please wait a moment, the doctors are on their way here. We’ll inform CEO Zheng of the news immediately”)

‘What did she say? where am i?’

 

NIng Xingyun felt a pain in his chest the moment he tried to get up, he remember that his mecha was destroyed by the beam and that he was stabbed by a broken part in mecha. He was pretty sure that he should be dead right now due to blood lost and the cold feeling his body emitted at that time.

 

Suddenly waking up on an unknown planet with an unknown language, causes Ning Xingyun to panic for a moment before calming down and analyzing his situation.

 

‘This seems to be a backward planet compare to the planet near the imperial planet, which means that they still haven't develop very much in terms of technologies. The cars in here is still travelling using wheels, he might be far away from the capital and Planet C if that is the case.'

 

‘The language is also kind of familiar to me but I can’t seem to figure out where.' he thought while continue looking around.

 

Ning Xingyun keep thinking what he vaguely remembered from the television in front of bed. He tried to get up in the bed despite the pain he was feeling to look for a mirror to confirm something but was once again press down by the nurse. He tried talking using his voice that feels like it has been scarp by a sandpaper because of the hoarse voice and dryness he felt.

 

“What…planet….this” Ning Xingyun said before coughing a little, the nurse immdietly pour him water and assist him in drinking.

 

She seems to be puzzled by his question but still choose answer the patient.

 

“We ◼◼ in ◼◼ ◼◼ planet ◼◼ to the sun ◼◼ Earth,do ◼◼ any ◼◼◼ Mr.Ning?”

(translation:“We are in the third planet close to the sun called Earth,do feel any discomfort Mr.Ning?”)

He tried understanding the words that was unfamiliar to him before coming into conclusion.

‘I am on earth?! but how?! Earth has been destroyed since a zillion years ago, it was unavailable to withstand the advanced technologies the humans have created!!’ 

 

The door was opened again and this time the person wearing a suit is very eye-catching compared to the people wearing a white coat who came with him.

 

‘How handsome and cute, I like him, ah wait! I shouldn't be focusing on that right now ' yes,he is a visual animal and he seem to have become a victim of falling for a beauties looks at first sight.

 

“Mr.Ning, your Husband ◼ ◼◼”

 

‘Yes? Who's husband? Mine?’

 

“You ◼◼ ◼◼◼ to die ◼◼ you? Why ◼◼ you ◼ me ◼◼ ◼ so I can hebh you?! ◼◼◼a ◼ car in the ◼◼ of night ◼◼◼, why ◼◼ you ◼ die ◼◼◼ and ◼◼ me in peace?! ◼◼ does ◼◼◼ sound?!”

(translation:“You are rushing to die aren't you? Why don't you tell me next time so I can help you?! Driving a sport car in the middle of night drunk,why don’t you just die quietly and leave me in peace?!How does that sound?!”)

‘En? I think he's cursing me to die?’

Pretending he didn’t understand the word die, he smile at the man wearing suit causing the people around them to look at him strangely.
