......

On the hillside, a man was standing in a strange position. The man’s feet were stretched apart, toes touching the ground with the heels lifted, hands raised high above the head, his head tilted up, and faint spiritual qi constantly circled around his body, but before it could get too close to him, as if being blocked by some invisible wall, dispersed into thin air.

The man continued his practice in this bizarre position, inhaling spiritual qi into his body, but to no avail.

Moonlight shone down, enveloping the man's body. His handsome and unblemished face was calm, as if covered by a layer of mist. However, if one looked deeper, one would discover beads of sweat trickling down his face with faint traces of exhaustion.

Naturally, it was Roy.

He was distressed that his attempts to absorb the surrounding's spiritual qi showed no success. Though he had gained sufficient information about cultivation and such that also stated his predicament, it wouldn't hurt to try to give it a shot.

"Huft~ as I thought. I can't seem to be able to draw any spiritual qi." he sighed softly.

"If I can't even cultivate wouldn't I be considered as good as dead!?" It was a fact that couldn't be any more true -- especially in this unknown cultivation world where power is absolute. In addition, he was now being in the wilderness, technically without any strength to protect himself -- the probability of him dying here would be no less than 100%.

However that wasn't really the case now that he already had the system.

Roy pulled up his character sheet again, it's convenient that he was able to open and close any of the windows with a simple thought.

System Points : 100

I haven't been able to ask this before, but now, what is this System Points? "System," he muttered casually.

[DING]

[Replying to the host..]

[System Points is a credit given to the host as a reward for completing Mission System ]

[Mission System provides mission to the host, completion of these mission rewards system points and props]

"What does it do? I mean System Points." he asked curiously, his eyes flickered.

[System Points can be exchanged with various items in the System Store]

[System Points can also be used to increase The Host's Statistics]

"Eeh.." he revealed a thoughtful look. “What are the methods to obtain system points?”

[Host can obtain system points by completing the missions and also by killing the creatures with energy such as the magical beasts in this forest as well as other human beings]

[Just binding this system have given host a 100 system points]

"What?! So you are saying that I can only earn system points by killing others?" Roy shuddered at the thought, he was fully understood his current predicament. It's not like he had any choice now that he was unable to cultivate normally, he was prepared to ask the system to heal his spiritual body root too.

[There's another way to obtain System Points, that is for the host to cultivate normally and to break his mortal shackles]

[The higher the host's cultivation base, the higher the rewards]

" ..But I can't se-" his words cutted midway.

[However, the system has detected that the host's spiritual body root has been severely destroyed, and by the system's estimate it's not possible to restore. Therefore, this method is currently not viable]

"What did you say? How could it be impossible? Didn't you just regenerate my limbs easily when I awoke for the first time in this forest?" he complained sincerely.

[Correct, but not right]

[Originally, the system did possess a feature to recover the host from injury but only to a limited extent, not to the point of a large-scale regeneration. More importantly, the feature only works for recovering a physical injury, while a spiritual body root is an intangible object]

[As for the host's previous regeneration is possible because of the external energy within the host's innate bloodline]

"What? My innate bloodline? If I'm not wrong then my bloodline is.. " Roy was contemplating a bit before looking at his status window.

Innate Bloodline: Unknown

Unknown

Damn! How could it be?

"System, do you really have no recollection of what kind of innate bloodline I'm having?" Roy asked gloomily.

"I mean, I'm clearly a human but how is my innate bloodline unknown? what even is an innate bloodline?"

[DING]

[Replying to the host..]

[Innate Bloodlines are special innate abilities belonging to certain clans and races. However, in a rare case belong to a specific individual]

[Bloodlines, inherently give its users advantages that normal people do not possess. Bloodlines are often passed down by one's parents.]

[During the early stages of one's cultivation Bloodlines play a large role, as one does not need to contemplate Martial Comprehension to advance to the next level, but simply requires sufficient Natural Spiritual Qi of the World]

[In this way, someone who possesses a Bloodline would never meet a bottleneck during the early stages of their cultivation. However this is both can be a blessing and a curse, as without large amounts of cultivation resources that possess abundant Natural Spiritual Qi of the World, it would be impossible for their cultivation to advance.]

[As for what kind of innate bloodline the host possesses, as of now, the system is unable to detect further. The reason being the system's defective, incomplete form. ]

[Therefore, the host's next mission after becoming a cultivator is to find the System Sparks. The system had a total of 5 sparks scattered over.]

"Eh" he was dumbstruck. System Spark? Incomplete form?

Ha

"So it's like that.." bulging veins was apparent on his face.
"I've always wondered why you are not too competent as a 'guide' the first time I came to." he snickered.

[ ]

Anyway, I should be able to utilize battle arts to some extent even as a mortal right? But I don't even have any weapon right now.

While still pondering, he opened [System Store] with a thought.

Following Roy's command, the display screen altered to a new layout.

[System Store]

Weaponry

-<mortal weapons>

-Low Earth-Grade : Locked

-Middle Earth-Grade : Locked

-High Earth-Grade : Locked

-Sky Grade : Locked

-??

-???

-?

Eh?! There are even a Sky-Grade Weapons available in the system!

Sky-Grade Weapons are vastly different in many aspects from those in the lower grades, apart from the extremely rare materials it used, the prerequisites for one to be able to wield such frightening weapon is said to be life-challenging, it was unclear what the requirements is. But many had said, it was related to soul-binding of some sort.

It was said that in the entire Garrhant Continent, the number of people who owned such terrifying weapons can only be counted with one hand!

Roy smiled lightly ".. there are so many question marks.." he was thrilled at future possibilities.

Huh locked? What a shame.

Oh well, since I am only a mortal right now, first I will ..

Let's see..

[Mortal Weapons]

⋆Sword

⋆Halberd

⋆Dagger

⋆Spear

⋆Bow

⋆Gauntlet

...

[Sword]

Ordinary Long Sword

cost: Free

In the end, Roy chose an ordinary-looking sword--ones that matched with his battle art. The metal of the carved guard, and leather-bound hilt, balanced the thick, heavy blade efficiently. The ordinary-looking sword hovered in the air.

His eyes was musing upon the sight.

Reaching outward, he took it by the hilt. With a flick of his thump, the blade clicked and glinted in the light. Roy gave it a few more swings, adjusting his stance to compensate for the weight of the sword, which seemed to become lighter as he became accustomed to it.

"The balance of this sword is impeccable, I think." he commented earnestly.

Putting aside his newly obtained weapon, he continued to explore the system's window, as if not wanting to miss even a small detail within.

He then tapped on the description panel of the <Special Skill> to see what it was about. A new screen accommodatingly appeared, but as the second screen, the space in front of him was getting crowded.

He absentmindedly thought it would be convenient for the other screens to close, which they immediately did.

Special Skill: <<Devour>>

Description: A special ability to devour anything.

Requirements:

✸The activation consumes Mysthic Energy.

✸The target must be an inanimate object.

✸Only works in a direct physical contact.

!?

I wasn't paying attention before but now this is..

No matter how you look at it, isn't this skill a bit.. too overpowered?! And moreover, what the heck is with that vague description?! Can't you at least give me a tad longer explanation of the skill? Am I meant to understand with only this little sentence?

"System, what is this even mean? Can you elaborate please." he asked with a small sigh, while facepalmed himself.

[DING!!]

[Replying to the host..]

[It means exactly as it is written]

-_-

..

The surroundings were quiet, aside from the sound from the burning and crackling of firewood. Roy lied underneath a huge tree, his breathing light.

But suddenly, at this moment, Roy heard the soft rustle of footsteps coming from the other direction of the hillside. In a patch of dark grass, a pair of red eyes flashed by. This pair of red eyes was filled with a vicious blood-thirst.

The owner of those pair of red eyes was a wild beast. The height of this wild beast was around half a human, with a horse-like tail, four rough and powerful legs, sharp curved claws, and two strands of red hair standing upright on its back.

The row of sharp teeth seemed able to tear anything apart. From the front, looked somewhat like a dog. Although wild beasts are cruel and bloodthirsty, they were still somewhat intelligent.

The dog-like creature had been observing from the shadows for quite a long time. Its sensitive nose was able to detect the enemy’s weapon and tell from the smell of a person whether they were strong or not.

The bizarre dog had smelled Roy for about a minute and came to the conclusion that this was a free dinner. It moved forward step by step in a domineering manner. When it was just a few steps away from its prey, it abruptly bent it's hind legs and pounced forth savagely.
