Chapter 18: The little chick and her wings.

A red-haired girl holding an egg looked rather impatient after hours of being left out on the search. "Hmm... they certainly are taking so long." (Lady Serene) started kicking her feet out of boredom.

When she finally sees that the noble boy Lord Ein Loucrat came back with no one else in tow she was worried. "Where's Evelyn? Did you find the commoner girl that you were looking for?" she asks, walking up to him in a rush.

It's already turning so late, if they couldn't find her today then they can just continue tomorrow. The chances of getting a cold at this time is high, and since the only person who knows how to use [Light Magic] is missing, best not to get sick at all.

Lord Ein gave a stiff smile and explained to the girl what had happened, "Miss Analissa, she's been found locked in a bathroom stall for the whole day. Lady Evelyn has volunteered to watch over her until she gets well."

"Eh?! That commoner girl got locked in a bathroom stall?! For what reason?!" (Lady Serene) angrily stomps her feet, all this time they were looking everywhere in the commoner hall only to not suspect the bathroom where all most of the bullying happens.

"It better be a good reason and not a petty one for locking her in there, if not we wasted our time trying to find her." she continues and the boy shakes his head, another problematic person who's too arrogant and perhaps selfish to even think of others.

Lady Serene Sinclair.

A character who's been introduced as one of the villainess' lackeys and a pain in the neck in the game.

The villainess might be calm, cool and collected but just a tool against political marriage. Since the heroine has not been ideally pursuing her fiancé and is aware that the heroine is trying her best to get away from the said fiancé, the game hasn't unlocked her scheming personality yet.

Making her one of the hardest bosses in the game.

This girl on the other hand is ill-tempered, easy to get angry, selfish and tends to spout spiteful things against commoners for personal reasons.

"It seems these were the same perpetrators that ruined Miss Analissa's uniform before. At least that's what I have heard, they did it because of jealousy towards her gaining the attention of the crown prince." (Lord Ein)

"Ugh! Her and that crown prince again! This is why I told Evelyn to just leave that commoner girl be!" (Lady Serene) almost drops the egg in anger but thankfully she didn't. The news of the commoner girl gaining the crown prince's attention is giving her a headache. 

Not only will it give Evelyn unwanted attention such as rumors that her fiancé might be cheating, this will make her friend lose face against the Duke.

She wants to see her childhood friend but she can't. If she's not back in her dormitory by night her maids will form a ruckus trying to find her and then report back to their estate of how she's being unladylike again.

Lady Serene roughly sighs looking at Lord Ein, "In any case- I cannot visit her dorms at the moment, I suspect that is where she took the commoner girl- I cannot believe the future queen took in a commoner to her room."

Lord Ein couldn't believe it either but it was for a good cause so certainly this won't hurt the serious lady over something like this. He was even glad that this lady in front of him would be busy to visit those two just in case something starts progressing.

"Truly, I cannot believe it either but it is what it is. We'll just hope for Miss Analissa to have a swift recovery." he looks at her with a smile before continuing. "Let us be off. We will see them in class so need not to worry."

Lady Serene clicked her tongue, "I'm more worried if that commoner girl spreads her sickness. It will not go unpunished if she does. Good day, Lord Ein." with a small curtsy she runs off with the egg feeling like she wasted her time.

Lord Ein looks at the girl's fleeting figure taking in her words, surely Lady Evelyn won't catch the blonde girl's cold.

It was almost night, it took the villainess a while before she could arrive to her dorms while carrying the blonde girl in her arms. Part of her were worried someone will see this act of hers thinking she has become close with the commoner or... the most likely option.

People would think Lady Evelyn Alarie, the jealous fiancé of the crown prince, is taking care of the threats of their marriage by hand. Would they think of this heroic act- as an act of planning to torture the commoner girl?

"Oh dear it's another one. By far her jealousy is truly the cruelest. Look at that poor girl..."

"Another one? Of right- anyone who dared to even take a glance at the crown prince would be taken care of by Lady Evelyn."

"I heard it's a problematic relationship not meant to last, political marriage is truly unfortunate."

Then again, she was pretty sure all the reputation she had left was being the jealous fiancé of the crown prince.

What can she do?

The task has befallen her shoulders.

If another woman took the crown prince and called a divorce upon the Alarie family... What would her parents say? All their hard work only to be destroyed by their disappointment of a daughter.

"Ngh... it's... hot... I can't breathe..." (Analissa) with a hot forehead unconsciously pulls one of the villainess' sleeves, clenching it tightly.

"It hurts..." she mutters weakly, implying that her head hurts.

Lady Evelyn couldn't help but felt like she was being pulled in by her. Those fluffy blonde hair she has secretly wanted to braid... she couldn't help but caress them gently in hopes it'll make the girl feel reassured.

"I... It's okay. I'll get you to safety, Miss Blanchet." her hands traveled through her hair.

Never would she think she'll be doing this towards someone who she thought of a threat to her plans. She just looked so weak she couldn't just stand doing nothing.

Analissa could feel something soothing like a brush of someone's hand. It was so cold still it felt nice, she wanted that hand to her face as well.

"Mom..." (Analissa) called out unconsciously pulling onto the villainess' sleeves some more.

Mother?

The villainess questioned, perhaps on her fever she's having hallucinations and wanted to correct the girl on how she's not her birth giver.

"Miss Blanchet you're with a fever, I am... not your-" she was about to tell the blonde girl who sniffled, something inside her must've snapped.

"Sniff... sniff... Mom..." (Analissa) nuzzled her face imagining the one holding her was her caretaker back in her original world.

Seeing her in this state Lady Evelyn didn't have the strength to correct her anymore.

"Er... never mind... let's just get you to my room now, shall we?" With one more worried look towards the girl, all the horrible whispers seemed to have disappeared in her head.

The only thing that was now ringing in her mind was to get this girl into her room and treat her fever.

Soon the noble lady's dormitory was coming to view, her maids were waiting at the side of the dormitory. The servants of nobles were required to stand outside of their dormitory as they waited and welcomed back their masters.

Of course when they saw their lady was holding the same commoner girl that they came to fetch before they were perplexed and a bit shocked. The three of them hurriedly went by her side, "Milady-! You're carrying the blonde girl from before- please let us-"

"No. I will take her to my room, she's with a fever. I will need one of you to grab some medicine and visit her dormitory to take the egg, prepare her something to eat and one will help me to get her upstairs." (Lady Evelyn) looks at her maid who then looks at each other.

Has her lady gone insane- they were pretty sure this noble girl has never tried nursing someone back to health? Nor does she have any good reason to.

However, orders are orders. So they all decided to take action.

"I will take care of the medicine and visit the commoner's dormitory." The first one headed her way outside the academy and into the city to get some medicine before turning to the commoner dormitory.

"Then I will prepare some porridge, the kitchen is near so I shall be quick." The second maid rushed to the kitchen, she decided that the best comfort food while having a cold is some chicken soup with hot tea and brought some orange fruits on the side.

"Milady, I will help you bring her up. Please, you must be tired from carrying her over to the dorms in heels." The third maid tried offering to carry the blonde girl from her lady who reluctantly agreed.

"Please." (Lady Evelyn) was about to try and give the blonde girl away but Analissa didn't want to be apart. The blonde girl was cuddling and holding onto her sleeves to the point it seemed like she was like a little chick who's sharp claws were spread holding her down.

The villainess could see the girl's hands clenching down on her clothes, the maid saw the scene as well and was raising her eyebrows.

"..." (Lady Evelyn) couldn't help but bite her lip as she stared at the girl's furrowed eyebrows. It seems that her body is responding unconsciously to being separated. She didn't want to be away from the villainess and that made Lady Evelyn question her entire mission.

The villainess swore to be close enough to gain information to use against the blonde girl if she dares try and take the crown prince creating some chaos within the court but-

She's honestly too cute, Lady Evelyn thought in her head which she immediately diminished feeling like it was wrong to admire your classmate like this.

"If you need me, milady, I can pull her away with force-" the maid readied her arms but the flustered villainess decided that it would be best indeed- that she'll just be the one continuing to carry her.

"No need. I am afraid that she will proceed to cry if you pull her away. That will create some unwanted attention." (Lady Evelyn) excused, it was mostly the truth when she was about to give Analissa to her maid she looked like she was about to cry.

"But milady if someone sees you like this-" the maid tries to persuade her some more but it seems like the stubborn villainess will not budge anymore, not willing to give her away as she walks towards the stairs and into her room.

The maid could only follow in a worry, she made sure she was never in front of her master as she walked.
