Taking an arrow out of the quiver that had been tucked away in the newbie adventurer’s starter pack, Vaughn pulled back the bowstring like he’d seen many times in webtoons by the archer characters, who were usually girls–now why was that? Maybe some Katniss Everdeen effect? Perhaps it was a believable combat role for girls to have them involved–and more importantly, winning—in the fighting part of a story without having to overexplain why the skinny pretty female lead could overpower the typecasted muscular bad guy with a seventy pound and fifteen inch reach advantage on her without resorting to the magical kung-fu powers explanation.

Ah, yeah, that was probably why.

Anyway, from his totally scientific and definitely not bullshit understanding of archery that came from reading webtoons, Vaughn knew that all he had to do was breathe deep, aim, and then his plot driven isekai powers would guide his arrow straight and true through the air like an episode of Dragon Ball Z with the accuracy of a thousand suns into all of the bad guys that threatened his friends.

He aimed at the middle of a group of four bouncing green slimes, stepping in a bit closer to increase his chance of hitting them because even though his internal monologue suggested otherwise, Vaughn absolutely knew that he was a shit shot in reality. Ah, the woes of having the self-aware trait.

Stepping closer was actually an understatement. Vaughn Hallows closed the distance so much that he was nearly poking the arrow directly into one of the slime’s bodies.

Finally, having locked eyes with his buoyant target and mentally calculated the flight path of five inches with his supercomputer brain and ultra instinct, allowing for ample aiming adjustment for the arc of the arrow influenced by gravity, Vaughn let loose his right hand from the bow string, sending an arrow flying a glorious, soaring, two inch long flight of the dragon through the air before landing straight into the belly of an innocent green slime.

The arrow pierced into the slime’s body like a firearms demonstration video showing off their fancy pewpew device on ballistic gelatin.

Bam.

It was an instant kill, an OHKO for those in the know about the forbidden terminology from the pokemon equivalent of the dungeons and dragons 5th edition manual, smogon.

[You have defeated a Lesser Green Slime.]

[You gained some experience, whoohoo, good for you.]

[Class quest status updated.]

[Defeat a slime with a bow (1/1)]

[Class quest objective completed.]

[You have completed an Archer class quest.]

[Your dexterity has increased marginally.]

[Requirements for additional class quest line have been fulfilled.]

[Please seek guidance from a teacher to further your development as an Archer. There are several hunters that reside in the plains outside of the capital. You may talk to the head imperial hunting instructor that resides in one of those huts for further instructions.]

Geez, this world sounded pretty massive. All Vaughn had seen so far was the path leading to this cave, and then the inside of this cave, so he had kind of forgotten that the original pillar talked about coral reefs and stuff.

Vaughn looked blankly at the slime he had just killed with a point blank gut shot with his longbow, before remembering that he was supposed to do some Galileo-like experimentation here.

Taking the vial out of his lush hand sewn adventurer’s cashmere pocket, Vaughn scooped up a blob of green slime into the vial. The green slightly shimmering liquid settled into the vial with surprising ease, displaying relatively low viscosity after a moment of resistance slipping down the vial like a blob of jelly.

With that done, Vaughn activated Identify on the newly created vial.

[Mysterious Healing Potion (epic)]– Although this healing potion is deathly green like a poison, it contains a powerful healing effect. It is made of a strange ingredient.

You have determined that the ingredient in this potion is [Lesser Green Slime].

Your familiarity with [Lesser Green Slime] has increased.

Your familiarity with [Slimes] has increased.

Would you look at that? His familiarity stats were going up because he made the potion. Very interesting.

Were you expecting something edgy to come from Vaughn’s thoughts right now?

Quite the contrary. As baby Vaughn had been born and molded in a business and vodka rich environment, young adult Vaughn could smell money in the water like a shark. He now had a searing desire to bottle up and run lab tests on these new substances once he was back on Earth, so that he could slap some patents on them, pass them through the FDA, and then sell them for their magical rejuvenative powers and rake in the monopoly money.

Wouldn’t it be great to open up a new pharmaceutical research corporation à la Jurassic Park’s own InGen, the bioengineering start-up corporation founded by John Hammond, or its genetic material stealing competitor Biosyn, founded in Cupertino California?

He could go the IPO route, or if he wanted to, he could cash in a hell of a lot earlier as well. All he had to do was raise enough capital to get the ship running, then sell it off to a greedy private equity firm that only saw dollar signs in their eyes which would then try–and most certainly fail–to replicate his research brilliance.

Despite that last comment, Vaughn was dead serious about this endeavor.

He was going to found a bioengineering pharmaceutical company, and monetize the everliving fuck out of every single plant and animal that existed in this world. Or at least the ones he had high [Familiarity] with.

But to do that, he needed a catchy name.

It had to be somewhat intimidating, and something that rolled off the tongue nicely. InGen was International Genetics Corporation, BioSyn was Biology Synthetics Inc.

How about Synthetic Dungeon Pharmaceuticals Corporation? Shortened to… Sintech Pharmaceuticals?

Sintech Pharmaceuticals. It had a good ring to it.

A floating blue box appeared in front of Vaughn’s face, catching him by surprise.

Do you wish to form the corporation [Sintech Dungeon Pharmaceuticals]?

Normally if this was something adventurer related, Vaughn would barely read the notification and just autopilot to confirm.

But this particular notification sounded suspiciously like a contract, and the system didn't even attempt to crack a joke. Vaughn’s business senses were tingling. He decided to investigate a bit further before proceeding. And what better place to start than the suspiciously underlined word in the notification? Vaughn air-clicked into it, which sent him into another window with a shockingly large amount of information labelled [Formation of a corporation].
