Rituals are one of the two main types of occult magic. They typically take place in a fixed location, usually a magic circle of sorts. But not always, as it can be done through other means. Though speaking on that point, just because something is done a certain way normally, doesn’t mean it always will. This is a rule that can be applied to all of occult magic, as there is never just one way to do something.

Though back to rituals, often called the safer half of occult magic. Which is for the most part true, but not because it isn’t dangerous. Because there are several ways to mitigate and lessen the danger presented. That is one stabilizer, which helps stabilize the magic that is channeled through the body.

The next is magic conductors, which are somewhat rare and expensive to buy or make properly. But essential to any serious ritualist, as they aim to shift the major burden of channeling from the caster to the conductor. These are best used for common rituals, as they do have a hard cap that is hard to increase past a certain point.

If the first two are combined then a ritualist can achieve a ritual with little strain on themselves and little chance of warping. This is the main reason why rituals are viewed as vastly safer than spells. Though it would be more accurate to say that small to medium-sized rituals are vastly safer than spells. Large-scale rituals on the other hand are usually just as dangerous if not even more dangerous than spells of their equivalent size. As large scale rituals are unable to use conductors to take the burden and stabilizers only being able to handle stabilizing the stain up to a certain point. Afterward, it provides diminishing assistance

Meaning that most large rituals are suicidal for a single person to attempt alone. Therefore most large-scale rituals are done with groups of no less than six people. To allow the strain to be spread over several people. Leaving each person to channel a small, more manageable, portion of the spell. One that the stabilizer will be able to assist.  Though it should be noted that it is quite difficult to coordinate a ritual and intense training is needed to safely be able to participate in a group ritual.

Though one must note that using multiple people makes large-scale rituals safer and more reliable to succeed. The price of failure increases with the number of people involved in the ritual.
