Chapter 5: The Demon Lord and a Lokia Pro.

"Y-You know Isabella?!"

Azel asks her cat hers from the top of her head were twitching when she heard her name. She couldn't help her tail for wagging around very suggestively as well and she was rather happy to hear the name.

The pink haired witch blinked a few times and smiled proceeding to lie, "Y-Yeah! We're like super mega besties I tell you." she laughs in a panic walking closer to the demon lord who has her guard lowered down.

"Besties?" (Azel) asks, unfamiliar with the slang of today's generation but she was thinking it means... best of friends?

"Yeah! Besties! Bestfriends yada yada! How come you have a portrait of her anyways?" the witch asks, turning back into the lovely portrait of her Milady Cordelia. "It looks super old though. I didn't know you were into Isabella even back then- how did you even manage to get her into that frilly dress. She looks extra mature here than in real life. How did you two even meet?"

The pink haired girl looked at her more closely and noticed that Isabella in the portrait had even more expensive jewelry!

But- aren't they broke right now? Like super broke they can't even have a decent meal?

Azel admires the portrait of her lady before calming the inner demon inside. Slowly her anger subsided, all forgotten. Her ears and tail still stayed wagging happily looking at the witch. "That is... because she's not your friend. She is my human master whom I served before."

The witch opened her mouth in an 'O', all surprised because these two really looked alike. "The demon lord served someone before?! A human?! Oh my gosh! This is the tea for my other witch besties-" she takes out her phone and takes a picture of the portrait.

Not only the portrait but she motions for Azel to get into the camera and squeeze into the shot.

Click!

"Hey bitches it's your ghorl! Lucinda with the demon lord! Guess what bitches I'm not dead yet! Mwuah! Who's laughing now?" she says while typing out every word onto her keyboard happily.

Soon many reactions from her witch friends are full of hearts and envious emotes.

To think she can take a picture of the demon lord!

There was almost none in the world!

The demon lord rarely accepts visitors because only strong people may enter or those who have the mark of the demon lord, also known as her loyal human servants. The place she has right now has a strong barrier that keeps weak beings away.

Azel rolled her eyes and stared curiously at the phone.

"You can communicate with others with that small thing?" she pointed at her pineapple phone and seemed baffled with the new technology.

"Yeah! You can totally connect to other people online as long as you have wifi- wait- don't tell me-!" she stops to look at the demon lord in shock, Azel raises her eyebrows in question wondering what this witch is up to now.

"D-Don't tell me you don't have a phone?! A social account?! Mewtube? Instafan?! Snapgram?! Backbook?! Anything?!" (Lucinda) yells out and the demon lord's sensitive ears are hurt.

"Hisss!"

"Ah sorry! I'm just so shocked. How can you live without the internet nowadays? Like you know information- news- entertainment?" she lists every single thing with her fingers going up each time. "Just like- how?"

"I am the demon lord that enslaves the vessel of a demon cat. I just sleep, eat, and drink. If I am bored I read books and take a walk in my garden. Don't people still do that?" (Azel) asks innocently and oh how is she so right but so wrong at the same time!

"Well- you're right but many of my generation would rather stay home. It's not safe these days! Especially in the night where you can be cornered at a party and be drugged. Or like be kidnapped and be sold for a lot because of your organs-" the witch told the demon lord who clearly is not interested in human affairs and the danger it causes.

For her, nothing changed.

The same thing happens again and again.

"I know all of that. Tell me something I haven't known." (Azel) didn't like getting into sensitive topics because one thing will lead to another. She can't be around others because she causes bad luck but if she sticks with Isabella.

Somehow the curse disappears.

"Jeez sorry I forget you're a being made to bring bad luck to the world." the moment she said that, one step forward the floorboard broke.

Crash!

"Ah." (Lucinda) looks down at her foot that was now stuck under the floor. She looked up at Azel who grins and bends down a bit. "Witch, the more you spend time in my domain the more the curse will take effect. Your little anti-bad luck charm won't help you being safe from my curse."

Azel eyes the little necklace that had enchantments on it.

Something to keep the bad luck for a temporary amount of time, it seems that the effect could only last three hours before the charm runs out.

"However, I commend you for making a charm like this. Usually one would break in a second if they're a few inches away from me." her long claws take the enchantment and inspect it. "A talented witch who crosses my border but is not strong enough to be my owner. You do amuse me, so do visit when you make another working charm."

Lucinda pouts her face all red and tries getting her foot unstuck from the floor. "Hngh..." she grabbed a hold of her lower leg and began pulling but she was afraid the wood might leave splinters in her skin.

Azel rolls her eyes at the fragile woman in front of her and helps her out by breaking the other floorboards that were keeping her stuck. "Here. Now get out of my house before you get hurt some more."

I show her to the door and with her broom parked to the side. She raises her hand, "Come here." She orders the broom to fly and Lucinda immediately catches it.

"Hey demon lord! I'll be back once I conjure another anti-bad luck charm! I'll take a while but if you have a phone by the time I come back I might give you Isabella's phone number!" she waves at Azel who flies off into the sun.

Azel tilts her head in confusion, "What's a phone... number?"

.-.-.-.-.-.

Azel sits around her house for days wondering when will the witch come back and finally explain to her what a phone number is. "Why is she taking so long to make a charm? It's quite simple..."

And not only does she miss the witch's presence but her trusty loyal servant as well.

Surely one of these fine days her servant would go back to this place...

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Speak of the devil." The demon lord stands up walking towards the door and opens it. She could see a short old man with a long white mustache on his chin. He was smiling happily while holding a lot of bags. "Geoffrey, welcome back."

The old man bows to his contractor with a smile. "Master. I'm back from my long journey in the city. Thank you for allowing me to spend some time in the family before I go back to serving you once more."

Azel nodded, helping her servant with the bags and asked, "In your room?"

"Master, no need to help this servant of yours." (Geoffrey) worriedly looks at his master trying to catch up to her but it was to no avail. He was rather old and weak, the demon lord would lose face if she let an old man carry all these things by herself inside the house.

She's a little mad that she hasn't noticed his presence in her domain.

Anything that comes inside the barrier she would detect really easily but... she's been distracted lately by the thought of her new bride. "No... I want to carry these things and I need to ask you a few questions after, Geoffrey."

Geoffrey perks up curiously at the words of his master. Usually one should be asleep or she should be reading a book right about now but why is it that she's out and about?

"Yes master. Anything that you wish to know I will answer." (Geoffrey) takes his cane and enters inside the demon lord's lair.

Azel quickly puts all his servant's belongings in place of his spacious room and comes back to their house living room. Many vintage sofas, tables and chairs that were made in the 1800s were in good condition.

Geoffrey, the old butler of hers sat down at the sofa due to the uneasy feeling of pain at his back. "Ah... Master, what is it that you need to ask of this one?" he smiles at the demon lord. Remembering his years, almost all his life was meant to serve the demon in front of him.

"Do you have a phone I could have?" she asks the old man who made a confused face.

"Pardon me, Master. A phone?" he couldn't help but blink a few times. Not once has his master became interested in modern technology.

What happened in the few weeks he was away?

"I... do have a phone, Master. However... its quite old." (Geoffrey) takes out an old Lokia Phone Pro. It was so thick, nothing like the thin phone the pink haired witch had before. The transparent screen keyboard was no more- it had buttons that you had to press. "Here."

He offers it to the demon lord who accepts it gratefully but squints in confusion.

"I see... this is very old. The witch that visited me seemed to have... different ones with floating images and floating letters you can type. It is very thin as well." she inspects the phone more properly and sighs.

The old version of the phone seemed to be working properly but for some reason she can't forget about the phone the witch had.

"I... need the new ones. It looks... cool." she says while looking down at the floor. "With the floating thing..."

The old man laughs seeing the demon lord in such a state. It was like a little child asking for candy. "Master, it's available in city stores if you'd want. I can go get it for you." (Geoffrey) stands up from his seat, holding the cane but Azel shakes her head.

"I can go buy it myself. I just need whatever currency they use right now." by the mention of currency. The old man takes a black card out of his pocket and gives it to the demon lord. "Master, this is the money of your share from our company. Everything you need to pay with, you just have to swipe it with this."

Azel takes the black card out of his hands. "This little square card have money inside?" she asks her Servant not believing such a tiny little thing would contain coins and bills!

"Yes, Master. It has money inside and of course you can use that money- but this card's money is infinite due to the success and luck you've given our family. We're forever in debt." (Geoffrey) bows his head a little in respect and Azel looks at her door.

She needs a guide on the new human era.

"Geoffrey, accompany me on buying things from my old city. Things that today's generation would think are 'cool' and such." (Azel) takes her hand and lets out one of her sharp claws.

"You'd let this old man accompany you, Master?" he walks towards the same door from before.

Taking the sharp nail, she cuts her arm and draws a circle on the door with a few more engravings. It took a few more minutes before the blood circle of teleportation worked, soon it glowed and even a small breeze could be felt under the door.

"Hold my hand and don't let go. We'll teleport together."

The old man rested his hands onto the demon lord's palms and smiled. "It's the first time in a while that you're going out in years, Master."

Azel looked at her servant and couldn't help but furrowed her eyebrows in place. "Geoffrey... I have a bride now. That's why I need... to look decent the next time I meet her by chance."

The old man held his heart feeling a heart attack incoming but stopped and yelled. "Wait what?! Master, you're getting a bride?!"
