Chapter 10: Where's the playstore?

After the witch took another three hours back to travel to her city. She hides her broom into a private space only she can access and takes a look at the note that she took from the cottage.

Lucinda looked around and realized this block was really close to where Isabella lives.

"For the love of-" she cursed quietly feeling the exhaustion of not eating anything while using her magic power to travel loads of miles back just to realize she literally didn't have to.

The witch looked up to inspect the fancy apartment building in front of her and admired how expensive it looked.

"Hmm... Well at least she took a pretty nice place to settle in." She compliments the aesthetic of the building, she takes out her phone with a glee taking a selfie before adjusting some filters posting it in her socials.

She shrugs seeing the thousands of likes quickly notify her, walking inside of the apartment building to find a man in front who notices her bright pink hair out of place with the others.

"Hello ma'am. Are you here to book an apartment?" he asks Lucinda who eyes the human and shakes her head in answer.

"No~ I would love to though I love what you guys have here- but I'm actually here to visit a friend. Is there anyone booked with the name Azel here?" (Lucinda) leans over the counter impatiently and the man takes his list, noticing that there was someone named Azel booked at the very top suite of the apartment building.

"Yes! It appears that you are the guest the Hua Lin family are waiting for. Please do follow me." he tells the witch who stopped to hear something peculiar.

Lucinda blinks a few times before muttering the name she has never heard before. "H-Hua Lin family?"

She wasn't aware that the demon lord had a last name?

And for it to be an Asian last name... she didn't really look Asian so she never would've guessed.

Maybe it's a human alias?

"Right I'll just um follow you." (Lucinda) bowed respectfully following the man in his hotel staff uniform and led her into the elevator.

"We'll be going to the top floor suite." he smiles, pushing the button to the twentieth floor earning a small beeping noise before she could feel the elevator moving up.

"Just curious- how long did she like to move in here?" (Lucinda) asks still can't believe that the actual indoor cat demon left her paradise cottage for a sweet modern suite where there would be a lot of humans going to service her.

The man had to remember the rush the hotel had just to get everything prepared. So many people were in a fuss just last week because of that woman- it honestly left him a sour taste in his mouth but when he saw an actual beauty-

Talking to him about the said room being renovated in a rush, all anger within his heart seems to have disappeared. Though- her clothes were a bit weird he couldn't help but swoon over the mysterious woman.

Though when the mysterious alluring woman passed her, his pen suddenly went rolling down and went out of ink which was weird...

"About a week ago, ma'am." he answers with a slight tint of redness on his face and Lucinda couldn't help but pout. All that three hour trip for nothing. She better have a good explanation for moving out!

Just when the thought crossed her mind, a part of the elevator scenery showed a part of Isabella's old crumpling apartment and it all made sense. "That demon is so crushing on Isabella. Jeez, just because she looks like the same human master she served before." (Lucinda) crossed her arms tapping her foot impatiently.

Ding!

As the elevator floor got closer, the lights on the elevator flicked for a moment before finally coming onto a stop.

"Here we are ma'am." he escorts her out of the elevator taking a step out but not until he realizes that his new shoes suddenly broke.

"Huh? That's weird..." the bottom part of the shoe out of nowhere just fell out.

Lucinda grimaced and knew that the bad luck was already covering the entire suite. A normal human without a charm would certainly not survive the peril so this innocent staff has to go immediately!

"Good sir! I'm like totally good. So like, you can go down now and do your boring office job. I can open the door and get in myself you know." The witch walked towards the elevator button and began pressing down about a dozen times before it opened.

"There you go!" She drags the staff boy up and pushes him inside the elevator, giving a slight wave. "Bye bye now!"

The man, although confused, decided to just play along and besides he can't really escort the miss any further with a broken shoe so he just waved and replied, "Goodbye to you as well ma'am."

Ding!

As soon as the elevator door closed she felt like bursting inside there and began yelling out all the questions she was meaning to ask like- jeez never mind all this anger and stress will give her pimples.

Ew.

So instead of getting angry she decided to calm down and walked towards the door of the suit. Lucinda with her manners, knocks first before waiting for someone to open the door.

"Good evening, milady." To her surprise, an old man holding a cane opened the door with a soft smile. "You are the witch I've been hearing off. My master has been expecting you, please come inside."

Lucinda, having a soft heart for the elderly bows a little in his direction and drops off the informality in her speech. "My name is Lucinda Lockheart. I came here for um-" she stops looking around to try and spot the demon lord.

She was trying to be careful if this old man in front of her knows the demon lord-

"Oh wait- did you just say master? Are you a servant of Azel?" (Lucinda) asks accidentally using the demon lord's first name but she didn't take it into mind.

The old man however noticed her using it so he assumed these two must be at least friends or acquaintances. "Yes. I am the servant of the demon lord and she has been waiting for you. Let us not tarry." he ushers the witch in who takes another look around the place.

It seemed to have been renovated very well, from the soft looking sofas, desks, and-

"Are those real plants and flowers?" she points at a small corner space full with flowers and a small blueberry tree on the table having bared fruits. One that took her attention was the tall leaves and flowers of the stargazing lily.

Other than that everything seemed so modern...

"Yes they are real. I moved them here from my cottage home." (Azel) the demon lord comes out of a different room and Lucinda being the curious girl she whizzes past her going inside to where she was.

The demon lord quickly followed back and saw Lucinda admiring the books she had moved inside the library room. Her fingers brushed the tips of the cover and squealed in excitement. Who knew getting a house tour would make her forget her anger from before?

"This is a lot of books! Hey, do you have any book of spells that I can borrow or like-" (Lucinda) was completely taken by the amount of books that were inside but stopped when she noticed the same portrait of the demon lord's human master.

The girl who looks like Isabella.

"I see the charm you made is working well." (Azel) crosses her arms, looking over the painting in admiration and longing. However, it wasn't for long.

Remembering that she has to deal with her current bride and see if this could possibly be the same soul of her lady.

"Witch, do you have this... number that you spoke about?" she asks Lucinda who turns her head around and pouts.

"Duh~ I always do deliver after all but do you know how frustrating it was travelling for three hours back to back in a broom?! Do you know how my butt suffered?!" she takes her phone out from the skirt of her pocket before waving it around.

"Do you even have like a phone and a sim card?" (Lucinda)

Azel stares at her seriously, not believing that a simple witch was talking back at her, feeling her authority lessening but... she might need this number she speaks of. "Geoffrey. Hand me my... phone device."

Geoffrey who was standing by hands over the very shiny phone in a new case. Lucinda eyes the new expensive looking phone in envy- that’s the latest release that’s out of the market right now!

"Does this phone have this sim card this witch speaks of?" (Azel) was holding the phone a little too weird. Her one hand gripping it by its sides. While the other was just pointing her index finger is and began scrolling on the screen watching the app move to another window.

"Yes master, by having a sim card. One can input the number indicated and you can call them if you have data inside of it at the push of a button." (Geoffrey) explains to his master in careful detail having the cat-like curiosity light up within her.

"The new human technology is certainly fascinating..." The demon lord couldn't help but compliment the complex mechanics of the phone.

"I know right? All those human wars produced something useful for today. Anyways here I can give you Isabella's number it's this-" (Lucinda) leans over and shows the demon lord the sim card number even teaching her how to input a nickname.

"Ah right you also have to download this app called watsupapp. We use it more to keep in touch and we can even send cute emotes over.'' She instructs the demon lord who struggles to find where to get the app.

"You have to go to the playstore-" (Lucinda)

"Do we take a car to get there?" (Azel)

"No the playstore is on your phone- it's the one with a colorful triangle." (Lucinda) swipes her finger into the demon lord's phone and finds the playstore app for her.

"I see, thank you..." (Azel) really thankful for her teaching even if it came with a bit of screaming she held the phone in her hand and started to type on the phone like an old person struggling.

Lucinda eyes the demon lord who was holding it like a total boomer and felt like the need to point it out. "D-Don't hold it like that! Jeez at this point no one would think you're a teenager! Ungh now that I look at your more closely- your clothes screams old-"

She was wearing something older than her. So it's a little wrinkled but still in good condition.

"What's wrong with what I'm wearing right now?" she asks the witch who snorts out laughing and pulls out pictures out of linkterest to show her the newest human fashion she's been missing out on.

"So let me explain. What you're wearing right now is so totally retro and all they want know is like the chic clothing like oh!" (Lucinda) swipes around her phone until she finds a photo of a very handsome black suit topped with a gold necklace by the neck. "I bet this would look good on you!"

She almost shoves the phone onto Azel's face but thankfully she avoids it and groans in reply, "Geoffrey and I have already picked out some clothes. I don't need to-" (Azel)

"Omg... Let me see! I need to see! What kind of brand are they?!" (Lucinda) turns to look at the servant pleadingly. "Please~ I so wanna see them! I can dress up the demon lord if she ever has a date and stuff!"

Geoffrey laughed nervously not expecting the witch's energy to be this... high.

"What do you think, master?" the old man asks the demon lord who was having a crisis but in the end agreed because if she didn't she felt that the witch will soon push further on the request.

"Let her see the clothing we have picked. Then toss her out." (Azel) moves to the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee for her sudden headache.

"OoH~ goodie!" (Lucinda) claps excitedly, following the little servant around to the demon lord's room.

Azel immediately sighs, boiling a cup of water and grinding some coffee beans taking a sip feeling her soul being soothed and calm. Finally, she has the energy to-

"What the heck are these?! Where did you buy them?!" (Lucinda) not even five minutes later could be seen dragging the clothes that they bought the other week while they shopped for phones.

"What's wrong with them? Geoffrey has told me these clothes were popular with the human audience in his time surely it hasn't changed that much-" (Azel)

"Exactly- Have you seen anyone wear these kinds of dresses outside? Well nothing wrong with it but- I don't think these would suit you." (Lucinda) tells her honest opinion on the themed twenties dresses they bought.

It's lovely really!

But society is cruel- trends change and if you fall behind just a bit you'll be made fun of by the public!

Geoffrey's shoulders could be seen slumping down feeling like he did his lord a bad service. Lucinda saw the servant being rather dejected and immediately regretted her words.

"Um- have you actually tried any of these?" She grabs the dress by the neck and shows it to the demon lord. The dress was truly relatively small, "It's not your size."

The demon lord was not one to shop for clothes and let Geoffrey handle all her clothing affairs but oh dear, the people back at the mall must've given the wrong size when they tried it on.

Geoffrey felt double dejected and blamed himself for the trouble. "I apologize, master. It seems I have overlooked your clothes and what today's era of people are into." he sighs, disappointed at himself hearing the demon lord's silent reply.

"I'm sure it's a simple mistake- but um... these clothes need to go." (Lucinda) tries to lift up the sudden awkward mood, blaming herself for it silently but surprised when the demon lord shakes her head.

"Leave it in my room. My servant has bought it for me, surely it will have some use in the future. It is no trouble." (Azel) orders and immediately the old servant's mood becomes a little better.

Even if she tries her best to act all cold there's a soft spot under all that.

"I'll put it back then! Sorry to intrude!" (Lucinda) sprints off to put the clothes with the wrong sizes back and curses herself as to why she keeps saying things like that.

She just can't help but... be honest about everything at random times.

With a few light slaps on the cheek she goes back to where the two were waiting and the demon lord made a small proposal to the witch.

"Looks like I'll be needing some new clothes." She stands up from her seat taking out the platinum black card she received from the Hua Lin family.

"You seem to know what's best. So you'll be accompanying me, witch."

"You're asking me to go with you omg?"

"It's an order."

"Oh... well good enough!"

And they both ventured out into the mall while Lucinda taught her how to install an app called OOBer that lets them take reservations for a car driver.

"Where... is the playstore again?"

"It's the one with the colorful triangle- the one I showed you before- did you see it?"

"No... but I see a small ghost looking app?"

"Oh for the love of-"

It took a while but they got there safely.
