The time is 04:40 on Tuesday morning, it’s still dark out exacerbated by the dark streets of Midori Ward. One particular house in the Omagi district was silent, glancing into the top left window facing the street the blinds are slightly open revealing an Oni woman enjoying her slumber

The cobalt blue duvet was ruffled leaving half of her upper body exposed, both arms were stretched out allowing her to take up most of the bed. Apart from her unnaturally pale skin & crimson red horns, she looked like an ordinary human woman, blond hair was a complete mess with some strands getting stuck behind her equally grey lips

This was Haru, the 25-year-old Oni who owns this house. She sleeps seemingly well in a mess that looks to be caused by some earthquake in the night but the rest of her room was nearly spotless. Haru’s drowsy head was facing the window to her right as she breathed in & out calmly

--

The time is now 05:00 & the tranquil silence was broken by fierce ringing noise emanating from Haru’s left, atop her bedside table next to the old brick phone sat a small box underneath a grey mushroom-shaped lamp. The box had a flashing display showing the time but more annoyingly was the sound it made

| Ee Ee Ee Ee! | エエエエ

This aggravating sound pierced Haru’s ears causing her eyes to shoot open, every muscle in her face tensed up as her green eyes grew frustrated. “Another day huh!?” Haru thought as she careened her head to the bedside table

As her head turned so did her upper body taking her right arm with her, slamming her palm into the alarm hoping to end that racket

| Do! | ド

Haru banged her hand on the alarm but the noise continued, ringing in her ears. “Is it getting louder?” she asked herself

She lowers her hand slowly this time to feel where the alarm button is, her fingers caress the flat cold surface of the digital clock face & the plastic around it. It’s not long before one of Haru’s fingers taps a raised part of the clock, she can feel it’s of a different material from the rest of the clock itself

Her middle finger stretches to feel this different texture, “Is that it?” she thinks before applying pressure to that finger. The button goes in & the deadly siren disappears

| … |

The room was filled with silence once more, Haru was able to take in this peaceful atmosphere before realizing what that alarm was for. “I have to get up, don’t I?” she wrestled with the idea of getting out of bed while her arms applied pressure to the mattress pushing her body upwards

| Fuaa! | フアー

Haru gave one big yawn as she emerged from her bed, this was followed by her cupped right hand rubbing her lower face, lips & chin before caressing her chest. Her right hand held her orange nightdress while her left one griped the blue duvet cover but just like that Haru jumped out of bed, she stretched her arms & yawned once more. Despite being out of bed the weight of her tiredness was still felt on her shoulders & head, she could only counter this by forcing herself to maintain a proper posture, back straight & chest out however at a time this early it was a challenge for her

Haru: “Hah when did this nightdress get so heavy?”

Haru questioning the weight of her clothing, “no I’m just too weak in the morning” she concluded that this state she was in has made her sluggish. “That & that shooting pain I had last night”, she takes both her arms to her cheeks & proceeded to slap them gently while her eyes closed shut, at least to get her livelier. Haru then glanced at the large mirror opposite her room, this turned into a long stare with her yellow-green eyes taking in her morning appearance

Haru: “Oh”

She noticed her hair was all over the place, not a single strand was where it should be & even covering her horns mostly. With both hands, Haru shuffled her hair with her fingers, moving strands away from her forehead to expose her crimson horns. So smooth & glistening in the morning sunlight. To the left of Haru’s view, the mirror’s right there was an open door leading to a private bathroom. Containing a toilet, basin & bath, seeing their ashen white surfaces made Haru realize one thing

| Fuun fuun | フーンフーン

As Haru sniffed her hair & arm her eyes widened, a storm of motivation entered her body. “I need to clean up right away” she thought while peering in her drawers searching for new clean clothes to wear but as Haru goes ahead with searching for smart clothes to wear the sound of rattling hit her ears, it was coming from that bedside table. “What is it now?” she asks herself before walking towards that table top to find her smartphone was turned on. The display was showing a notification, Haru bent over to get a better look at the tiny text. “Saitama Municipal Omagi Elementary school, Hoshi’s new school!” Haru grabbed her phone with both hands, whatever news it could have certainly helped her out of that sleepy start. Haru’s eyes narrowed down to the written text

“Due to vandalism, the school will be closed for today”

Haru reads the Email, taking in the information formally given to her about the state of the school

..

Haru fully closes the door to her bedroom at 5:59 in the morning, starting from the top her crimson horns pocked up like spikes coming from her head, their bases were concealed by her bleached blond hair. Not like a few minutes ago Haru’s hair was clean, sparkling & neat, she would drive her fingers through her hair strands & feel the difference after a good morning shower, “this feels much better” she thought as a smile blessed her elegant face. Without further Ado, Haru clutched her workplace blazer with her left hand & her smartphone in her right before making her walk to the room next door. Haru would begin her morning routine with a knock on each of the other Monster Girl’s bedroom doors, left of Haru’s room & first victim of her dreaded morning knocks belonged to the not so house cat Neko, a white door still adorning pink cat stickers & kawaii Katakana text reading “Neko”

| Kon kon | コンコン

Haru: “Neko good morning”

Haru said with the energy of a fighter before entering the ring, her strong wrist knocked on the door loud enough for the others to hear. Haru carried that smile on her face as she passed the window at the end of the hallway, the early sun’s light was shining through illuminating the hallway & creating a silhouette of her on the floor. The black shadow outlined a young woman standing straight, the ends of her hair just touching her shoulders & the edges of her blazer were articulated on the wooden floorboards. Haru’s defining feature was more pronounced in this shadow, her pointy horns resembling Satan not helped by the shiny crimson colour. She kept walking not surprised that she got no response from Neko, “she’s more independent than I give her credit” Haru stated in her head as she dismissed the first door. Next, the mystery Loli that is Hoshi, facing Neko’s door on the other side of the hallway was the equally white door belonging to Hoshi with its stary themed decorations

| Kon kon | コンコン

Haru: “Good morning Hoshi”

Like clockwork Haru would knock on another door & call the name of its owner, greeting their day with a “good morning”, she was quieter when greeting Hoshi though. “Knowing her vast selection of abilities super hearing isn’t beyond possibility at this point” Haru reasoned in her head as she moved to the next door, their resident Parakeet Shika. Her door lacked any similar stickers found on the previous two, only green feathers taped on surrounding a sign saying “Shika” in Hiragana. Haru would turn her head left to get a better look at Shika’s door, specifically the decorations. “Has she added more feathers?” Haru asked herself as her widened yellow-green eyes gazed at the new additions to the door, shacking her head both ways Haru quickly snapped out of her trans & prepared her hand to knock…

| Gacha! | ガチャ

Her door loudly opened creating a breeze that moved Haru’s hair slightly, this was not expected. Haru’s eyes widened again but this time her mouth dropped & brows raised, the cool look on her face wasn’t there anymore as Haru lost control of the situation

Shika: “Good morning! Haru-san”

Shika was the one to greet Haru first, she spoke with her screechy voice. In contrast to Haru standing there in her smart work clothes, Shika wore a loose-fitting t-shirt & tracksuit shorts exposing her talon feet as opposed to Haru’s clean & tidy hair Shika’s was messy similar to the Oni homeowner’s as she woke up. One thing that separated Shika in the morning was that when she was awake, she was lively

Shika: “Your hair smells nice”

She said while taking a towel under her wing, Shika starts to walk forward than past Haru’s right. Making her way to the bathroom to begin her morning routine, Haru was left puzzled by Shika’s early bird attitude, to the point where she just stood there like a rock staring into the Parakeet’s room. She could see a room covered with blue & green posters cloaking the dove-grey-coloured walls & ceiling. The floor under the ceiling was riddled with green feathers, but not just the floor. The olive bed cover, the navy-blue bean bag chair to the right & even feathers stuck to the row of bars to the left. At the center of the room was an open window letting the light shine into the field of fluff & the air flowing in causing several feathers to dance off the floor, Haru could look slightly left to see Shika’s flat screen TV in the corner of the room or face down to see a couple of feathers sliding towards her slippers. With her right foot Haru kicks them away before feeling a tiny gust of wind reach her pale cheeks, this chilly breeze caused her to furrow her brows & tighten her lips. “She needs to keep that window closed” Haru thinks as she closes the door so the other girls don’t freeze

After pushing Shika’s door shut Haru notices a green feather dancing on the floor, her eyes track its movement through the air making summersaults & dragging itself across the floorboards. Haru raises an eyebrow at the sight of this single feather, “it’s just one feather so no problem” she thinks while walking toward it. With her finger & thumb Haru picks up this feather & proceeds to look at it for a short moment, “they look pretty when up close”. The Oni woman takes the feather in her cupped hand before making her way to the stairs, the small emerald ball of fluff sat in her smooth hands & Haru can feel it resting on her palm. She approaches the top of the stairs, she looks down to the floor noticing the cat wasn’t sleeping there. “If Neko isn’t there then she could be anywhere” Haru comments on the lack of cat girl in her line of sight as she takes the first step downstairs

--

| Goro goro | ゴロゴロ

A faint rumbling sound was heard by Haru & Shika’s eardrums as they entered the dining room, it was a soft buzzing noise that evoked relaxation & a feeling of contentedness

| Goro goro | ゴロゴロ

Only Haru & Shika were present in the dining room where they could hear this noise, the Oni & Parakeet stood there facing of the dining table. With Haru in between it & the entrance to the kitchen, she expressed her feeling of dread while staring at what was on the table while Shika on the side of the table to Haru’s left looked puzzled

Shika: “Um Haru-sa…”

Haru: “Shhh”

The Parakeet was quickly interrupted by Haru, she raised her left arm signaling Shika to remain silent

| Goro goro | ゴロゴロ

The two appeared to be fixated on the table, specifically something. Resting on the tabletop was an object which shouldn’t be there, someone was sleeping on the table

| Gugu | ググ

Suddenly a different sound appeared, “is she snoring” Haru thought while tilting her head to the left

| Gugu | ググ

On top of the table, where all four Monster Girls would typically eat was one of the residents that did not respond to Haru’s wake-up call. The one Haru didn’t see in the hallway earlier

| Goro goro | ゴロゴロ

The bright young girl resting on the table stretched her limbs, all five of them to gain extra comfort during her slumber. Her tail rose slightly, waved in the air before descending back to the table

| Gugu | ググ

The not-so-house cat was sleeping belly up on the dining table with her arms & legs stretched out on each side whilst her tail sat comfortably between her legs

This Nekomimi wearing her signature home attire, light blue pajamas & thin white socks going up to her ankles

| Fuaa | フアー

Neko let out a somewhat silent yawn revealing her pointy teeth, sharp fangs & the needle-like surface of her pink tongue, her eyes her shut but she faced Shika who witnessed this yawn up close & saw the interior of her gob, seeing those razor-sharp teeth almost directed at her caused the Parakeet to take one step back & her lips to quiver. The cat’s mouth opens wide then closes before she turns her head to the other direction along with her left arm & leg, Haru notices this action so walks to the right side of the table. Haru then bends her knees & holds the top of one of the chairs, she does this while looking at Neko who remains asleep. The Oni watches over her like a pet’s owner or perhaps a mother which is strange given their 3year age difference, she focuses on Neko’s chest moving up & down as she breathes then on her eyes which are completely shut, Haru begins to lessen her gaze on the cat who looked so unguarded & peaceful. “Why is she so cute sometimes” Haru thought as she straightened her back

The left hand of the catgirl traced upwards to her pink hair, while sleeping Neko unconsciously caressed a bit of her hair out of the way of her cheek exposing the left side of her face. Rays of sunlight from the window began shining on Neko’s smooth cheek & highlighted her beauty as they touched her nose & cherry-red lips. The light also reached past her face to an area of her head mostly covered by her pink hair, Haru took a momentary glace at it. “It’s still weird for me, to see that she doesn’t have human ears” in her mind Haru was commenting on Neko’s lack of ears on each side of her head but Haru took a quick look at Neko’s cat ears as they twitched individually. Shika on the other side watched as Neko’s tail curled around her folded legs the way a real feline does when sleeping, she took one of her sharp talons up to her mouth & used it to pick in between her teeth. she picked as Haru began walking towards the kitchen. What felt like an instant to Shika the Oni turned to face the Parakeet, Haru started walking. “Oh no she’s coming this way!” Shika screeched in her head as Haru got closer so she lowered her arm

Haru: *whispers* “You can start making your breakfast quietly while I move Neko to the other room”

Haru used a soft voice to communicate with Shika, this was not to wake Neko up abruptly. The Parakeet paused for a moment before turning right towards the kitchen & responding in a hushed tone

Shika: “Uhm ok”

This response reached Haru, she smiled at Shika before moving back to Neko. The Oni homeowner went to carry Neko while Shika gradually stepped towards the kitchen with her right hand caressing her cheek in thought, “I wasn’t loud this morning, was I?” she pondered with a frown on her face as she entered the kitchen. Shika stared into the kitchen, its grey-blue walls covered by light amber-coloured cupboard doors. As she entered Shika passed the refrigerator to her right, she progressed into the center of the kitchen aimlessly. The frown on her face carried itself this far, Shika still pondered not about her previous interaction with Haru but over something else

Shika: “Tsk”

She made a muted momentary sound of frustration, “How can that woman expect me to fit into her style of living?” she questioned in her mind. She twitched her right shoulder & turned her head in that direction to spot the refrigerator , Shika twisted her whole body before marching to the refrigerator, stomping as she moved to make small bursts of sound. These stomps dislodged a tiny black feather from one of her wings, it danced through the air like a ballerina before resting on the kitchen tiles. Grabbing the refrigerator & using her strength to pull it open caused another feather to release itself from one of Shika’s wings, even the act of opening the refrigerator door made a little sound that could be heard from the other room but Shika didn’t seem to care. “I’m not bothered by what Haru says, she knows I am a fowl who demands freedom” Shika proceeded to justify her defiant actions against the Oni homeowner. “& this small house? How could you keep a bird in these small spaces?”, it was safe to say that Shika was bitter towards Haru at this moment but was there a reason for it at this moment? “Like hell, if I know, being in this cramped house is enough to make anyone crazy

Shika made her way to the freezer just under the refrigerator, an amber-coloured wardrobe door smaller in size was the freezer that housed Shika’s frozen mice. She pulled out one of the plastic drawers & reach for her breakfast, inside was a pile of plastic bags containing frozen mice in a variety of flavours, Onion & garlic being the most common. “I can’t stand eating the same meal every day, if I was outside on my own I could grab any kind of treat I want”, Shika continued to create further justifications as to why she was offended this morning all while getting a plate, putting her readymade meal onto it & shoving it in the microwave. “I hope the school will provide something tastier!

| Bee! | ベー

The microwave buzzed as it radiated Shika’s meal, she pressed her face against it & watched her mouse spin. Meanwhile, in the other room Haru was preparing to carry Neko off the table, Haru gently began to grab Neko’s legs with her right arm, she hooked her arm around those long soft legs & proceeded to lift them. She did the same with her left arm holding Neko’s upper body & more importantly her head, Haru lifted Neko off the table while she remained asleep. The Oni fully held Neko in her arms, Haru used her exceptional strength to carry the cat like she were a princess from a fairy tale. With Neko sleeping calmly in Haru’s arms, softly breathing away her head resting on Haru’s left breast as Neko slowly inhales & exhales Haru stood there staring at her youthful face, smiling as she did it. “The table may be comfortable for you but we need it to eat” Haru thought as she began her trek to the living room

She walks from into the kitchen, avoiding Shika who concealed her dirty looks by facing the microwave before heading into the hallway. Passing the stairway & shoe cabinet, Haru only needed to turn right to enter the living room which differs from the other rooms. The living room in the house of Monsters has unique features such as traditional Tatami floorboards coloured Lime green with a Kotatsu at the right side of the room covered in a thick orange blanket Haru appreciated with a gentle smile

The Kotatsu table was surrounded by pillows of many colours sitting on the Tatami floor. Haru intended to place Neko on these pillows, “those should be comfortable but I’ve seen her sleep on wooden floors” she thought stepping into the room & taking Neko to her destination. Haru proceeded to gradually rest Neko on the pillows, starting with her long legs now touching the floor. She then placed Neko’s torso down, using her right hand to push away Neko’s waving cat tail

The Oni finally had her arms free, she placed both hands on her hips as she stared at the sleeping Catgirl. Neko’s back was against the Kotatsu blanket & she was almost curled up with her legs bent, arms bent as well with her hands in front of her youthful face. Haru gave a gentle smile to her feline companion, this was before Haru’s yellow-green eyes noticed an accumulation of thin pink hairs on the floor surrounding Neko’s tail. Her eyebrows rose, looking down at her dark blazer Haru clocked onto a similar display on her clothes, pink hairs were lightly concentrated around her belly region. Seeing this Haru’s head shot up & her eyes looked forward in a blank stare with her lips pressed, “why!?” she questions in her head as her brain sighed. After this inconvenient development Haru took her to leave, quickly turning towards the door & exiting the living room. Neko remained purring away on the pillows as her ears twitched, after that development Haru made her way back to the kitchen, stepping in with her fluffy slippers. She came into an empty kitchen

--

| Goro goro | ゴロゴロ

The cat sleeping was still sleeping in the living room unaware of whatever could be happening in the other room. Neko had perhaps tossed & turned since she was placed in this room, now she was sleeping belly up with both legs spread out like a starfish & resembling the sleeping posture she had when found on the dinner table

| Fua! |

Neko started to yawn, she cupped her right hand over her yawning mouth & covering her light pink tongue. She shut her eyes even more while making muffled mouth sounds

Neko: *muffled* “No…don’t”

She mumbled in her sleep as her head began turning

Neko: *muffled* “Don’t…don’t put it in there”

Her slumber mumbles continued & got louder. Neko’s body started tossing more frequently as the distress of her mind became greater

Neko: “No…please don’t put it in”

Her legs were closing in as her body regressed into a ball position, her cat ears went down & her tail curled around her body

Neko: “Please don’t…that game is not worth it”

Neko’s muted voice got louder, enough to be heard outside of that room. Her body began tossing more so, both legs sprang out & swiftly straightened themselves. Neko’s right leg sprang out then slammed itself into the leg of the Kotatsu

| Bon! | ボン

Her lower shin hit the hard wooden leg of the Kotatsu table

Neko: “Nyaaaa!”

Eyes shot open, ears sprung up, tail hairs went up making it resemble a puffy ball, limbs straightened even more at that sudden shock ton her leg. Neko’s torso bent up as she gave a cat-like screech, Neko grabbed her injured leg & pulled it closer while making whaling noises at the pain. “It hurts! It hurts!” Neko screams in her head while face muscles compress & she begins to breathe heavily

A moment passes before Neko’s breathing starts to subside & she relaxes, the cat takes this time to open her pink eyes wider to scan the room she’s in

Neko: “This is not the arcade”

She says out loud as her head turns side to side, ears following suit taking in her new environment

Neko: “Where am I”

Neko is ignorant of her location as her senses take in her surroundings, she notices some familiar objects. Short stand with candles, TV & two windows covered by light green curtains. Neko also recognized the colour of the room’s walls, “plain amber. Light plain amber” she thought before reaching her conclusion. I’m in the living room!”

Neko: “How did I get in the living room?”

--

| Saa saa | サーサー

A moderate breeze propels clouds over Saitama, the large grey puffs of the steam block out the sun & blanket themselves over the drab of the modern city. Amongst the dark emerald-flushed trees are two individuals hiking through the thick ankle-high grass, the sound of soggy accompanies their every step as they venture further from civilization & into the wild. Where one can escape the chaos of the city

During this murky afternoon, a young woman wearing a cinereal grey hoodie & navy-blue jeans steps through the thick grass in her dark walking boots. Her hood raised up covering her platinum blonde hair, her back straight as she paced forward with ease taking in the clean air with each breath & getting whiffs of this field’s damp earthy scent. Her eyes trace each sensation to its destination, the sounds of grass contacting her shins, the raw odour of wood & mud, dimmed sunlight piercing from the clouds with the mossy green colours of the fauna. “it’s like stepping into a world free of mankind” she thought momentarily as she stepped forward ever so slightly while experiencing all these sensations at the same time

Haru: “…”

The Oni homeowner effortlessly makes her way to a dark green bush before turning 180 degrees to catch a glimpse of the person following her roughly a whole train cart length away, her light green eyes wide as she gazed at her traveling companion with bliss & a slight feeling of doubt as her bottom lip gently quivers. Within the tall thick grass, a highschool age girl kicks & stomps through the foliage with her bright yellow Harpy talons. Her face & hair as well as her elegant feathers were covered from Haru’s gaze by a berry blue robe she wears loosely, whenever a gust of wind advances on them from the East the robe flaps like a flag momentarily exposing the Harpy’s feathers. For a brief two seconds, Haru sees this bird’s natural fleece dance as the air flows displaying a beautiful set of green & yellow. The longer feathers move like tassels reflecting the green of nature, Haru stared at her resident Parakeet with increasing dread every time the wind attempts to snatch her robe away, her eyes widen & arms tense up like marble. “That robe is clearly too big for her & she hardly tied the strings up” Haru fixates on the looseness of the robe & lets a tidal wave of apprehension fill her mind

Shika: “It’s too late to change your mind! Haru-san”

She grabs the cloak with her sharp talons as she yells at Haru who makes her discomfort known to her with those menacing green eyes, even in Human form Haru has the glare of a demon

Haru: “Uun, I’m not thinking about turning back. I just wish you would tighten that cloak I got you”

Haru shook her head letting her blonde hair wave with the wind, the feeling of displeasure & her quivering lips subsiding as she began seeing Shika in a new light. The light of the sun precisely, a large blade of light pierces through the thick clouds like a pincer allowing the lush green of her hair & feathers to glow like the grass she stands on. Haru peers on taking in the sight of a creature in an environment comfortable to her, where she can be restricted by walls no more. Nevertheless, Haru straightens her back before promptly examining her surroundings. She scans the horizon & looks in both directions for any sign of Human life but on this misty day she can’t see any, “I really picked the best day to take her flying but with that ray of sunlight it won’t last like this” she thought with a determined look aimed at Shika

Haru: “So Shika, are you ready to fly?”

A confident smile accompanies her question about her resident Parakeet

Shika: “Ehhh I thought you’d never ask”

She responded with her signature grin & almost sarcastic tone of voice, contrasting that is a slight sparkle in her eyes

Shika: “I’m so happy we’re doing this…”

Using her talons to brush the hair off her forehead Shika discloses her appreciation to Haru with a sincere comment however this was swiftly interrupted by a heavy gust of wind bringing her green hair back to her forehead & even concealing her eyes

At a distance, Haru could only see a genuine smile from Shika directed at her become distorted the feelings of this bird started shifting in the opposite direction. Shika’s signature grin was replaced by a slight frown which isn’t uncharacteristic of her sometimes, to this minor inconvenience she grabbed the left side of the loose-fitting cloak being worn around her shoulders with the claws of her right wing & aggressively yanked it clean off exposing her true form in addition to the outfit she wears underneath. A white tank top exposing her wings & a pair of lapis blue shorts giving way for the feathers on her legs, the wide cotton that made up the cloak flapped through the air with ease as Shika extended her wing to propel it away, this action combined with the unusually fast winds caused this large thin sheet of wide cotton to fly a few meters off the ground before making a soft landing in a blanket of grass. Haru removed from this activity watches on with a feeling of disappointment, her jaw dropping momentarily at the sight of the blue cloak falling to the ground like a feather. “She’s not getting any more presents from me” she remarks as her shoulders dip, taking several steps towards Shika, green eyes fixated on the cloak briefly before turning to the bird who threw it. Whispering Aeolian sounds reach Haru’s ears before a breeze knocks her hair back as well as causes her eyelids to shut, this breeze brought with it a cool sensation on her cheeks & lips. As Haru opens her eyes she gets confronted by a large piece of blue fabric, as her eyes adjust it becomes clear. “The cloak?” she ponders before widening her view to see who delivered it to her, she sees three cloud-grey claws protruding from a rough yellow hand

Shika: “We can’t dirty this now can we?”

Haru turns to see Shika smiling once more with her green hair coiling as the wind passes, she jerks her wing slightly prompting the Oni to take it. She raises her right arm to grab the cloak, she clutches it firmly & feels the weight of Shika’s talon dissipate as the Harpy lets go

Haru: “Umm thank you”

She says with an embarrassed expression while looking downwards, as the wind continues Shika stretches both wings out & thrashes the space around her letting the air flap her feathers like crazy, she accompanies this motion with several jumps of excitement & joyous screeches

Shika: “Yah!”

She celebrates her freedom with an energetic dance as the wind carries her upwards

Shika: “It’s sooo cold today!!”

She exclaims while moving her limbs like a crazy person

Haru: “So let us make this flight a quick one”

Haru grips the cloak tightly while smirking as she speaks to Shika, both of their faces light up in laughter at Haru’s suggestion

Shika: “Nice try Haru-san”

She answers before flapping her wings even harder, Shika’s legs lift off & in no time at all she is airborne. Haru’s head follows this bird as she takes off like a helicopter, tilting upwards along with her lifting spirits

Shika: “Hahahaha”

Haru’s resident Parakeet gives a gleeful chuckle as she soars even higher, dancing in the sky as she picks up speed. On the ground, the flightless Oni in Human form watches on with a sigh of relief at the sight of Shika being her true self & expressing who she can be without the restrictions of hiding in the Human world. She closes her mouth to give a small grin with eyes in awe of the bird that lives with her speeding through the air like a racing plane, “I bet this is how bird watchers feel” she thinks to herself as she admires Shika’s dazzling green & yellow feathers. The bird keeps rising & rising further into the clouds, her heart rate picks up as her veins overflow with joy. Shika reaches the clouds which proceed to swallow her entire body, a damp cold feeling touches her skin

Shika: “Kyaaaa!”

She lets out an exhilarating screech at the pain which causes her to keep flapping until she can see the sun, the freezing steam blanket her face causing her eyes to shut & mouth to hold air in. But seconds later Shika is met with bliss when she pierces through the clouds, her eyes haltingly open, a huge beam of light floods her view & the cold sensation leaves her body, her pupils adjust to a new scenery that welcomes Shika once more. The large golden ball up in the blue-sky smiles down at this flying object that’s not fully a bird but isn’t all Human after all, seeing this Shika smiles back & lefts out her gratitude

Shika: “Thank you for always brightening our World!!”

She cheers loudly

Shika: “I’ll send my regards to Hoshi-sama!”
