I write the chapters on my tablet with a keyboard, then save them on cloud storage and paste them here. Except this time for some reason I couldn't enter my cloud storage. So I had to find my Bluetooth for my PC and send the file through that. I hope you like the chapter, because I find it somewhat lacking.

I was running through a dark corridor and behind me chasing me were my boss from work, my roommates, my lecturers from college and everyone was yelling at me for disappearing and how disappointed they were with me. I turn around to explain myself, but nothing comes out of my mouth. I try to force the words out and suddenly wake up, not sure if this counts as a nightmare or just a regular dream. At least I can be sure my thoughts from last night carried over to my dreams and that is why I had this dream.

Looking through the window, it is still dark outside and a glance at the time piece shows 5 o’clock in the morning. The funny thing is I don’t feel tired like 5 hours of sleep should make me feel. More like 7 hours of sleep should feel like. Definitely have to find out the optimal sleep hours with my improved physique. No point in wasting my time sleeping extra hours I can spend training or making my way home.

As I already am awake, I dress up and go to the bathroom to wash up. Looking in the mirror I check my eyes, skin, tongue and teeth and everything, but the last one looks better than ever. Moving my tongue over my teeth, there is place starting to develop, but it isn’t a surprise, having not brushed them for more than a week. Looks like Dian Keto only heals and doesn’t clean the body and mouth.

“Definitely have to visit a store and see what hygiene products they sell. With some luck, they have toothbrushes or some equivalent. Otherwise I will have to improvise something or wait until I learn cleaning spells or something.” Leaving that concern aside, I wash my face and hands, take the play mat out and summon the 2 Last Will and one Remedy, then place them in my backpack and make my way downstairs to see if I can have breakfast this early in the morning.

As it turns out, breakfast starts at 7 o’clock, since the proprietress has to go shopping in the market and visit the bakery for the day, before they start cooking. And mentioning the market, I should visit it before breakfast and buy some ingredients to experiment with, so I exit the inn ad start walking towards the place.

The streets are a little more crowded than I would have expected at this time, but as the sun is starting to rise, maybe it isn’t so strange for this world. Some people look like what fantasy adventurers should and are probably headed to te Guild to receive quests. Other look like professionals in other fields like smiting and pharmacy with their lather aprons and long coats, probably going to work in an atelier or something. And then there are the people heading to the gate with farming tools. The strange thing is seeing a few children also up and walking the streets. Maybe they are going to school? How well are people educated in this world or just the town anyways?

Dismissing the last thought, I turn down a street and find myself at he entrance of a big market street. There are stalls as far as the eyes can see and mine have improved since coming here, so it is indeed far. Nice smells waft through the air and attract my attention to different cooked meats on sewers, pots of soups and stews and other pleasant looking and delicious smelling foods. I am tempted to buy a few of them here and there, but decide to resist the temptation and continue with my mission.

I buy a cloth bag for my purchases and start buying products from the list I made and other things that could lead to allergic reaction in my previous world like different types of nuts, berries, fruits and milk products. I find fish in one stall, but no other water creatures like crustaceans, mollusk or other allergy inducing seafood. Maybe the sea is too far and transportation isn’t up to par here? Or maybe it is too expensive an only wealthy people can afford to order transportation for such goods.

Looking at the time, I make my way back to the inn to have breakfast. I order something I had before, not wanting to risk another allergic reaction this early in the morning and when it arrives I test the dish anyways. Since I decided to be a little more paranoid, I press the food to my lips and then withdraw it. I wait a minute to see if there is any reaction like numbness and when there is nothing I take a small bite and chew a few times. Again there is no adverse reaction, so I start eating a little more relaxed the rest of the food.

After finishing my breakfast I make my way out of the inn and towards the address for my supervisor. I have a few questions of how people of this world train their body, other than the stats from leveling and skills. And also what and from who I should learn to become a proper Rogue. Ah, I can feel a shiver run down my spine just thinking about being one. With Magic and the skills from the class, there is probably nothing in my world I wouldn’t be able to steal. Or is it nothing I wouldn’t be unable to steal? Nothing would be safe from my stealing clutches.

I arrive at the address and knock on the door of the house. After I wait a couple of minutes the door opens and a child stands in the door frame. At first I want to ask where their parents are, assuming one is the supervisor, but immediately stop. The eyes are too intelligent and old to belong to a child and that leads me to examine the rest of the features on the person in front of me. The ears are a little more pointy than a human or a Stonekin, but not as long as what a Sidhe is described as. Their skin is smooth and unblemished, but not as smooth as a child’s should be. The proportions of the face lean a little more towards adult than a child and when I examine the body, I am sure this is not an actual child. They have the proportions of a child, but the length of the limbs and more importantly the musculature are that of an adults.

I stare a little too much and wonder, have I missed reading something while I was in the library? I thought there were only the 3 races, Humans, Stonekin and Sidhe, but here is something unknown. Are others I thought children also the same as the one in front of me? What other sentient races have I skipped reading about?

“You going to continue staring or will you be introducing yourself?” The voice interrupts my musings and I return my attention to the female of unknown race in front of me. It is rude to be staring and even more so not introducing myself after bothering them this early in the morning.

“Ahem, sorry about that. I am Jessica Thomas, a newly registered adventurer and I was given this address for my adventuring supervisor.” The short woman nods at my introduction and invites m inside her house. I enter and observe my surroundings, but everything looks like a typical house should. There is a coat rack close to the door and shoe rack beside it. I contemplate taking off my boots and one look at the feet of my host convinces me it would be polite, so I take them off and place them on the shoe rack, then take a pair of slipper roughly my size and wear them. My host leads me to a couch in what I assume is a living room and we both sit facing each other with a beautiful glass table between us.

“Yesterday I received a letter informing me you were added to my list of adventurers under my supervision, but I didn’t expect you to visit me so soon. You must have some questions for, so ask them and I will answer what I can.” I still couldn’t get past how much like a child she looked, so I may have been staring again, but after hearing her speak I composed myself and started.

“I was recommended Spellcaster and Rogue occupation with the Summoner one I already have, but due to circumstances I can’t change one of the occupations I already have. So my first question is which one should I take as an occupation or more likely, which one can work with just having the skills?” My supervisor didn’t think for long on the problem before she answered my question.

“To be perfectly honest, both occupations could work with just skills, but in my opinion you should get Rogue as an occupation. You already have Summoner, which counts as a Spellcaster occupation and gives you bonuses to your Magic, so what you need are the bonuses from a physical occupation instead of doubling more on your Magic ones. The choice is up to you, but that is my recommendation.” I observed her eyes and facial features and don’t see her lie or change expression at all, but I can’t exactly be called an expert in reading facial ques. Still I decide to take her advice and pursue Rogue as an occupation and rely on my future skills for Spellcasting.

We continued chatting and soon I was told the usual gear someone with my occupations usually had or strive to obtain. Spellcasters relied on a staff as a focus for their Magic, but there was specialized equipment for Magic users that required their hands be free to do other things and still have a focus tool. They relied on gloves or gauntlets made to be conductive to Magic and with embedded Magic stones or crystals to focus and convert the Magic in their element. And when they had the money, almost any adventurer, no matter their occupation, bought a mithril chain mail. Depending on the price, it could look like fishnets or finely made stockings, just for the body and not just the legs. According to Katherine, she introduced herself at some point, the mithril chain mail was very good at stopping slashing attacks, moderately successful at stopping stabbing and totally ineffectual at dealing with blunt force damage. Now enchanted mithril was entirely different, but so was its price.

Another interesting piece of equipment she told me about are Gravity Striders. It is a popular Epic rank equipment for Rogue type occupations that made gravity of 1G to 2G weight at you. It was completely useless on solid ground, but for the nimble Rogues, Thieves and other such occupations, it allowed the to walk on walls and ceilings. If they stayed with their feet up, it even made them able to float weightlessly. Definitely something I would strive to acquire in the future.

“What about someone with a flying mount? Is there some specialized equipment they should have?” I thought I was prepared for my first flight and was only waiting on my FOFID, but it was better to ask than regret not knowing something when tragedy struck.

“Hmm, I have heard that the wind up there is pretty strong, so complete coverage of every part of the body is recommended. Gloves, goggles, leather clothes. Some flyers have special harness made to prevent falling from their mounts, but also always wear an equipment with the Feather fall enchantment. Other than that hmm… I think there was something about the wind preventing verbal communication with the mount, but I can’t be sure.” Hearing her speak on the topic, I almost widened my eyes to inappropriate size. How could I forget about communication? Sure the Feather fall enchantment was also something I neglected to check on, but as long as I didn’t fall it would not be needed. But I have seen Mythbusters jump off an airplane and try to talk to each other while free falling and the results were complete fail in communication. I may be able to command my mount to fly up, but without some kind of wind barrier or telepathy skill, there was no way to verbally steer or command it to land, which was big problem I hadn’t considered.

After a few more questions, mostly about gear for Rogues, Katherine directs me to a seasoned trainer for the occupation that runs a little shop in town and trains the occasional adventurer on the side, so I leave her home to head there. The streets are still a little crowded, even though it is approaching late morning, but I have no idea if that is Norma or not. At least there have been no attempts on my pouch so far today.

When I arrive at the place shown to me on the map, I find myself standing in front of a general goods store, but not the same as the one I have visited previously. I wonder, how many general goods stores are in this town? I enter the shop and almost immediately spot who I am looking for. Katherine’s description is spot on, a human male with mangy black hair, scar below his left eye and a constant scowl on his face. Seeing as there are no clients at the moment, I approach the man and introduce myself.

“Hello, I am Jessica, a new adventurer and I was send by Katherine, my supervisor, to learn the occupation of Rogue from you. Nice to meet you.” The man looks me from head to toe, his scowl deepens, then he turns towards a door in the back and beacons me to follow him with a hand. I do just that and find myself in a pretty big training room with all kinds of equipment.

“I am going to assess our abilities today and expect you here every day at 6 o’clock. Every lesson will cost you 10 silver and I expect to be notified the day before if you are going to not show up for whatever reason or I will stop teaching you. Now, show me why they have send you to me.”

The rest of the morning I spend demonstrating my skills to my grumpy new trainer. I showed him my throwing skills both with hand and sling, how fast I can run, how nimble I was and how badly I could fight. The entire time the scowl didn’t leave his face, but there were changes in his eyes and how they looked at me, so he probably wasn’t as disappointed as he could be.

“Starting now, whenever you are not using your hands for anything I want you to roll a coin between your fingers. On both hands. You are pathetically weak, so I want you to spend your afternoons at the guild training grounds building some muscles. They have skill blocking equipment you can borrow, so start training with calisthenics in the beginning. If you are going the Rogue path, there is no sense in bulking up. You need to be lean and nimble for this. NOW GET OUT!” His loud exclamation at the end spooked me like a jump scare, but I managed not to jump from fright. As he requested I left the building and made my way back to the inn to have lunch, before making my way to the guild to start training my body.

Should I have a time skip of several days after I finish writhing about her day? Maybe I will post a poll next chapter.
