It was not that late, but it was late for Rein. He was already yawning and the basketball game has not even begun yet. Today my old elementary school would be playing off against their rivals, which caused a lot of people to show. Even if it was just little children playing.

I looked around the red and white stands watching as people continued to trickle in. The entire gymnasium was new, having gone through a remodel of what it used to be. I was glad to see the change, but as I watched one man walk toward the boys locker room I couldn't help but smile.

"Who are you looking at?"

Scarlett asked me as she held our son in her lap.

"Someone I used to know." I began. "It is strange how a lot of things have changed, but there are still a few that stay the same."

She looked confused when I said that and I could not blame her.

Before I traveled back in time, the man I saw was once my coach in this same elementary school. With the changes to the neighborhood and the funds the school had, I expected an alternate path. Which the school was taking, but he was still coaching basketball. I could still remember him blowing that whistle constantly telling us to hustle and push through. Making us sit on the wall for what felt like hours but gave us a lot of motivation.

He was someone I still looked up to even as an adult and remembered a lot of what he taught us. As his lessons applied to the real world as well.

Although he would not remember me, I wondered if I should speak to him. To see how he was doing, and if his life was similar to before I returned.

I dismissed the thought however as a woman approached me and my wife. She was older with short black hair and red lipstick that matched her red dress. I raised my eyebrow as I recognized her but that was in another time.

"Mr. Scott, a pleasure to meet you."

Her voice was smooth and she seemed very polite.

"Mrs. Scott, nice to make your acquaintance as well."

Scarlett smiled at her and nodded slightly. She looked a bit bothered though and I couldn't blame her, considering we were out for entertainment and to spend time with our child. It could be said to be our fault since we were not hiding our appearances. However, the majority of the people here attending the game greeted us a long time ago. The students enjoyed our presence, but they kept a distance after a while.

"I am Gretchen Whitmer and if I could have a moment of your time, I promise it won't take long."

I knew who she was before she even opened her mouth, but I did not want to get involved in whatever she had going on.

"Not now. If you want me to endorse you then i'm not interested, and if this is another matter then meet me after the game is over with."

Her smile faltered for a moment but she tried to keep her cool. Besides, this was not the first time I was in this kind of situation. Many politications here in the state wanted me to help their campgain, but in all honesty, I cared little for what occured. As long as I could continue developing my company and make games, I was content with that.

Gretchen left us be but didn't leave the gymnasium. Instead she sat a fair distance away from us in the stands and started chatting with a few other people.

"You know if you do get more involved in politics then you could have more lineacy with your companies."

Scarlett commented.

I nodded in agreement as she was right.

"Yeah, I know. When there is someone worth backing, then I might get involved, but even then i'm still not too sure. I'm fine with the way things are now, as long as I can continue creating games i'm fine with that."

"Are you sure that's all? With someone in the office whose ideals line up with your own, i'm sure that you both will benefit imensly. Take for instance this neighborhood, or city. You invested a lot so imagine that but on a larger scale, with someone else doing it for you. This is no Los Angles, but it could be the start of something great."

I was silent for a bit.

It was a terrible idea. Traffic was fine as it was, and the city wasn't too overly populated. Los Angles was a nightmare and I did not want to experience that again. Although the state might not become the new hub for actors or creators, it could definelty be a key location for those wanting to expand the field.

"No, I don't want that. But you did remind me of something important."

Scarlett looked confused.

"I want to invest in research for better renewable energy. We're consuming a lot as it is already, and in the near future, it will double."

"Didn't you already place some funds into Telsa? The idea of electric vehicles is nice, but they are a bit slow compared to normal cars."

"Yeah, but that is different. They will help pioneer the future of electric vehicles, but I'm thinking of finding a company that is interested in developing a better source of energy. We're already pretty screwed as it is, but it's something the future generations would have to worry about."

"You talking about Global Warming? I didn't think it was that big of a deal to affect us, but I don't see a way we could do anything about it."

I understood where she coming from as I figured a lot of people thought that way. I was one of them, knowing how much the climate changed. I still could recall those pandemics we had and was reminded of how far we were lacking in preparations for these events in the future.

We were so concerned with making billions no one cared for our environment. Sure, I was part of the problem, but I used the means I had at my disposal to lessen the impact.
