After announcing the matter, Darius left me alone again and I feel I have so many things to do and so much time so I go back to my to-do list.

I can only spend the time I have mostly sitting on the Divine Throne. Because the time it needs for the next thing to form is quite long but not as long as the Primordial Mist of Absolute Beginning.

Are you surprised by that name? Actually, that name refers to the mist that formed my world. My world is created by the transformation of that Primordial Mist, creating the first celestial bodies as the newborn world expands.

 

The Primordial Mist of Absolute Beginning however is the product that formed after breaking from a singularity. It takes about three eons of time for it to form. As for the measurement value of eon I mentioned, one eon is actually close to ten trillion years in my previous life. I also keep wondering about my previous life too now that I become an Overseer.

'Did the world I live in also like this world? That an Overseer also in charge of it?'

Of course, that thought can only be stored inside my head as the answer to that probably have to be discussed with the Head of the Angel.

 

Anyway, I keep close eyes on the development of my little world. Expanding space, checking the flow of time, the trajectories of every single thing inside the world as well as the idea to create more things.

That is how I mostly spend my time in this place where the Divine Throne resides. By the way, this place is called God's Sanctuary, the place that is in different space despite being located in the world I am in charge of. To understand, it looked like the place is inside the world but just in another space, different from the space my world is currently in.

 

After checking once again to make sure the development of my world is good, I fast-forwarded the time flow of the world once more. Though it really takes a lot of energy from the core of the world, it has to be done.

From the knowledge I obtain from being the Overseer, there is a method to move everything in the world I have assigned and that is to etch my will with a certain technique so that everything in the world can be considered the extension of myself.

So I do exactly that. I have to imprint fragments of my will, not only that but I have to collaborate with the core of the world to strongly imprint my will so that even if the things in my world change, they shall not easily disappear. Then I can sense the change after taking some time...how long exactly? I start to lose the sense of time from my so-called 'previous life' memories but as I become an Overseer, it does not matter much.

"Amazing, I know exactly everything inside my world. Where they move, what is going to happen in the future...isn't this predicting future? No, rather than that it is more of inevitability since I can see every possibility." I murmur softly. At least I can consider myself omniscient in my own world and that feeling is simply wonderful.

 

Since I use the power of time manipulation a lot, I start to understand the law of time. If you ever heard someone mention the unstoppable force or thing in the world, what is your first thought? I bet that it is actually something tangible but since I become an Overseer and delve into its profoundities, I know that the unstoppable force that not a single existence, not even the Head of the Angel Gabriel can stop is what humans called time.

Yes, I know some people are going to argue: But we can make time slow enough it is no different than the time-flow stop. Sorry to disappoint but ultimately, you still 'slow' the time flow, not stopping it completely. As for the power of stopping time or even time reversal that the fantasy stories often talked about? You know they are in fantasy genre for a reason, right?

Then here comes a question, what will happen if you try to stop time or reverse the flow of time. For now, I can only give you an answer based on the knowledge I acquire as well as my own understanding. The answer is that the moment they act like that, they will be crushed without mercy. Like I said, time is an unstoppable force.

"Who would have thought that most of the fantasy story is not even right in its fundamental? But I suppose it is also a good thing that people have such thought that transcend the concept their civilization have." I can only smile at that as the innate gift of humanity is actually innovation. Despite its abrupt and even 'denying' the knowledge and understanding of their current time, it is also the factor that led humanity to improve further.

 

"And then there is something I want to try but it looks like I have to postpone it." I sigh as a familiar presence appears in my sight.

"It's been a long time, Darius. What do you need from me?" I greet the first being I come into contact after I 'died' and stranded in Borderland.

"Master Hiroshi, I come here with the usual business." Darius politely says. The usual business is actually my progress of world creation and improvement. And let me tell you, this is only the fundamentals for real! Space and time manipulation is just the freaking fundamental for an Overseer so I learn and practice this as much as I can.

"Oh, the celestial body is already at the flourishing stages. There are various galaxies, star clusters, constellations, even some have formed their own little planet. It is just that it is really hard to improve further as I am aware of the next condition." I reply. From the knowledge I acquired, after the celestial bodies are created and flourished, it is time for me to have another living being, a sentient one at that.

My concern is that the moment I do this, I am going out of the No Disturb World list. I feel a headache because of this.

 

Darius looked at me and smiles softly. His expression is one that can soothe even kids and then he says, "I understand your concern. We can talk this together."

"Creating lifeform is not an easy matter, especially if you have to create it directly like this. I already think of every aspect a living being at least should have. But the special circumstances this time is that I have to create my first living being and sentient at that...I doubt I can pull this off easily." I complain to Darius as I can only do simple spatial and time manipulation.

"My first advice to you Master Hiroshi...before that, are you willing to listen to me?" Darius speaks politely and I feel like I am someone important to him.

 

The problem is I am not someone or some being with utmost importance. I don't even have experience in that regard so why would some being like Darius speak politely to me? Whatever the reason, I cannot respond harshly since I know clearly that I am far off from the treatment Darius gives me.

"Of course. I am inexperienced and don't know a lot of things, any help is appreciated." that is my answer.

"What can you think about living being? What determines as 'living'?" Darius starts his advice.

This makes me think for a bit. Then I come to a sudden realization, that I am too narrow-minded, that I am not 'innovative' enough like the people who try to express their thought about something that is out of the accumulated knowledge their society have but is not really harmful.

 

'Living being' is determined by some criteria, the issue is that these criteria are created by humans' minds from my previous life. While it is true, that is not the whole matter, the very truth of the world. This matter of me not knowing about this knowledge is partially my fault. I try to comprehend the law of space and time mostly and only gain elementary knowledge about the creation of things. I know how to make them exist but that is as far as my power combined with the core of the world go.

Beyond that is what I don't know. And what Darius says inspires me in a way. My thought after hearing Darius' advice is...can the thing that humans previously thought of as inanimate...actually be a kind of living being? If this is true...then is there an additional criterion for a living being, far than what humans know of?

Then suddenly the core of the world sends a warm current to my body...no, my existence itself. Darius who sees this actually falls into silence.

 

'Master Hiroshi...is truly being acknowledged by the core of this world.'

 

So many things, not just the warm current, are flowing to me. There are also new information and knowledge revolving around living being...that I finally understand. The very fundamental of things.

"Three states of living being...I don't know exactly the name of these states but for me, it is named as: Passive, Vegetative, and Active." I am amazed, this is my honest thought. And I am also growing a bit of arrogance and conceit that I only thought of objects as objects, even the core of the world but that inspiration is like a wake-up call to me.

Then I don't forget something else, "Thank you so much, Darius!"

"Truthfully Master Hiroshi, I am rather impressed by your feat. Consider this the opinion of someone if you will but the way you understand and willingness to consider a topic from multiple possibilities and viewpoint is the one I will not forget." Darius replies calmly.

 

Do I get a compliment? This is wrong. This kind of thinking is normal, well if you really want to think hard, far and wide enough that is. But feat? Don't joke with me, I am not that impressive!

"I cannot accept that!" I say but then I correct my expression and tone, "I mean, I am sorry but this compliment you give me is not suitable for someone like me. I am a newbie in this 'Overseer' thing and there are so many things to learn. That is why I am learning and apply the knowledge I learn to the new world I am responsible for."

Does Darius feel my sentiment? He does not pursue the matter anymore.

 

"If you want it like that, then I will not speak of the matter anymore. Now is the time I must resume my duty. See you later Master Hiroshi." and just like that, Darius says his goodbye. I am 'used' to it already so it does not matter much.

And now I realized, I have to create a lifeform at Active state to truly get my world out from No Disturb World list so there is still some time to think things through. But that time is evaporating fast if you used your knowledge of time.

Regarding the world I am in charge of, honestly I am starting to 'feel' it in depth during my investigation this time. Oh boy, it feels completely different from the previous time I do it.

Every single thing inside my world, either the Primordial Mist of Absolute Beginning, the newborn stars, constellations, galaxies, and countless clusters inside are calling the core of this world, calling me. Their calls are more simple but my 'will' that I previously latched into them make me able to feel their entire existence, their past, their every possible future and somehow their 'thought'.

That is the first difference since in previous time, I can only feel their existence faintly and barely see their past, present and future. But now, it makes me feel like I can see their information in detail and their existence is as good as completely exposed when I 'gaze' at them. If I wish, I can modify some of their 'record' and overwrite them completely.

 

And that is right, I can say for sure now that I treat them no different than a living being. Their kind is what I classify as Passive living being. They have their own language that I am sure that other living beings cannot make sense of them, most of them anyway. In a sense, they call for the well-being of this world, the future where the world will prosper and the future creation will enrich the world and develop it further.

"They also have expectations. I should at least meet their expectation in kind, right?" I murmur while thinking about the world that will soon clash with the others. Of that, it is definitive. Once my world is out from No Disturb World list, I have to face the other Overseer, someone just like me, to a battle.

"Of course, the previous Overseer is somewhat good since he can even make Active living being at the stage of human civilization. The management should be decent but still fall short."

Since the clash between Overseer is inevitable, I have to strengthen the foundation of my world first. The foundation of the world is actually simple: time, space, existence. Those are the three things for a world to work. Time and space, I already study it for good and I think it is decent. My concern lies in existence factor.

 

I almost neglect the elementary factor of existence before Darius' advice came in handy so I *am* definitely need to study it seriously now. First, I have to throw my previous preconceived notion of existence. It is a good reference but I am someone who has to manage things that surpass human understanding, therefore, I have to learn things with a broad and open mind.

I give my mind some preparation before I delve.

 

Existence, what defines it? What marks it? What symbolizes them? Just entering the elementary section and I am stunned to boot. Sure I can somehow create a new existence but I 'lack' understanding of the subject. The ninety-nine previous Overseer insight sure help but I have to do this with my own understanding because I am in charge of this world, not them anymore.

Just like a leader of an organization, he can take in advice from their predecessor but they will still color the organization with their own persona.

The good news is that my existence power increase as I use the power from the core of the world to create things and develop them. Sadly, this existence power only applies in my own world, the domain where I reign supreme. Also, existence power is tied strongly to my existence.

 

"My existence power growth rate is going faster? Previously its growth is not this much. Indeed, expanding the space of my world while creating things give me existence power at an exponential rate. But if this is the case, there should be also things that my existence power has to be spent...don't tell me, is it actually used whenever there is a battle among Overseer?" I have this thought and now realize why so many of my predecessors quickly advance their world to a certain level.

It also matches the record in the core of the world. After some encounters with other Overseers, they have to take time to replenish their existence power and there is a certain time until they are challenged again.

"Fight, rest and continue the fight. The battle between Overseers is truly systematic. Is it constructed by the angels?" I pondering about this but I *think* this systematic battle wants to achieve some purpose.

"Troublesome, troublesome indeed." I lament my situation once again.

In another world with a different Overseer.

Here, the newly born world is developing smoothly and the growth only exponentially increase further. In comparison, Hiroshi's world growth rate is rather slow if this world is used as a measurement.

A light suddenly appeared in this world God's Sanctuary. An angel came in and stood across the Divine Throne. Sitting on it was another person, another Overseer.

 

"Master Mirelin, your world is finally developed enough that there is a lifeform at a certain stage." the angel spoke politely toward the figure at the throne.

"Thanks to your contribution." the figure spoke with excitement in their speech. The figure then continued, "This world finally has something more than just Primordial Mist of Absolute Beginning and some celestial bodies. My existence power also growing fast."

"But then this world is out from No Disturb World list, which means I have to face my first Overseer battle." Mirelin spoke with determination then continued, "I wonder if I can pass this. Most new Overseers fail to pass their first battle after all."

Mirelin went silent for a while, the angel also did not speak. Only after Mirelin sort every consideration did the angel voice its purpose for coming.

 

"In their first battle, Overseers will be paired with the one with similar rank and situation. This means your opponent is most likely someone like you. So please be confident and do your best."

"But...I don't know if what I learn is sufficient. Truthfully, I don't want to lose and I also don't want to let go of this world." Mirelin replied.

"It should be fine." the angel said before something appeared in front of Mirelin. Mirelin stood up from the Divine Throne, the action that the angel realized that it happened due to nervousness. Then the angel spoke again, "Besides, your opponent is already set. It is also a new Overseer that Darius is in charge of."

 

Mirelin realized that the angel responsible for this world had something going on against another angel called Darius. But of course, a piece of certain information appeared in Mirelin's view, about her opponent.

'Hiroshi...from the record I receive, he is indeed the same as me. I really should believe in myself more!'

I suddenly receive a certain piece of information. It is actually related to my first upcoming battle and in it I find about my opponent.

'Let me see, Mirelin. Newly appointed Overseer, similar level of living being state. There should be a reason why we are *paired* for the first battle. Besides, this information that I receive also means that this is already set in stone.'
