Recap

That wasn’t the reason why Suijin was confused, though. U.A. as the #1 school had a lot of prestige, so minor actions from them heavily influenced what other institutions did.

Other schools would be able to learn why someone failed the entrance exam and decide if that person is a good fit for them.

So in addition to missing a year of Hero School, if you're marked and failed for cheating, then you're unofficially blacklisted from every ‘good’ university in Japan.

So Suijin’s bright eyes were justified since essentially every cheater here was staking their entire future on this test.

‘It doesn’t matter whether I really know what I’m writing, I'll figure it out when I get in.’

Every cheater firmly believed that thought in the room. There were only 6 staff and over 100 people were cheating. So using their numbers every cheater used all their  tactics they had to successfully cheat into this school.

After the hour was finished, President Mic came back into the Classroom.

"THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING. IF YOUR NAME WAS CALLED THEN PLEASE STAND UP."

"Suijin Shimizu"

‘Was I suspected of cheating?’

With his heart beating he stood up and was overcome by the countless eyes being placed on him.

______________________________________________________________________________________

‘Too bad, kid.’

‘Phew, glad it wasn’t me.’

‘Thanks for being my diversion.’

As Suijin stood up, the cheaters in the room whispered in their heads. They looked around and spotted something in the eyes of other cheaters. That glint of selfishness.

‘Although were all cooperating by not ratting each other our-’

‘-we each have the same goal-’

‘-and with limited spots-’

‘-Its every man for themselves.’

The malice could be felt visibly within the room. Dark thoughts wishing for everyone's downfall except their own so they could get into the school swirled around in many minds.

Principle Nezu, either ignorant of or ignoring this tense atmosphere, continued on calling names.

"Yosetu Awase"

"Itsuka Kendo"

"....."

After he was finished, about 183 students stood up. They had been told to come to the front of the auditorium and were simply standing there, half nervous, half expectant.

The cheaters inside the room, on the other hand, were sweating bullets.

‘Not one of us was selected.’

Although there were more than 100 cheaters and they may have missed some, the fact that a majority were still sitting with no sign of being called now that the principle had stopped meant they were in a perilous situation.

"Nemuri."

Suijin was among the people who were in front of the white board and looked towards the opening door.

‘That's the Pro Hero: Midnight!’

She walked in, and after winking at Nezu, who was impassive as she walked by, she stood at the center row of the seats facing everyone still sitting down.

Suijin, doing his due diligence, obviously had to scrutinize…Ahem, get all her crucial features so he can remember her in case he needs to in the future.

‘She’s a tall, curvy woman with sky blue eyes, that tilt downward in the center; framed by a set of rather long eyelashes. With her long, thick, spiky, dark purple hair, which was made up of layers of varying lengths, the longest ones reaching down below her waist. Her chin-length bangs were split into three sections; two swept to the sides and one over her face, going diagonally down to the left between her eyes.’

He looked around to see the various shades of red on every student's face as they all stared at her.

(A/N: How's the view? 😏)

‘Not that I’m immune to such effects, but obviously nobody could tell with my head.’

He coughed in his hand a bit before looking up to see some pink mist floating towards all the students in the front.

‘That must be her quirk, From what the media says, it allows her to put nearby people to sleep by exuding a sleep-inducing aroma from her body.’

Everyone who was previously sitting down, regardless of gender, was falling asleep. After seeing what was happening to those in the front, some in the back stood up, but they quickly joined the others.

"Come on examinees."

Nezu had the students follow him out the door and into their previous meeting hall. Suijin was the last out the door, and he could have sworn that a suspicious expression was laid upon Midnight's face when he turned around for one more glance.

*Shut*

Suijin and his group filtered into the leftover chairs within the room. This was the same room they were in prior, and they were reunited with the others who were here before they separated.

Nezu sat on an abnormally high chair and faced the students with his ‘face’ filled with charisma.

"Thank you all for filtering in completely. I hereby declare that, in principle, you have all passed Part 1 of the test."

*Cheers*

"Settle down. We have some food behind that door right there for you to take at your leisure. Please rest up and fill in your minds, we will have our practical exam within an hour."

Suijin checked the time, it was 12:45 and he was barely spent.

‘I should be able to pass the practical exam easily if it's anything like the written exam.’

He felt like his prospects of getting into U.A were looking up. And as this thought swirled in his mind, so did his confidence.

*1.5 hour Timeskip*

Of course, all things that go up must come down.

In accordance with that, Suijin found himself running through a simulated city with destruction all around.

The occasional rumbling could be heard from the other sites filled with the more ‘powerful’ students.

‘What kind of monsters are here?!’

Remembering what he needs to do to pass, he wanted to go back and slap his previous self.

‘Easy! What the hell is easy about this? Just my luck, I'm jinxing myself. How am I going to even pass this test.’

Suijin remembered what he was told about his exam.

‘Students Your objective will be to defeat the 3 types of villain bots that will appear in the practice area! 1 pointers, which have bulky arms and ride on one wheel. Two-pointers have two slender arms along with a tail. 2 pointers that are built like tanks with two bulky arms as well.’

"I mean, sure, even I can  deal with 1 or 2 bots by myself by drenching them in water. But I doubt that those meager points can get me into the school."

*Sigh*

He slapped his face and opened his eyes to pump himself up with motivation.

‘Where’d the light go?’

Suijin looked up and saw a huge shadow covering him. Something that took up his entire field of vision was rapidly approaching him.

With no time to think, he rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the danger. The villain bot, which fell nearly after him.

The bot was spazzing slightly, and the punches in the exterior showed that it wasn’t going to get back up any time soon.

"Sry-"

*Scratches the back of the head*

"-I didn’t look at where I threw that 3 pointer. I'm Eijirou Kirishima."

Sticking his hands out, Suijin looked at it but didn’t respond. Still being vigilant.

"...Uh, so did you know that they could climb buildings as well? Yeah, I was fighting one when three more ganged up on me. I did the manly thing and took a decisive retreat while fending them off. But who knew they would follow me inside and on top of the building."  Kirishima pointed towards the building that was 3 stories high next to them.

Suijin took a glance at it while trying to gain as much information as possible. It was another thing his dad taught him over the last ten months.

"Anyone could be a villain, so keep your vigilance, survey your surroundings before, and try not to act recklessly."

'Not that I needed a lesson in being wary of people."

Suijin looked at the building to search for evidence.

'Shattered walls, deep footprints in the dirt, and saw dust on his hands.'

So he broke his silent facade once he confirmed that Kirishima was indeed truthful.

"I’m Suijin Shimizu, and I apologize for making you wait so long for the handshake,  I just happen to take a bit longer processing things."

‘A little white lie never hurt anyone, plus checking his response could also be useful.’

*Chuckles*

"It’s nothing, but dude, you look super manly standing in that pose."

Suijin was in a crouching position with his left hand on the floor for center balancing and his right hand holding his trigger, with his head in a constant scan waiting for any danger.

(A/N: I know this is an early release kind of thing, but hopefully if nothing goes wrong, this will be the update schedule. This novel aired today, and the other aired 4 days later. If you like the story and are excited about how he’s going to deal with the exam, then stick around or comment.)
