There were two,

He shot to kill;

We only knew

When they went still.

 

There were tears,

We cried a lot

To shed our fears;

Sad, we were not.

 

“Only need,”

Father had said,

“Is why we feed

On these that bled.”

 

Some lessons a lot of people don't understand, hunting for the sport is pretty much animal cruelty, but if you're in need, it's a different thing. In case it's confusing, the part where I mention the kids not being sad, it's because they were more scared that the animals died. Since they weren't pets the kids couldn't rlly miss them, whereas if they were, the kids probs would have been sad.
