“All right. I will answer you.”

Her temptation swayed me enough to babble out the events behind the scenes. Glenn Corner, that man who sternly refused me for so long, how can he come by himself for the job?

Was it a simple coincidence? Miria didn’t believe it. And she is right. There is no way it was a simple coincidence.

It all started the moment he rejected my offer.

After learning his name at the tavern, I took an instinctive shot and invited him to become the manager of my company.

He too was curious and tagged me, and I presented the items. To be fair, I am quite proud of my items. I mean, let alone Glenn; even if it were someone else, they could also see the commercial value of it.

My items were destined to give birth to a new behemoth in the business world. That’s how brilliant they were. And Glenn, as an experienced merchant, understood it. And he was very interested in it.

But, despite it all, he rejected me. I was a bit aloof about the reason behind it, but then Miria revealed he was scared about something. Though skeptical, I followed her words and did a background check on him.

Glenn Corner came out to be a human resource treasure. Not only was he a good merchant, but he was also the father of Alice Corner, one of the members of the S-Class and Ultimate Magicians. I can’t miss it.

This revelation only fueled my desire to recruit him to work for my company. After all, he is a brilliant merchant and has a daughter who is not only talented but also beautiful in her own way.

As a greedy man, I wanted to acquire both of them. One for the company and one for the harem. But in my life, has anything gone smoothly? The trauma of Glenn Corner came to my knowledge.

An ambitious man tried to become an entrepreneur after living his high-class job, only to fail too badly. He came to the streets. He felt the limits. He was a good merchant, but there is a huge difference between a merchant and an entrepreneur.

So, I thought that maybe that failure was his trauma. The fact that he might fail again stops him from trying it again. So, I tried to persuade him again and again.

But finding it to be not working at all, I thought that there must be some other factor acting on him, which I missed. And soon, I found it.

The factor I missed – his family.

In businesses, losses are normal. While the fact that he failed in his venture might hurt him, for Glenn, there was something that made him feel more pain. And it was his act of starting a business that made his family, his wife, and his new-born daughter live a life of poverty.

The risktaker Glenn disappeared, and the stability Glenn took over, making him take on the same job as before. He did well. His family came out of the streets; his daughter is growing well; and there is no shortage of money.

All is well. But he is not.

The failure of his dream weighed on his mind, and that drove him to alcohol. He indulged in it, trying to escape from the mental pain.

And when I realized it all, that point was the moment when I started the real game.

First, I visited his family – his wife and his daughter, Alice Corner. There, I discussed Glenn with his wife. I have to say, she was a kind woman.

Looking at her, one can deduce why Glenn decided to marry her. She too was worried about his current condition, which she deemed to have started because of them.

That’s right. Just like Glenn, this woman thought that she and Alice were responsible for Glenn’s current condition. She believes that her and Alice’s existence caused him to stop his dreams, making him feel like a failure.

She carried that guilt in her heart all the time. So, how can she now scold Glenn for becoming an alcoholic? And that’s why she is silent.

Acting as a benevolent person, I told her to talk with him, giving Glenn the reassurance that she never resented him for his failure. Her reassurance was a huge and important step to getting Glenn.

I didn’t forget my other intentions. Taking this as an opportunity, I got acquainted with the beautiful, petite girl – Alice Corner. An investment is necessary for future profits.

But soon came my second step. The final meeting with Glenn. This meeting is all about me making Glenn reflect on himself. Making him look at his current condition and compare it with his past.

That’s why I exploded. And I was pent up after all those rejections anyway. So, taking advantage of the moment, I thrashed him. Scolded him as loud and angry as possible.

The third step. Unlike the other two, this one was automatic. It didn’t need any interference from me. That’s why I was worried. After all, it relied on luck, and my luck sucked. But if everything I expected happens, then...

And it happened.

The thrashed Glenn went back to his home, self-reflecting because of my words all the time. And when a person is in doubt, he seeks a companion. Who is Glenn’s closest and most trusted companion?

His wife.

This was the reason I visited his family first. The talks started and ended with Glenn embodied with the new, no, the same past courage. The wife’s talk did wonders, and her support made that traumatized man take a step to come out of his pitiful life.

“So, you visited the wife to make sure she supports Glenn and helps him agree with the job?”

“That’s right. But if Glenn didn’t have the interest, it wouldn’t have worked.”

While his interest was indeed a factor, the major contributor was not his interest but my consistent meetings. If not for me following him all the time, making myself known, and persuading him consistently, how could he think of me in the first place?

“So, you manipulated him and her wife to make sure he joined you?”

Miria looked at me and said it with surprise. After all, she saw me manipulate them and yet let them, even though she didn’t know it.

“Well, what can I say? It’s God’s fault to make me so talented.”

“What talented? Stop bragging about yourself. But if you manipulated them, don’t tell me... Did you do that to me as well?"

Gulp! This girl... she is sharp!

“Well, Miria. Now is the time to keep your promise. Let me eat you.”

“Wait! Don’t change the subj-- Aah! W-Wait! You… D-Don’t bite my nipples…!”
