Howdy people, so this is the first side story, and just to give some quick context to them, they are always from a different POV, and some may even not show our protagonist Lilith in them. They are made to be different, some may be in a different timeframe, or even be different to the normal chapters regarding their content, being more comedic or focused on romance or horror, or simply giving some context to characters, some who may not appear in the story until later. In the case of this one, this one is based on lovecraftian horror, so I hope ya'll enjoy it <3

"Of course it is, they even told me that the information was given directly by a servant from the nobles."

"Are you sure?"

"We paid a lot of gold, and those guys said they value their reputation more than gold."

"You made a vow of secrecy didn't you?"

"We even have a magical contract, if either of us tell anyone who isn't involved we would die."

"Alright, then go ahead and tell me, is this noble who will pass through rich?"

"Oh yes, I don't really recall from which family they are, but I do know that other than her being a child, they are supposedly filthy rich. Oh and the name of the noble is Lili…"

"Then let's get to it!" I said excitedly; with the amount of money from the ransom, we would have enough to live like kings, so we gathered the crew and prepared to set an ambush…

As we gathered the men we thought of a plan, given that apparently the carriage had no guards and there was only a coachman. We figured it would be an extremely easy mission, some of us even thought that it had to be a trap, but the wealth that we would gain from ransoming a noble would be enough to try it out, even if it was a trap.

As the day approached, we saw the carriage approaching, it was then that one of the men with us noticed something, the emblem on the carriage, and he quickly started getting very nervous.

"I… You never told me it would be them!" He shouted nervously.

"Shush, you will alert them!"

"You don't know who they are, do you?"

"I don't care, the ransom should be in the hundreds of gold coins!"

"I'm out, I can't be a part of this!" He said as he ran away to the forest in a terrified manner.

"Alright, everyone ignore that guy, he's just a coward and a fool. Let's get some money today!" Although most of them celebrated, I knew some of the men were nervous, after seeing the outburst of the one who ran away.

It was then that the plan was kicked into action; in truth it was a simple and safe plan, just take advantage of their noblesse oblige by having one of ours jump in front of the carriage, the noble would obviously want to help the commoner and then we simply kidnap the noble.

It all began, and one of us jumped from the side of the road in front of the carriage; the horses were startled, but the coachmen looked apathetic, actually, he looked downright creepy, from the distance he looked human, but now that he was near he looked bizarre, his eyes showed no life nor soul, and his movements were stiff, but violent.

We could hear a voice coming from the inside of the carriage, "Just run him over… We have a place to be."

It started moving quickly, and even when the poor guy tried to move away he was quickly squashed like a bug by the carriage, we could see that he was severely injured, but still alive, so we decided to jump out from the sides and stop the carriage by force.

The carriage stopped once more, I thought that the coachman would do something, but he was not moving, he was completely still. Soon enough the door from the carriage opened, and from it a girl with a cane, at most she must be around 12 years old, stumbled out the look on her eyes was vicious, the grin on her face was one that I've never seen in a child or even the one of a murderer; but one that made my blood run cold.

"Ah, so you are the entertainment for the trip. Tell me, do you do tricks?" She said in a voice that sent shivers down my spine.

I couldn't help but raise my weapon involuntarily, it was as if my body was screaming that something was wrong with her, it was not only her eyes, her grin, or her mannerisms, it was her aura as if my soul itself was being absorbed by a void of nothing but malice.

"Who are you?!" One of the men shouted

She only laughed, but quickly replied, "Ohh, I shall at least answer if those are your final wishes; my name is Lilith Edeltraud."

"What do you mean last wish…"

The little girl moved her finger, without even moving her arms, and a pink mist covered the environment; I turned around to see what I believe used to be a person lying on the ground in a pulp of guts and gore.

I saw some of the mist on my hand, and it was then that I noticed, it was not a mist, it was blood…

Her smiling face quickly turned sour and then she quickly said, "Alright, I feel bored, go ahead and have your fun." As she returned to the carriage.

The coachman fell to the ground as if he was dead as soon as she finished her phrase; I could not see him as he fell to the other side of the carriage, but I saw how the ones who could were seemingly paralized out of fear.

Then I saw him… no what I saw was not a human, nor was it a demon; it was something worse. I could feel my sanity hanging by a thread when I saw him moving, a being of pure horror, an indescribable being. My imagination could never even begin to describe what sort of creature I was seeing, a grotesque human caricature that was slithering on the floor like a worm; one thing was clear though, there was no language in the world that could accurately describe the sheer abomination that I had before my eyes.

I had heard before of the stories of ancient heroes defeating the evil demon kings and saving the world; but against someone like that girl, who could command such an abomination, I thought that not even those heroes of legend could dare to imagine defeating something like her. It was then that I understood why there were no knights guarding this carriage, rather we needed knights to protect us from such an abomination.

Some of the men who dared to stay started to have seizures, others vomited, and others quickly killed themselves with their weapons.

I tried to run away, but my body crumbled, it was as if I could not even feel my legs; I tried to scream, but no voice would come out; I tried to fight, but my arms wouldn't move…

The abomination drew closer and I could feel my life drifting away, but then I began to feel alive again…

I turned my head upwards and saw the little girl standing there, she was looking directly at me and said, "You seem to be braver than most…" As she pointed to my head with her cane.

I could not respond to what she said, but then she continued, "I may have a use for you; so I will give you a choice, either follow now or follow me after you die."

I could feel my voice return to me as I quickly shouted, "Please, let me live, I will serve you for all of my life!"

"No, not only in life shall you follow me, you shall also follow me in your death, my friend." She said with a smirk on her face as she started to slowly walk back to her carriage; the horrid coachman got back to the carriage and started to drive away, as I stood there trembling in fear.

I looked around and that's when I saw it, all of the people that came with me to try to kidnap the noble were dead, I was the only one alive…
