After the announcement has been made, everyone started gathering supplies. Whether it's food, weapons or shields they were preparing. They only had 3 days to get ready so Yuuji and Amilia decided to split up and gather supplies. Yuuji ,being the one who can cook and understands basic cooking concepts, was sent to purchase the food supplies, While Amilia went to the nearest armoury to get a new sword for Yuuji and a new staff for herself. Yuuji's previous sword was really hard to handle him being the expert at swordsmanship he was capable of coping with it but he wasn't comfortable with it, So he sent out Amilia to buy him a new sword that had enough magical capabilities. Their budget wasn't that big and they tried to spread it wisely which at that time the prices doubled for people from the adventurer's guild as a way to prevent them from hoarding all the food and materials available. They started their hunt with 50 golden coins each golden coin is worth 30 silver and each silver is worth 50 bronze it was split like the following : Yuuji gets 10 golden coins and Amilia gets 25 golden coins the rest stayed at the inn safe to have some spare money in case they needed it. While Wintervale uses "Eris" as their currency Aetherland uses normal coins. 1 Eris equals 5 bronze coins. Most of the countries actually use "Eris" instead of coins but Aetherland and The land of the great rocks prefer to use coins. Yuuji started off buying essentials only for food tomatoes, potatoes and some cabbages he didn't want to buy much meat since preserving magic is mana heavy and would be a great toll on Amilia. with that he was left with 7 golden coins. You'd think he got cheated out of money but he went overboard with the vegies. On the other side, Amilia went to the Armoury straight away looking at swords that were put on preview Amilia didn't feel any of them would actually be good enough or even useful for Yuuji. They all looked like cheap swords made of scraps. With a look of disappointment on her face as she's failing her mission, The shopkeeper called her
"Hey! miss, are you looking for something specific ?"-said the shopkeeper
"Umm yes, i'm looking for a sword that is comfortable to handle but also can store a lot of mana"-said Amilia
"Well. i keep those at the back. to be honest with you some adventurers just waste my time with them so i put those on show but you seem to have a good eye for weapons. i'll bring you the sword stay there"-said the shopkeeper with a kind look on his face while also sounding disappointed in most adventurers
"Here you go, this is the best sword i have."-said the shopkeeper showing Amilia a sword that looked really sharp
The sword was dark grey and when Amilia sensed the mana levels in it she was amazed it was perhaps 5 times as much as the sword Yuuji was currently using
"That looks good enough how much do i need to pay?"-said Amilia while grabbing her pouch of money
"Well normal people i'd be overpricing them because they don't understand anything, but you miss, you've got a keen eye i can't even trick you. This sword costs 21 golden coins"-said the shopkeeper with a smile on his face
After purchasing the sword Amilia had no money left to buy herself a new staff so she decided to head to the inn and meet up with Yuuji
"Yuuji, here's your new sword"-said Amilia handing the sword over
"Woah! It feels much better than my previous one! It feels lighter and better"-said Yuuji with an excited look looking like a child on christmas after his dad bought him a new bike
"But Amilia you still have your old staff"-said Yuuji switching to a confused look
"Ah i didn't think i needed one so i thought i could carry on with this staff thank you!"-said Amilia sounding slightly nervous since she didn't want Yuuji to know that she didn't have enough to get herself a new staff

Yuuji Looked at Amilia realizing she's lying about not needing a new staff. He saw her staff which looked old and ragged. He just looked at her with a look that could only be described as a look of gratefulness yet he was feeling bad.
"How much did the sword cost ,Amilia"-said Yuuji with a calm tone
"Oh i forgot how much it costed hahaha"-said Amilia getting more and more nervous
"Amilia, it costed you all the money and that's why you didn't buy yourself a new staff correct ?"-said Yuuji starting to sound like he's mad
"umm.. yes.."-said Amilia surrendering knowing Yuuji will eventually figure it out
Yuuji bowed down to Amilia both apologizing and thanking her leaving the room after that
"I'm just the worst. i asked for too much and i was selfish i need to repay her somehow"-thought Yuuji to himself
After that Yuuji headed to the inn safe grabbed all the coins and headed out. Now with 17 golden coins which was all they had besides the 4 that was left with Amilia he headed to the armoury to get Amilia a new staff.
"Hello sir, how can i help you today ?"-said the shopkeeper
"I want your best staff. Here's 17 golden coins"-said Yuuji with the same annoyed tone
"Oho you came to the right place ,sir. alright give me a moment"-said the shopkeeper going out the back of the shop
"Here's the staff, sir. it's made of the best magical wood we have and from the most powerful orb my expedition team could find"-said the shopkeeper
"I'll take it. thank you"-said Yuuji taking the staff and leaving the money still angry at himself that someone had to sacrifice their needs for him
After the incident in Wintervale Yuuji always thought of himself as the reason general Marcus died since he wasn't careful general Marcus had to sacrifice himself to protect Yuuji ever since his mind has been full of thought of him just being selfish and useless
Going back to the inn now Yuuji knocked on Amilia's room and went in
"As an apology... please take this Staff i got"-said Yuuji bowing down offering out the staff
"Yuuji.. you didn't have to"-said Amilia with a gentle tone
"No! i must do this you got me something and sacrificed your own happiness for me i must return the favour!"-said Yuuji sounding more Japanese than he ever sounded in this world
After testing out the staff Amilia nodded her head that Yuuji got the right staff for her. the staff was white with some green vines around it and the orb was also green more of a lime color
the testing took a long time and it was already night time they had to wake up early for the boat tomorrow as they were heading towards the island.
The next morning they took the boat with some adventurers including Kazuma he was very far from the crowd. it took them 2 days of travel during which nothing happened it was just a boring ride although Amilia nearly vomited 3 times
After arriving it was in the afternoon. a magical clock said it was around 4 pm. They decided to set up the camp today and explore tomorrow. After some trouble with setting up their tent it was already 9 pm the adventurers decided to then go to sleep as their first day on the island has now ended
"As the protector of the island of the sorcerer supreme i shall trap you in eternal suffering"
the voice was in Yuuji's head and he just thought he was hallucinating. Yuuji opened his eyes to find himself stranded alone in a cold blizzard running around to find any shelter. the place looked like the island he was confused on the whereabouts of everyone. on his way he found a small cute looking rabbit. Yuuji loved animals and pets when he was in Japan. as Yuuji got closer to the rabbit to just pat its head, Yuuji found blood splattering in front of his face. looking at the rabbit he found it munching on his hand. suddenly Yuuji felt the pain of that bite. He started screaming out loud not knowing what to do. His screams attracted more rabbits and they all swarmed him. Yuuji got eaten alive. Yuuji then suddenly opened his eyes again to an open desert.
