Chapter 3: Limitless III

.................

"Limitless..." Yovan murmured, observing the system for a while, 'So the countdown is in hours... Right, it amounts to about a year, so that's all I have for the countdown to end... What will happen.'

He was curious, but he had his priorities straight. He started training with his focus completely on Limitless, seeing if there would be any change. Push-ups, pull-ups, squats, and jogging around the island.

He exhausted himself up until he became a soaking mess of sweat, breathing heavily.

Yovan then drank little coconut milk before making a fire and getting the fish to cook. It was getting incredibly hot, more than yesterday, "Is it summer? After summer comes fall and then winter... I hope it rains soon."

He was constantly observing things, coming to a certain conclusion, and this was a grim one, "God my life is hanging on so many uncertainties... But at least I have a last resort."

Yovan noted to himself and even carved it on the sand in his shelter. He cooked the fish and then ate it, followed by a single banana. Only then did Yovan clean himself up from sweat, and put his pants to dry.

"Hm? Why?" Yovan wondered as he looked at limitless, noticing a single change, not what he expected at all.

[Mind: 10/∞]

Just to make sure he went back into his shelter looking through the symbols, 'Yup, it was definitely 9 before, but now it changed while my physique remained the same which makes sense because it wouldn't change so soon.'

He started contemplating his course of action again, 'Is it worthwhile to keep training and expending so much energy when there aren't many resources to sustain me for long? But assuming I'm in the world I think I am... I have to.'

Exercise will exhaust him and cause him to expend too much energy, and burn through his bodily fluids and fat, meaning he will have to drink and eat more.

Moreover, for his workout to have any effect, he has to feed himself plenty and give his body an abundance of nutrients to build muscle and get stronger.

He was more so relying on the logic of this world because such a workout won't have much effect in such short amounts of time in his previous world, but now, he has to try. He wants to see the limits of limitless?

And so, Yovan caught a few more fishes, preparing them for dinner, then he made a move reeking of desperation or perhaps hope.

He started constructing more water collectors, much more just in case it rains, no matter how unlikely it was.

It usually takes him about half an hour or more to spear a single fish, a testament to its difficulty considering his experience, 'Well, I will see into making a fish trap later.'

So if he plans on following a workout routine, he has to hunt more. Not just that, he needs a source of water because the coconuts won't last for long.

"The only method available for me now is distillation, but I don't have the tools necessary... I'll have to improvise. It'll be a lot of work, but you gotta do what you gotta do."

Distillation is a very simple process in description, but hard in application. All it requires is boiling sea water, turning water into a vapor which isolates it from salt. That vapor then needs to cool down reverting into water again, drinkable water.

He was very committed. Woking hard was no foreign thing to him, it was an everyday occurrence.

The danger of his situation also didn't faze him much because where others see despair, he sees opportunities. He can see the lines to follow for survival, so he got to work instantly.

He went around the Island again, this time looking through the shallow waters around it.

He was on the hunt for two things, clams, and crabs. Either of them can act as a reliable heat absorber, allowing him to heat water up.

And thus Yovan's daily routine began, doing pretty much the same things for a month. His willpower was certainly commendable because the loneliness of the desolate island barely affected him.

That was mainly because he was used to such a thing in his previous adventures, but even then, he noticed something strange. He was way less affected than he thought he'd be.

The situation he's in is so much more uncertain and dangerous to the point it can drive people mad.

Constantly having to live with the possibility of death, the tense atmosphere of the Island, the anxiety about the future... This was a recipe for depression.

Yovan's shelter has undergone a massive change, becoming much bigger, and neater. It certainly didn't look like a house, but it at least looked a bit livable, and a bit cozy.

The coziness of the area was further complemented by the campfire built before it. It had a large log right next to it, facing the ocean.

There were also several complicated constructions around, all serving a purpose. Hell, there was even a large doll, seemingly made of leaves and bushes, nailed to a large branch.

It stood right next to the campfire, "You think so too Zeus? It's getting hotter even at night, like, what a shit weather. If only there was someone who could make it rain!"

Hmm, his stay on the island certainly didn't affect him much. He was seated on that log before the lit-up campfire. This time though, there was another source of light, faint but still there, it was moonlight.

The faint light of the moon gave the Island a gorgeous glow, some of that moonlight fell on the doll, giving a clear look at its appearance, and well, he certainly did his best to make it look like Zeus, even going as far as making a beard out of coconut meat... Yovan was fine though.

"Perhaps you'll be happier when I make Poseidon? I've read that he once tried to overthrow you... Well, many times actually, so don't hesitate to show him your anger, Zeus! Let thunder fall upon him! Let there be chaos! And most importantly, please make it rain."

Indeed, he was making another doll at the moment, and it was Poseidon no matter how much it doesn't look like him.

"Hahaha," Yovan let out a small laugh for apparently no reason, "I swear if someone is watching me right now, they'd think I'm going crazy, but I feel crazily sane."

He was adorned in his clothes, and he even had a blanket of palm fronds on his back, keeping him cozy. His facial hair was growing, and his hair was getting longer, a testament to the passage of time.

"It should definitely be because of you, right Limitless?" Yovan finally eyed the system, something he explored very thoroughly in the past month.

[System: Limitless]

[Name: Yovan Night]

[Age: 22/69]

[Physique: 10/∞]

[Endurance: 11/∞]

[Agility: 11/∞]

[Willpower: 19/∞]

[Mind: 13/∞]

[Countdown]

"Well, I'm definitely not hallucinating." That much he was sure of since long ago. The system was real. He was real. Everything was real... Or not.

Yovan noted a lot of things throughout the last month, First, he can clearly feel the advancement in his strength because when he first arrived here, he felt a bit uncomfortable and heavier almost as if there was a change in gravity.

Since he had already started to firmly believe himself to be in a different world, he came to the conclusion that gravity in this world is different.

That uncomfortableness has vanished though as his stats went up. This led him to another irregularity he noticed, his stats were going up way too fast.

'I can safely assume that the average human stats in my previous world are about 4 or 5.

This is based on how my stats were, so it should be accurate, yet I have just advanced way beyond that in a matter of a month.'

It was still a wonder to him whether that was due to Limitless or simply the nature of this world.

He finds the latter to be unlikely because he isn't from this world, but who knows if the rules apply to him just because he's within it.

'The change isn't too noticeable, so my advancement shouldn't be much by this world's standards, right?'

Yovan let out a sigh, shaking his head before a bright smile surfaced on his face, "Alright! Poseidon is here!"

He hastily walked towards Zeus, and pushed the two close to each other, "Go on, Kiss, I don't judge... No? I guess I have to give you two a little push, like it's okay to confess, nothing wrong with that. Go on kiss!"

His words were saying something, but his mind was thinking something else, 'Zeus Please get mad! Please get mad! Please get mad! Please get mad! Please get mad! Please get mad! Please get mad! Please get mad! Please get mad! Please get mad! Please get mad!' Etc...
