Chapter 19: A Masochist Or A Sadist In Making III

.................

"Now we can have a long chat. Hell, we can even be friends," Yovan released a bright smile as he eyed the other person in the area, "Hey, Hercules, do you know anything about torture?"

"No? It never had to go that far huh? You're that intimidating... But I'm not, so how can I go about this?" To Francis, it was like Yovan was talking to himself, but he was obviously talking to the doll.

However, the doll wasn't talking back, so Francis couldn't help but be confused, and Yovan didn't stop there.

"Do you think I can be intimidating, Hercules?" Yovan further wondered with a frown, "Really? Well, it's at least possible. I really don't feel like I'm intimidating at all."

Francis couldn't help but gulp in nervousness, fear slowly overwhelming him.

Yovan turning into a crow already placed the latter in the category of monsters in Francis' mind, and the following show added the word insane to the equation.

You're not only a monster which is already insane, but you're also insane. Francis knows the Insane to be either the easiest or the hardest to deal with in his line of work.

They're either too predictable or incredibly unpredictable, and Yovan here seems to be very peculiar even among the insane.

Yovan left Francis tied down behind him and went on to rummage through some baggage to the side, "As you see, I don't know anything about torture, so ignore how bad I will be."

Soon Yovan was making his way to Francis with a piece of wood and a small knife in his hand. He had a look of contemplation on his face as he stood before Francis, thinking about how he should go about this.

"P-please stopp! You don't have to do this!" Cries of desperation reverberated as Francis was on the verge of soiling himself.

'But I do... I have to but I really don't want to,' Yovan mused in his mind as he took a deep breath.

The reality of the matter was that every action he took since arriving in this world was for survival. It was all out of necessity.

He went against many values he held just for the sake of survival because that matters to him more than anything. He made a promise to survive, and he very much plans to keep it.

"Excuse my manners," Yovan stated as he crouched down, "This piece of wood isn't sharp, so it might take a while to dig deep, so please bear with me."

Slowly but surely, the broken piece of wood was making its way to Francis, ready to dig into his left arm. Yovan was certainly taking his time to the point it almost drove Francis mad with terror.

"Wai!!Wait!!! I'll tell! I'll tell! Please stoop!" Francis could only slightly shake in his place while crying out in fright.

"Really?" Yovan doubted, "That easy? Aren't you Mafia families supposed to be extremely loyal?"

"Loyal my ass! With the existence of that other monster and the state of the families, loyalty is a foregone concept!!" He wanted to tell a bit too much as he started to scream, trying to let it all out quickly.

Thankfully, Francis realized his mistake as he stopped himself, "I mean, sorry!"

"No worries. I understand." Yovan shrugged with a hidden sigh of relief. He truly didn't want to torture him, or anyone for that matter.

That just wasn't his thing considering his father taught him since young to have mercy when on the hunt. Putting an animal as quickly as possible was the path he took.

He would've certainly done it if he had to because there are many things he had to give up on for survival, but he'd much rather not to.

And well, Francis was just another animal standing on Yovan's path to survival. That's at least how he'd like to see things to keep a clear mind.

"First, who is the monster you speak of?" Yovan asked the most important question... Is there a threat that can stand between him and survival on this side of the world?

"H..." Francis gulped, his face going pale, a sign of just how traumatic the memory of the monster was, "His name is Capone Bege, the head of one of the five families of the west."

"Oh? Expand..."

Francis was kind of a chatterbox, going far and beyond to tell Yovan a lot. However, Yovan knew that Francis must've kept a lot from him, so he untied Francis and took him to the ship.

Yovan collected some of his baggage from the beach and took it to the ship before sailing away with Francis acting as a guide.

Strangely, Yovan let Francis roam about and do whatever he wants with little to no surveillance. He instead focused on his training right on the main deck, giving Francis a torturous show.

Francis was already afraid before, but seeing the torture Yovan goes through every single day, he was terrified.

So the chatterbox started functioning again as he told Yovan almost everything he knows just in the hope of survival.

"Capone Bege huh? Go into details," It was finally time to listen to the most important topic, so Yovan brought out his notebook, and waited for Francis to speak.

"Bege... He grew up in the West Blue, where he became the boss of one of its Five Families of the West out of nowhere.

He quickly became infamous due to quickly bringing down rival mafias by going directly for their bosses, and yes, he also went after my former boss.

However, he only stole money and precious items from the mafias he brought down, being content to watch the struggle for power that would ensue afterward without gaining any power of his own.

He is a monster who only enjoys the struggle of others... I mean, we're not good people too, but our main goal is power and money... Bege, on the other hand, seemed to only want to watch others suffer.

Bege accumulated many enemies, so you might wonder how he's still alive. He did attract the ire of all of the other Mafias after all.

Well, we really tried, all of the Mafia families other than Bege's assembled together, yet he managed to repel all of them with his monstrous nature, alone.

He's a monster like you with power of such a degree it makes us look like children running about.

That's why the structure of the families was constantly in flux due to the actions of that monster solely to watch the struggle for power that would ensue."

"Oh," Yovan's eyes sparkled, seeing an opportunity, "Expand upon the state of your Mafia family."

Francis nodded and honestly answered. He could see that there is perhaps a way of survival, "Depression? Vigilance? Fear... It's like everyone was expecting Bege to pay us a visit because it's been a while since he targeted any of the Mafias."

"That actually sounds perfect..." Yovan smiled as he stroked his chin, "We aren't far off from your Mafia Family's base, just a few hours away I assume?"

"Yeah..." Francis nodded, narrowing his eyes in nervousness. Yovan's expression was speaking of mischief and danger.

"Gotta go to work now, I guess, so listen carefully..." As Yovan spoke, he brought out his knife and without hesitation stabbed himself right on his left shoulder, painting himself with blood.
