“What are we doing here?” Zoro asked, sitting down on piece of rubble of the deserted Arlong Park.

“I’m sure you’ve heard the news by now.” Gohan answered looking at them.

“Yeah, you’re joining the crew.” Usopp said, nodding his head.

“Not exactly.” Gohan replied.

“What do you mean not exactly?” Sanji asked, blowing smoke.

“Luffy left before I could give him a proper answer.” Gohan replied.

“I thought you said that you would join after helping Nami with Arlong.” Zoro responded, staring at him.

“…no, I said I would think about joining the crew.” Gohan said shaking his head, “Luffy just decided that I would join on his own. I could have changed my mind and decided not to join in the end.”

“Did you change your mind?” Zoro asked.

“What, No! I already decided you’re joining my crew.” Luffy shouted not letting him answer.

“But what if I don’t want to.” Gohan said looking at Luffy.

“No! I refuse your refusal.” Luffy said shaking his head, crossing his arms.

“So, you are forcing me to join you?” Gohan asked, suddenly getting serious. “Then I guess I’ll have to beat you and leave while you’re recovering.”

“I…what?” Luffy uttered tilting his head to the side, “Why would you fight me?”

“Yeah, why would you fight Luffy, aren’t you friends?” Usopp asked.

“Are we?” Gohan asked, turning towards Usopp.

“I…yeah, I mean, aren’t you?” Usopp asked, looking at him.

“I don’t know.” Gohan said, shaking his head.

“What do you mean?” Usopp asked.

“You guys know of my past and how I got here.” Gohan said, looking at all of them as they nodded, “Well ever since I arrived, I’ve never had time to really think about what I want to do with this new lease on life and before I can give it any real thought Luffy is trying to force a decision on me. It makes me second guess joining the crew if Luffy won’t even give me a chance to think about what I want to do, with my life.”

“…So, you’re not joining the crew?” Sanji asked.

“I didn’t say that.” Gohan said, shaking his head.

“What are you saying?” Zoro asked, sitting up.

“I could be…convinced to join the crew if you guys can pass a simple…let’s call it a test.” Gohan replied.

“What type of test?” Usopp asked.

“A spar.” Gohan said with a smile.

“A spar!?” Luffy and the other’s repeated surprised.

“Yes, a spar.” Gohan repeated with a nod of his head.

“…with whom?” Sanji asked.

“Me vs. all of you.” Gohan said.

“What!?” “That’s crazy!” they exclaimed.

“Not really, if I’m going to join you guys then I want to make sure I’m joining a crew that can defend themselves, I’ve already lost too many people I care about and I don’t want to go through that again. I want to see how you guys react to an opponent who is leagues above you, how you guys react to the threat and depending on the results of the spar then I’ll consider joining the crew.” Gohan explained.

“Ok!” Luffy answered quickly, before anyone else could say anything.

“W-what are you crazy Luffy!” Usopp cried out, “He’s too strong we can’t beat him!”

“But I want to fight him, because he’s so strong.” Luffy said, grinning.

“That’s crazy, Luffy.” Usopp said shaking his head.

“It will be fine.” Luffy said waving, Usopp off.

“…As a captain you should to listen to your crew and take their thoughts and safety into account before deciding something like this. Especially when facing a situation, you don’t know you can handle.” Gohan said looking at Luffy, “I won’t follow someone, who won’t even do something as simple as that.” He added before standing up.

“Where are you going?” Sajni asked.

“I’m going to give you guys some space so you can decide if you want to go through this or not.” Gohan said walking away.

“…Luffy forget about recruiting him, he’s too strong.” Usopp said shaking his head as soon as Gohan was out of earshot, “None of us can beat him, you’ve seen what he can do.”

“But I want to fight him.” Luffy said pouting.

“I hate to agree with Usopp but, I think he’s right.” Sanji said lighting another cigarette, “We all saw what he did to Don Krieg, what’s to stop him from doing the same to us.”

“He wouldn’t do that, he’s not that type of person.” Zoro replied.

“And how would you know that moss head.” Sanji said looking at Zoro.

“Simple you perverted cook, we’ve traveled with him longer than you and based on what he’s told us about himself, he only kills when he needs to protect innocent lives or if he has no other choice.” Zoro said, staring at where Gohan was sitting cross-legged with his eyes closed, “He wouldn’t bother killing us in a simple spar, he would just beat us all, unconscious and leave while we recover.”

“…you may have a point, but our captain is trying to force him to do something against his will, are you saying he won’t defend himself if we continue to force the issue especially since he has a new lease on life.” Sanji retorted.

“…I don’t know.” Zoro said, after a long pause.

“See Luffy we should just let him go.” Usopp said looking at him.

“…But we need him on our crew.” Luffy said, looking at them.

“Why?” Usopp asked.

“Because he can shoot lasers and fly!” Luffy answered his eyes sparkling.

“We need a better reason than that!” Usopp exclaimed. “He’s too strong!”

“How about because he’s so strong.” Nami said.

“…what do you mean?” Usopp asked, looking at her.

“Having someone with his skills and knowledge on the crew would be useful.” Nami answered.

“That will only be helpful if we manage to beat him.” Usopp said shaking his head.

“…you have a point. I don’t know if we can win.” Nami said nodding.

“We can’t win.” Zoro said nodding slowly as Usopp turned to him with a smile, “…at least not by ourselves.” Zoro said, looking at them as Usopp’s smile turned into a frown.

“…are you suggesting we fight him together?” Sanji asked.

“Yeah, at least that way we might stand a chance.” Zoro said, nodding his head.

“…even if we team up, I still don’t know if we can win.” Sanji said shaking his head

“Yeah, did you forget he defeated all of Kuro’s and Arlong’s men by himself without getting a single scratch! And that’s not counting what he did to Don Kreig and his men!” Usopp cried out.

“Why don’t we vote on it.” Nami interrupted, before someone else could speak.

“Yeah, that’s a great idea! Let’s vote on if we should fight Gohan or not.” Usopp said nodding his head, quickly, clinging to the lifeline.

“Sound good?” Nami asked.

“I agree with Nami!” Sanji exclaimed with a big smile.

“I don’t have a problem with it.” Zoro said.

“…ok let’s vote on it.” Luffy said seeing that everyone else agreed.

“Great! Majority wins.” Usopp said, nodding his head with a smile as the others agreed, “Raise your hand if you think we shouldn’t fight Gohan.” He said raising his hand quickly, “N-Nami?” he uttered when he saw that she didn’t raise her hand.

“Oh, did I forget to tell you guys that if Gohan doesn’t join the crew than neither will I.” Nami said in fake surprise, “I’m so sorry it must have slipped my mind.”

“NO!” Usopp cried out as his head snapped towards Sanji who put his half-raised hand back down, leaving Usopp the only one with his hand raised.

“Looks like we’re fighting Gohan.” Zoro said, gripping his katana with a grin.

“Yeah!” Luffy shouted.

“I’ll go tell him.” Nami said walking towards Gohan.

“How could you betray me!” Usopp cried out looking at Sanji.

“I will never vote against a beautiful woman.” Sanji said, with no shame.

Gohan opened his eyes when he heard Nami walking up towards him, “Your plan worked.” Nami said, with a smile.

“I told you it would.” Gohan said, nodding at her.

“Yeah, you did, but now you have to hold up your end of the deal.” Nami said, looking at him.

“I will… if you tell me what you’re planning.” Gohan said, looking at her, she had agreed to help him with his plan if he promised to excuse her from the spar because if she was injured then her surprise for him would be ruined.

“Nope.” Nami said shaking her head, “I told you it’s a surprise.”

“Hmm…fine, but I will want to see what you can actually do later.” Gohan said shrugging, it didn’t bother him much since this spar was just to see their skills and determine how to best make them stronger.

“…That’s fine. I wanted to ask you if you could teach me some moves since we both use a staff like weapon anyway.” Nami said nodding.

“…hmm ok.” Gohan nodded, “Looks like they’re ready.” He said guesting towards Luffy and the others who were walking towards them.

“Right, let’s go.” Nami said walking towards the group.

Gohan noticed that besides Usopp everyone looked ready for the fight, “So Nami tells me you’ve come to a decision.”

“Yeah, we’re going to fight you.” Luffy said happily.

“I see…and are you prepared to give up on the idea of recruiting me when you lose?” Gohan said, staring into Luffy’s eyes.

“We won’t.” Luffy said, shaking his head with determination.

“Hmm, and what about you guys, do you feel the same?” Gohan asked the others.

“…I don’t know if we will win but I know I’ll do my best. I’ve wanted to see how I stack up against you.” Zoro said, grinning.

“I’ll do my best too, for Nami’s sake.” Sanji said, with fire in his eyes.

“…If the others are determined than I have no choice but to back them up.” Usopp said his legs shaking.

Gohan nodded his head somewhat happy at how they seemed to band together, “Good.” He said smiling, “Let’s begin then.” He said, taking a few steps back and sliding into his stance. “Nami start us off please.”

“Ok.” Nami said stepping to the side, “…Begin!” she shouted bringing her hand down.

Luffy attacked as soon as Nami gave the word, “Gum-Gum Pistol!” Luffy shouted trying to catch Gohan off-guard.

Gohan simply side-stepped the attack, grabbed Luffy’s arm and prepared to yank Luffy toward him but had let go when he saw Sanji attacking from the air shouting, “Collier Shoot!”

Gohan dodged the attack by jumping over him and knocking him away with his tail, Luffy tried to attack him as he landed, but he ducked under the attack and fired a small ki blast at Luffy which hit him in the stomach. The attack sent him flying into a charging Zoro knocking them both to the ground.

“Cotelette!” Sanji shouted as he tried to kick Gohan from behind, but Gohan turned around, grabbed his leg and tossed him away.

“Lead Star Combo!” Usopp shouted firing at Gohan who had his back turned from tossing Sanji, but he still managed to catch each of Usopp’s attacks with one hand before tossing them all back at Usopp who was unable to avoid them as they all hit him in his chest bringing him to his knees.

“Wow!” Nami uttered, as Gohan dusted his hands off.

“Do you guys want to give up?” Gohan asked, as everyone slowly got back up.

“N-no!” Luffy said, sitting up rubbing his stomach, revealing his shirt was burnt.

“W-we didn’t even get him to move from where he was standing.” Usopp uttered, rubbing his chest as he stood up.

“You can use your tail as a weapon!” Sanji exclaimed, getting up from the rubble he crashed into.

“Yeah, think of it as an extension of my body.” Gohan said, as he curled his tail around his waist. “At this rate, you guys will have to leave the island without me.” He said looking at Luffy.

“No, I’ll get you to join my crew, if it’s the last thing I do.” Luffy said, standing up, cracking his knuckles.

 “Hmm…Ok.” Gohan said, shrugging, as he glanced at them as they slowly positioned themselves around him, he noticed something, “Time-out!” Gohan shouted.

“W-What’s wrong?” Luffy asked, who fell to the ground as he was about to attack.

“Nothing much but one of you is currently handicapped.” Gohan said looking at Zoro.

“W-what are you talking about?” Zoro asked, looking at him in confusion.

“You use three sword style but only have one sword. Let me fix that.” Gohan said, firing a white beam from his fingers making two katanas appear on the ground, “Here, I hope these work.” He said tossing them to Zoro.

“…These will work just fine.” Zoro said catching them and testing them out. “…thanks.” He said with smile.

“Great, let’s start round two.” Gohan said, sliding back into his stance.

“Start!” Nami shouted.

“Lead Star Combo!” Usopp shouted firing at him, Gohan caught them, but they exploded on contact creating a smoke screen blocking his vision. “Opps I meant Smoke Star Combo.” He heard Usopp say.

“Poitrine!” Sanji shouted charging in right as the smoke appeared.

Gohan dodged the attack by jumping to his right and pushing Sanji away right where he was quickly met by Luffy who attacked as soon as he saw him, “Gum-Gum Whip!”

Gohan jumped over and kicked Luffy away but he ran into by a waiting Zoro who attacked quickly, “Oni Giri!” Gohan dodged the attack by using an After-Image and flying higher in the air where Zoro and the others couldn’t reach him, “W-what!?” Zoro uttered seeing the Gohan in front of him slowly fade.

“Up here.” Gohan said, with a wave.

“…H-how!?” Zoro asked.

“It’s called The After-Image Technique...” Gohan started explaining using it again to dodge Usopp’s attack. “I move so fast that I leave an After-Image of myself.” He finished suddenly appearing behind Zoro and delivering a chop to the back of his neck and knocking him out before he could turn around.

“Mouton…” Sanji started shouting, but he was interrupted by Gohan vanishing and reappearing in front of him where he hit him in the stomach with his elbow knocking him out.

“Sanji! Zoro!” Luffy shouted before throwing both of his arms back, “Gum-Gum…”

Gohan didn’t let him finish as he fired an energy blast in front of Usopp knocking him back and at the same time threw an air punch at Luffy before he could finish his attack sending him flying into the pool of water nearby. Gohan then appeared behind Usopp who had rolled onto his feet, and where he quickly knocked him out before could turn around and then he jumped in after Luffy to rescue him.

“Ah!” Luffy shouted as he sat up, looking around he saw Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji getting up too.

“Oh, you’re all awake, good.” Gohan said looking at him.

“W-what happened?” Luffy asked.

“We lost, like I said we would.” Usopp said, rubbing his neck.

“W-what really!?” Luffy asked, looking at Zoro and Sanji, who nodded.

“Man, you really pack a punch.” Sanji said, rubbing his stomach.

“Yeah.” Zoro said, rubbing his neck as well.

“Yeah, sorry, I did hold back as much as I could.” Gohan said, scratching the back of his head.

“Y-you were still holding back!” Usopp exclaimed.

“Yeah, you all know what I’ve lived through. If I really wanted to hurt, you guys then you would all still be out cold.” Gohan said.

“R-right.” Usopp said nodding slowly.

“So, Luffy you lost. You know what that means right?” Gohan asked, turning to Luffy who was sitting there looking down at the ground.

“…y-yeah.” Luffy said, nodding slowly, “I need to get stronger to fight you again!”

“W-No Luffy!” Usopp shouted, “It means he’s not joining the crew, we lost.”

“What No!” Luffy said shaking his head, “We need him on the crew, and the only way we can do that is by getting stronger and then beating him.”

“B-but!” Usopp started.

“No Luffy’s right, we need to get stronger!” Zoro said interrupting Usopp.

“Not you too Zoro!” Usopp said, turning towards him.

“Usopp!” Sanji said lighting a cigarette, “They’re right, even if he doesn’t join the crew, we should still train to get stronger.”

“S-Sanji?” Usopp uttered.

“As we continue to sail the seas, we will come across stronger opponents and we need to have the necessary strength to face them because if we don’t then we can all die.” Zoro said.

“I…” Usopp said looking down at the ground, “…but how will we get stronger?”

“By training!” Luffy said, clenching his fist.

“Good answer.” Gohan said with a smile as he saw everyone else slowly nodding their heads in agreement. “And I’ll help you all get stronger as the crew’s Martial Artist…I’m pretty sure that’s a role…right?” he asked looking at Nami, who nodded.”

“Yeah, that was… Kuroobi’s position.” Nami answered, with a frown but she shook her head and smiled back at him.

“W-what!?” Luffy and the others uttered.

“D-does that mean?” Usopp asked.

“Yup, I’m joining the crew.” Gohan said nodding at them.

“Woo-hoo!” Luffy shouted as he jumped into the air.

“B-but we lost the fight.” Usopp said.

“Yeah, but I said that depending on the results I would join the crew, and you guys managed to impress me with how you were able to come up with a pretty good plan on the spot and it would have probably worked on someone else.” Gohan said with a smile. “Which is why I’ll do everything I can to train you all and make you stronger.”

“How will you do that?” Usopp asked.

“Worry about that later Usopp!” Luffy said, interrupting them, “We need to celebrate.”

“Hold on Luffy.” Nami said raising her hand.

“What’s wrong?” Luffy asked.

“We can celebrate later. I need Gohan for something.” Nami said, looking at him, “Don’t forget your promise.”

“I didn’t but I do need to say a few things to everyone before I go with you.” Gohan said looking at her.

“That’s fine.” Nami said.

“Ok.” Gohan said, nodding his head, “Alright, listen up, before we leave the island, I want to have another spar but this time against each of you one on one.”

“Why?” Usopp asked.

“To come up with a training regimen that fits each of your specific fighting style.” Gohan answered, “If we’re going to sail together than I’ll have do everything I can to make you guys strong enough to face anything we may face out on the seas.”

“…Ok.” Luffy and the others said nodding at him.

“Great.” Gohan said smiling at them, “Then I’ll see you all later. Lead the way Nami.”

“Ok, follow me.” Nami said grabbing his arm and leading him away.

“Oh, one more thing.” Gohan said turning around, “I suggest you all get plenty of rest before the spar, because you’ll need it.” He said with a grin as he left with Nami.

“Are you still not going to tell me what this surprise is?” Gohan asked as they walked back to Nami’s house.

“Nope. You’ll just have to wait a little longer.” Nami said, shaking her head with a big grin.

“Can you at least give me a hint?” Gohan asked.

“…no, but I have a strong feeling you’ll like it.” Nami said, with a smile.

“…Ok.” Gohan said looking around the house for any hint of what the surprise was. “Where’s the surprise?”

“You’ll get it soon, but first why don’t you take a shower, you smell a bit.” Nami said, not looking at him.

“I…ok.” Gohan said, shrugging not seeing anything wrong with taking a shower.

“Great, you can use the one in Nojiko’s room, she’s out at the moment. I’ll bring you some fresh towels, before I hop in the shower myself.” Nami said, pointing at a door.

“Ok.” Gohan said, walking to the room.

As he stepped out of the shower, he saw three towels stacked on top of each other on the bed, but he didn’t pay too much attention because of the window that popped up in front of him.

“Can you leave it on the bed, I’m almost done.” Nami answered.

“I…ok” Gohan answered, thinking it was safe because of the running water he heard.

Gohan pushed the door open and saw the bathroom door was partially closed he walked towards the decently sized bed, “I’m leaving it on the bed!” Gohan called out.

“That’s fine.” Someone said followed by the sound of the door closing behind him making him turn around quickly to find a naked Nojiko standing behind him with a smile.

“I…” Gohan started stammering trying to come up with an excuse but stopped when he heard the water turning off behind him.

“Told you my plan would work.” Nami said, making him turn around to see an equally naked and smiling Nami stepping out.

“You were right sis.” Nojiko replied.

“N-Nami…N-Nojiko…I” Gohan stammered, “…I-I’m sorry!” he uttered before forcing himself to stare up at the ceiling, as his face red while feeling his blood rushing down.

“It’s fine Gohan.” Nojiko said, from behind of him.

“Yeah, this is your surprise.” Nami said, from in front him.

“W-what!?” Gohan uttered, quickly managing to stop himself from looking down.

“Yeah, I wanted to thank you for what you’ve done for me and our village.” Nami answered, her voice getting closer.

“I…I didn’t do it for a reward.” Gohan replied doing his best not to look down at her.

“We know and that’s part of the reason we’re doing this.” Nojiko said, suddenly wrapping her arms around him he felt two large, soft, and round objects press into his back.

“I….” Gohan stammered his face crimson, as he did his best to ignore the feeling of softness pressing into him from behind especially the two small hardening points on his back. “W-why?”

“First you helped me get the money needed to buy my island back, second you saved Gen from Arlong, third you did all that without expecting anything in return, and finally we both like you and want to do this.” Nami said, as she hugged him from the front and pressed her chest into his, rendering him speechless.

“…B-but...why me?” Gohan finally managed to stammer out, as he tried to concentrate on anything else besides the feeling of their warm and soft bodies pressed against his, but that was a losing battle, and he knew it. If the tightening he was feeling in his boxers were any indication.

Now if you don’t want to do this then that’s another thing but we hope you don’t reject us because while we will understand we would both be very sad.” Nami said looking into his eyes.

Gohan’s first thought was to deny them but, he remembered what Polycosmos had said to him before he sent him back with the information he gave him. Then there was also the mission he had received moments ago it was almost like the system or Polycosmos was pushing him towards this which he didn’t know how to feel about.

“Gohan are you ok?” Nojiko asked, breaking him out of his thoughts, as she tighten her hug.

“I…I’ve never done anything like this.” Gohan said, with a sigh, deciding that he didn’t like the results of denying the task, especially with the idea of receiving an unknown penalty.

“…don’t worry about that.” Nojiko said, stepping out from behind him and grabbing one of his hands. “I can show you some of what I know.”

“Yeah, and she can teach us together.” Nami said grabbing his other hand, leading him to the bed.

“But first it’s not fair that we’re the only ones not wearing anything.” Nojiko said with a smile, “Sis, let’s help him lose the pants.”

“Alright.” Nami replied with a smile.
