Prologue

“Alex why don’t you go out of the house for a change,” a middle age maid said, opening the curtains of my room.

 “Why would i do that? I have all i need in this house. “

This maid was sent my mother to take care of me since the other maids is too afraid to bother me.

“Don’t have friends huh?”

She’s so annoying though.

“I do, but they’re far away from here.”

They’re inside the fantasy world of my dreams.

“Don’t you have a company to manage?”

All i ever did is predicting the stock market...at home.

“Dad will manage.”

“Also your brother’s son is about to be born.”

No, i don’t like him.

“What does that have to do with me?”

“Don’t you care about your family?”

Yeah of course, but i can just call them.

“I do, i don’t need to show it.”

“Ok then, I’ll be preparing breakfast,” she said, leaving my room.

“Time to play my idle game,” i said, pulling out my mobile phone.

“Damn, I’m a level away from maximizing my DPS for tier 9.”

“Oh well, let’s just buy some gold with the cheat, micro transactions.”

*bzzt* my phone vibrated and a pop up is shown with the name mom.

‘Mom’s calling me?’

“Hello?”

“Hello Mr. Young.”

A deep male voice sounded from the phone, definitely not my mother.

“Who is this?”

‘Maybe mom’s phone was picked up by a stranger.’

“Bring a bag of 2 million dollars to your mother house in 15 minutes.”

*beep* the call ended.

I immediately went up from my bed and rushed into the door with only my red pajamas.

“Who is this bastard to dare blackmail me?”

I went down the stairs of my house and picked up a small sledge hammer in the hidden compartment under the carpet at the bottom of the stairs.

“What’s happening Alex is there trouble?”

“Start the car; we’re going to mother’s house now!”

“Got it,” she said, going to the kitchen.

“Be quick and bring some guns.”

‘I never thought hiding a treasure for my future child would be a good idea.’

Then i swung the hammer to the middle of an’ X’ pattern on this floor.

*Bang* the thin ceramic floor broke.

The floor broke and revealing a duffle bag filled with money.

“Alex let’s go,”

The maid returned with a big bag on her back.

“Where’s the car?”

“It’s just outside.”

We ran outside and went inside a black car just outside the door with the maid driving, because I can’t drive.

The car started to become alive with the maid stepping on the gas pedal making the car go very fast.

“Wait, the fence gate’s not open.”

I can see from afar the metal fence gate of my house.

“Don’t worry Alex it’s not locked.”

‘We’re going to crash.’

We crashed and the car busted the gate open

‘What is this car?’

I counted the time we only have 6 minutes left, thankfully the road to mother’s house is straight with little traffic in the morning and we arrived at mother’s house.

“We’re here,” the maid said, unlocking the car doors

I opened the car door and ran to the fence gate of my parent’s house, throwing the bag with money over it and started climbing it also.

“Be careful Alex those people might be inside with guns.”

‘They’ll kill her if I don’t hurry.”

My parent’s house is a medium house with only one floor with only one door.

“I’m he-“  

I opened the door but...

“Happy birthday Alex.”

Numerous voices sounded throughout the room.

“What?”

“It’s your birthday Alex” the maid said behind me.

“Hah...why did you people do this, I’m too young for this intense setup.”

“Haha that’s because you’re not easily surprised Alex,” a woman came forward and said.

The woman has, black wavy hair, with a lightly tanned skin, a normal mother in her mid-thirties in a red dress.

“Mother did you plan this.”

“No it’s your brother who planned this.”

I don’t like him even more.

“Adam? I’m going to get back at him for this.”

“Oh yeah but let’s celebrate your birthday first Alex,” a man said from my left.

“Adam, what are you up to?”

My twenty four years old brother has black slick hair and pale skin wearing a black tuxedo.

“Come on Alex after you cut your cake, you have to have beer with me.”

“I don’t think i want to.”

The birthday party started, it was very crowded with a lot people that i don’t know, probably my relatives friends.

Adam also forced me to drink alcohol which had me dizzy after one cup

“Haha can’t take it huh,” Adam said.

“I can,” i said, taking the beer bottle from His hand.

I could hear a lot of exclamations around me but my mind was getting blurry.

“Alex...he’s out,” Adam said, laying Alex to the sofa.

“Take him to his old room,” Alex’s mother said.

“Ugh.”

“Come on Alex; let’s go to your room.”

Adam started going to Alex’s room but after he’s inside...

“Boss the replacement is ready, should we take the target away now?”

A man said behind the opened window of the room.

“After the party is over, bring mom over as well, to keep Father Company.”

“Where am i?”

I opened my eyes but its dark and my body’s hurts.

“You’re awake,” I heard a static voice of Adam above me.

“Adam, Where is this?”

“This is a Puzzle room.”

“What? Why?”

“So that you can open this.”

Suddenly the room lights turned on making me blinded for a moment.

“This box, i spent a lot of money and made a lot enemies for this but i can’t open it, but six months ago you opened the outer box revealing this box.”

The box Adam mentioned is black cube like a chest with a slit a the middle of the cube that’s size of two my hands.

“Why am i the only one who can open it?”

 “I don’t know, you just have to open it.”

“What If i don’t?”

“Then our parents will be so sad that their two sons killed them.”

“WHAT? Why are you doing this?”

‘What’s inside the box to make Adam do this.’

“Just open it.”

“OK, I’ll do it.”

I walked on the grey concrete floor to the middle of the room, stopping in front of a grey table as tall as my waist with the black box on top of it.

“I'll try.”

I tried to open it and it opened no problem.

“What’s inside it Alex?”

“Nothing, there’s nothing.”

“Impossible! Get out of the room.”

From behind me a hidden door opened and someone in a black suit pulled me and throwed me inside where my parents are tied up.

“Mom, Dad!”

I went down on my knees and removed the tape on their mouth.

“Alex you didn’t lie, the box is empty so give me the contents.”

I turned around and Adam was there with two other people next to him.

“I don’t have it, the box was empty.”

“If you don’t want to give then you will receive,” he said, tossing the black box inside the room.

“If you change your mind show the item to the camera on this room,” he said, going out of the room.

“Wait, we can talk about this.”

“Don’t bother Alex” he said, slamming the door shut.

“Dad, Mom!”

“Yeah me and your mom is okay but you should first open the box, knowing Adam it should be dangerous.”

I opened the box and saw what’s inside.

“It’s a...bomb!” being suprised, i dropped the box because of my shaking hand

“Calm down Alex.”

“Mom, how are you so calm?”

“How long is the timer?”

“It’s...a minute.”

“Haah, i love you Alex and you too Madylin,” dad said, hugging and kissing mom and me.

“Don’t give up; I’ll try to diffuse it,” I said, pushing the dad away.

“There’s no time, close the box Alex,” mom said.

“But...i love the both of you.”

“We love you too Alex, we’re also proud of you.”

I closed the box and threw it to the camera, breaking the camera.

I hugged mother and father and the next thing i knew, it was dark.

In the road at night time, Adam and his guards is driving on the road.

“Boss is it okay to leave them there? Your brother could have diffused the bomb.”

“Don’t worry; if the bomb didn’t explode then then the other two bombs hidden in the room will explode.”

“Boss you’re cruel”

“It's simple, I just don’t need them anymore.”

*boom* a very loud explosion can be heard from behind them.

“What was that?”

“Look over there boss, what’s that,” the guard said, pointing behind Adam.

“Where?” he said, turning around.

In the distance behind them there is a red pillar of light and the end of the pillar is nowhere to be seen.

“Check the news, is this because of the box?”

‘Dammit Alex you rather die with our parents than giving me that item, i misjudge you.’

The two body guards then went on the internet and found out from the news that similar light pillars appeared all over the world with different colors for each one.

“It’s a chain reaction, is it because of me?”

Suddenly the temperature is rising and the wind started to go wild with the light pillars as the center of it all.

“Quick, get out of here.”

“Yes boss,” the Driver said.

The three successfully escaped the forming tornado but the other people who aren’t prepared were not so successful.

Tornadoes all over the world formed and destroyed everything near them.

The casualties was endless, the survivors few.

But after the world disaster something happened.

The survivors gained a kind of power, like moving objects with their mind, set things on fire, flight and much more.

But with advantages comes disadvantages, Beast also gained these abilities to combat humans, deadly creatures made by the light pillars and more.  

After the pillars stopped moving and the temperature gone back to normal some the survivors formed settlements and started to rebuild the world.

Also some survivors discussed how this disaster happened.

No one can explain how it happened and because of that a rumor started that it was because of god.

Because humans have sinned and gods have rained out punishment and also that these abilities they gained is a gift from god.

Some believed it, some did not.

This world changing event was named ‘The Great Calamity’ and this is the start of a new era.

The Miracle Era.
