Edward the House Keeper was a quiet unassuming person, sure he looked like a punk rocker, he wore the NYC uniform of Black faded Jeans, and a Black Jean jacket with the sleaves cut off and with an added Smiths tee shirt stitched onto the back. He had gone to bed early the night before, as he seldom drank, and even though he talked like a stoner at times, he just didn’t want to put his job at risk, plus it made him feel worse than he often already did. His boss was great, paid well, and never held to gender roles, so he was given the job as House Keeper for the Bed & Breakfast above Pendragons Bar & Grill.

Fortunately on Saturday’s he wasn’t expected until 1pm, so he often left his alarm off to get the extra hour or too on Saturday.

As he woke, at 10 am on Saturday he shook his head in wonder over the insane vivid dreams. He set the coffee machine to on, as he would need his Folgers no cream no sugar, bitter burnt  cheap coffee was it’s own reward, as it reminded him of his pain.

He walked over to the Philco Stereo he had purchased on his first paychek, pulled out the Joy Division Tape and pressed play.

“When Routine bites Hard and ambitions are low….”

He showered, shaved, put the gel in his hair, used the hair dryer to ensure the hair was perfectly messy and had that oily black sheen of his soul.

“But love, love will tear us apart again…”

Once the tape flipped back to side A he hit the stop button, then pressed the eject. And carefully he used a pencil to carefully pull the tape back inside the cassette.

“Ugh” he grunts as he finished. Looking at the tape he wonders if he should actually invest in CDs, knowing his luck he shrugs, there will be other pains with owning CDs, the universe is like that, always out to pain his daily life.

He walks outside to the glaring orb of death, and puts his new Ray Ban sunglasses on. He puts the headphones to his Walkman sport on and listens to Echo and the Bunnymen “Under blue moon I saw you…”

He walks slowly to pendragons annoyed that the city seems extra hostile to his existence. He continues to just walk head hung low, black trench coat over his vest fluttering in the wind, glitter dust flys up coating his hands and face in tiny shards of diamond glitter. This increased Edwards gloom, he paused swapping Bunnyman out for Sisters of Mercy, for in his gloom he needed to express his anger.

“I hear the roar of a big machine

Two worlds and in between

Hot metal and methedrine

I hear empire down

I hear empire down”

He sang as he walked into Pendragons, the boss was not in, John must have also been out, all he heard was the sounds of a machine in the back room, he walked into the Kitchen, clearly Mary had purchased a new machine for the kitchen, he didn’t understand it, so he kept his head down and walked to the employee punchcard reader.

Then he walked upstairs, the day felt gloomier than usual. He walked to the Housekeeping office, Mary was a strange person to Edward, most Janitors would have a cloest just big enough for the supplies and fresh linen, maybe even the washer and dryer. But no Mary had to increase his misery by giving him a nice office, it even had a computer with Prodigy net on it. “Just incase you want to take a break and relax” she had said. He sighed, grabbed his key chain and clip board. Mary said she would keep the rooms open for any too drunk to make it home, so he fully expected the usual puke and other degradations to the room after a drunk part. There were only 12 rooms, in the BnB, but 6 of the rooms were permanently rented to some of the employees, and a few Trans kids who Mary rescued off the street. Technically he was one of the first Rescues. But he didn’t like to think about that, in his mind he had always been a man. And it was his manly right to be depressed about his good fortune. He grabbed his favorite work tape, The Cure- Faith/Carnage Visors good the tape was on Carnage Visors 30 minutes of blessed instrumental perfection.

He went to the first room, well someone slept lightly here, and left. Hardly a mess to clean.  He went to the Second room, drunk guy still sleeping, snoring loudly, geeze, it’s almost 2pm dude.

Finally he got to the 3rd room.

Ugh. A mess, who slept here? Sheets were shreaded, as if a mountain lion or something decided Cotton sheets and wool blankets weren’t good enough. The small in room shower  had dog fur splattered everywhere. And the small wall closet door had a hole punched through.

Edward sighed, he could do this, without thinking he waved his hand and the power of undeath mended the door, he walked to the bed and sheets, and summoned up the healing energies of the dead, as ghostly hands wove the fabrics of the sheets and blankets back together. He walked to the shower pulled out a sponge and put his cleaning gloves on and quickly cleaned the shower. He then made the bed and vacuumed the floor. Once done, he closed the door. Put his cleaning supplies back in their place. Walked down the stairs saw a massive Green man walking in at the same time a Dragon Lady walked in she was pointing at things talking to John, it was obviously John. The Dragon Lady was clearly Mary. Edward Coulson passed out as he realized he just use Cleric Magic.
