"Let's get started everyone. The captain will arrive later, he is busy as I am sure you know. We are in the middle of a siege and I am sure all of you have something better to do but this matter is of great importance. Brill found something on the way back to the village. He understands the situation better than me, so I will let him explain the rest."

Did you really have to tell it that way? Did you have to phrase it into you 'letting' me take control of the situation? Is that what you learned in your little management class? I know asserting your control is important but there is such a thing as talking to your friends!! This is a small village where everyone knows everyone, not a city. You can talk normally, you know.

"I found a small base in the volcanic region when I was on my way back. There are about 30 scouts around their base. I don't know their exact number because the surveillance is tight."
"Thank you for the information, brill. Everyone, this event is once again upon us. For the future of our village, we have to overcome this!"
"Good afternoon, everyone. How is everybody?"

I don't know what they taught you at that school but you look like you are trying to find the right words to say right now. We aren't some motley crew that just assembled a few days ago, we are a village that have lived with this situation for years now. We don't need someone to inspire us right now. Currently, we need someone to organise what we need to do.

He does handle village matters well but I think he is just nervous in front of the crowd. Not to mention the ongoing siege. He will eventually pick up on the village chief's demeanour as time went on. In the meantime, a little hand holding from the village chief is a great help for everyone. This is an adjustment period for the village chief's son and us too after all.

"Everyone has things they need to do, so let's summarise things and get on with our day. Son, if you please."
"Ah, yes, father. Plans have already been made for this scenario, so everyone already knows what to do. For the more specific action that needs to be taken, the captain will explain them. If anything unexpected occurs, the captain will take full control and we will proceed as he instructed. Does everyone understand!"
"Yes!!!" xAll

Exactly! We have already come up with different scenarios that we would encounter. This meeting is mostly to get everyone prepared.

"Sorry I'm late."
"Captain!"
"How is the siege, captain!"
"Is everything going well?"

Looks like things finally settled down at the frontlines.

"The fight is still ongoing but the rest can handle things in the meantime. Things can change in an instant during a battle but a siege won't end in a few days. Though I have time, I want to be there to watch over the new recruits. I'll keep this brief so listen up! First of all, Brill, and Sean!"
"Yes!"
"I'll need you to double check the siege weapons. It is also time to deploy the traps in that area. I'll leave the two of you to pick out a few people to help you do it."

There were initially traps for each side of the village beyond the wall we made but monsters kept triggering them, so we decided to just dismantle them and only deploy it if bandits are on their way. The traps on the side near the main road of the village are always there and are redeployed after every battle.

The traps in the volcanic region get damaged a lot because there are more monsters there, and the heat from the volcano wears them down.

"The others listen to the two of them and we will act as planned. The farmer's family is exempted as we will need you to expand the farmlands. If that is all then dismiss!"
"Yes, Sir!"

The farmland is already allocated from the start. The farmer's family doesn't use the whole field to let the soil rest. They rotate their crops and even rotate their fields. They have this grand schedule of when and where they grow which crops but I don't understand the specifics.

Anyway, they only use a part of the fields since it is more than enough for the village, that's including the crops they sell to the city too.

"Thank you all for coming, and please report to me if you have questions, suggestions, or other thoughts on the current plan."

Good, finally finished, let's start putting together the traps and be done with it. We don't know when the bandits will enact their plan, so we need to start this now.

"Brill, I'll go arrange the people who will help us. I'll leave the mechanisms to you."
"Those bandits seem to be on guard against the beasts of the volcanic region. There might be monsters straying here from time to time because of them. Let's stick with the simple traps this time."
"I see, then I'll contact Priscilla to help out with the pitfalls and extended moat."
"I'll work on the spikes."
"All right, I'll see you tomorrow. I'll go ahead and take the others to prepare the grounds."
"Ok, Take care. Ah, don't forget to collect your letters and packages."
"I'll drop by later, take care too."

We keep the traps simple, so it would cost us less materials and labour. Pitfalls are standard, even if we don't dig that deep of a hole, they do great damage. It deals a great amount of damage when it comes to groups. It disrupts their formation and makes them injure their own teammates.

I add a few spikes here and there then it would increase the chaos it will bring to the bandits.

The most cunning trap devised is the ledge spikes. Priscilla makes these slopes here and there and I add some buried spikes at random here and there. If they calmly traverse the slopes then those spikes can act as a foothold for them but if they get into a stampede then they will hurt themselves.

If they are a good team then they will try to carry their injured with them in retreat, which will slow them down enough for the defence team to deal a good amount of damage to them.

If they aren't then those injured will die as their comrades step on their bodies to frantically escape. Bodies aren't exactly a good foothold, especially those with armour, so the chances that the retreating bandits will hurt themselves and those around them will increase.

No matter which kind of bandits they are, they will fall for our trap!

Our main plan is to create great chaos among those who attack us and send them back with traumas!!

They will spread that among the bandit base and create a new legend about our village.

It will bring more attention to our village but as long as they know what will become of those who are our enemies, then it's a positive outcome for us overall.
