"I'm home" .....

The sound of silence, how musical. Scouting is done so I need to start purchasing kitchen tools and daily necessities. I also need to purchase some steel wire for traps, some farm tools and what else?, nothing else I guess.

After visiting the merchant house I need to visit the butcher to buy my dinner. I could also ask how much I need to pay if I bring in some prey I hunted. It's such a hassle having to rely on someone for this but I feel icky if I had to do it.

I can do it for fish and snakes though. I hear you can eat orcs but I can't even gut a pig so I doubt I could do it to a huge monster of a pig that can walk on two limbs. Argh, I won't worry about that anymore. I can just visit the town once a week to purchase some meat. This should also prevent the villagers from checking to see if I'm still alive out of 'concern'.

For now I need to sleep. I wonder what kind of stuffing they made the mattress from. It's bigger than I thought it is though I did say I wanted a five person bed. Maybe I can ask the carpenters to make it a rocking bed? As expected that would be pushing it though. The bed would turn into a huge cradle, I do want the rocking sensation from the chair but my stomach would turn if I experience that rocking feeling while sleeping.

Morning, to think they even designed the bed so the small window at the east will light up the room at sunrise. They did a good job, this must be the feeling of having the sunrise as your alarm clock.
I should finish up shopping early so I can start planting my trees. I have exactly 134 gold coins left, I hope it will last until my first harvest. Even if it doesn't I can live like the hunters and sell my catch for money.

So this is the merchant house, its very noisy. It's not like a market where vendors promote their wares but its noisy because people are trying to get bargain and discounts. The discussion seem intense, I don't think I could ever copy that. Travelling from town to town to earn money seems appealing to me but this kind of messy and noisy lifestyle doesn't suit me. I have no need for money anyway, I only need the basics, food, shelter and solitude.

This place is very organized and they even positioned the essentials at the far back. Thats smart of them, weapons, potions, herbs, seeds, clothes, toys, confectioneries... wait how do they preserve this during travel? I doubt they bake it themselves. There is only one bakery in the village and they only open once a week, I didn't hear the reason why though.

Never mind, I don't need to hear the reason. I'm not a merchant anyway and bread last longer so the bakery, that only opens once a week, meets my needs.
"Excuse me, how much for the knives, pots, pans, cutleries and dishes you have here?"
"Oh, isn't it the new resident? I thought you already had kitchen supplies. Looks like I was wrong, eh. The whole knife set is 12 gold coins, the assorted pots for 15 gold coins, pans for 5 gold coins, the cutleries and dishes for 50 silver coins. 32 gold coins and 50 silver coins in total, as a special moving in gift how about 30 gold coins?"
"Oh, thank you I'll buy them all. Can I have it delivered to my house?"
"Delivery cost 20 silver, ah I hear you are going to be farming too how about purchasing your tools from me too. If you do, delivery will be for free."
"I'll take the offer, I need a sturdy pickaxe, a rake, pitchfork, some steel wires, rope, axe, shovel, wheelbarrow and hoe please."
"Hahaha, thanks for the big business. Looks like I can celebrate a bit tonight. Total, including the kitchen tools, should come around 75 gold coins, how about it?"
"Ok, Please deliver it to the farm east of the village, the one just past the hero tree."
"Alright, expect the goods to arrive later this afternoon. Don't worry the price might be higher than local goods but the quality is guaranteed. I bought those from the dwarven craftsman in the central flower island."

Center flower island, that is what they call the DMZ that the third hero created to help reconnect the races. That place is not only lawless but also the only place you can go to buy merchandise from other races. The heroes son, who is also the head of the merchants guild, has a base there so human merchants has someone to protect them every time they visit. I hear he inherited the heroes combat prowess while the princess got his magic capacity.

When merchants bring up the central flower island it makes the items they are selling more expensive because of how dangerous the source is but if you consider how their president the hero's son is there it only serves as an excuse to drive up the price. I don't want to waste time bargaining and I probably won't visit the merchants house again so even if they mark me as an easy target that doesn't argue over the price it won't matter to me.

The butcher is another matter though. I will visit it a lot of times so I have to appear friendly and likable to them. I can't have them looking down on me either, though I doubt the villagers her look down on their fellow inhabitants judging by how my interactions with the farmers went.

The butcher also doesn't have a store front. Are all the business stores in this village like this?
*knock* *knock*
"Come around the back entrance."
The back entrance, eh.
"Oh, ain't ya the new guy. el'com el'com, Wat dya want to buy? or dya have a crit'r for us to cut'p?"

It's hard to understand her. It's not so much her accent but her lips are sliced open. It might be an accident from her early years of being a butcher. It's not my business so I won't ask. I don't want to hear the answer either, it would just take up time.

Still, they do have a store front or a store back, just kidding. The display looks nice that a boar, snake, frog, bear, theres a lot choices and the animal's head at the top of the cases is the indication of what type of meat it is. Do villagers buy meat early? There are a lot of empty spots in the display case. Its still early noon but maybe they bought it just before the sun hits high so the meat won't deteriorate so fast. I have to remember it next time.

"How much is it if I want to have my hunt butchered?"
"Not only r ya a farmr ya also a hnter? hahaha wat a talnted newcomer we ave ere. If ya giv us the pelt it cost 10 slver, if ya want the pelt 1 gld. If ya bring a high lveled mnster it will change dependng on the hardnest."
Not a bad price? They must make most of their money from the pelt. I don't need such a thing anyway.
"Okay, I will bring some from time to time. For now can you give me those bear arm meat and a couple of boar chop."
"A'right, a'right, that would be 80 silver."

I guess they price the more popular meats higher, most of the boar and bear meat are gone. The frog is untouched though, I remember when I risked my life to each it raw but NEVER AGAIN will I let such flesh touch my tongue.

Time to go home and start planting preparations, I guess. I have the seeds, I have the magic power necessary, and the tools should already be delivered at this time. How should I divide my farm?
