A large wall of flame appeared downstream of the river blocking me off while at the same time roasting the oncoming group of orcs. It can't be the princess is here? To think her magic prowess would be like this. I need to get out of the river or I would be boiled alive before even getting near that wall of fire.

Like hell I would take that training again. Training someone to talk and behave like some subservient fool because it's the description of a butler written by the past hero. Something is wrong with you people. The princess has a huge mana reserve but has very poor control. She is very temperamental and likes to solve things with brute force. When talks about a rebel faction appeared she was enraged to think someone would challenge her hero father. If the queen didn't hold her back she would have already razed the towns where the supposed rebel live along with every single citizen living there.

Fighting head on is crazy, the head maid is there too. If a butler and a maid were to fight in close combat 10/10 the butler wood lose. The heroes of the past also edited the maid class and made it tremendously stronger, above the butlers. If butlers are shields that protect their masters then a maid is a sword that slices everything. At first glance it might seem a defense vs offense battle but the quality is different. A butler can at best be a metal tower shield with excellent defense but a maid is a magic sword with different properties.  I can't escape, I can't fight, what do I do now?

"Before we start, Who have you been talking to in these past few years, Sebastian?"

"Please don't play dumb, Sebastian. We already know everything we needed to hear. If you have something new to add then don't hesitate to tell us now. Don't make this troublesome for us and waste our time like this. You know how busy a life of  a princess is don't you? Also, we have been getting a bunch of rats in the castle lately. It's really bothersome to have the guards clean up someones mess every time we find a rat. It seems like they wanted to bite this, Princess, my dear brother and mother. Such rabid rats needed to be put through a harsh punishment for retribution."

So someone took advantage of my existence as soon as I leave, huh. A spy is inside the castle and caused a lot of trouble after I left. They shifted the crime on me, the one who got taken in to commemorate the past hero. They're good, I wonder if they want to recruit me. I hate serving others but if they are that good they might see my value and leave me quite a bit more freedom than working for the princess.

Wait, did she say someone wanted to kill the prince and her? Huh, so the nobles aren't after the throne through the princess' hand in marriage?

I'm a naive idiotic fool, I looked at this world like an alternate midieval time if magic is present. If the heroes removed mind magic and secured the common slave issue they will also clean up the succession rights. Both the prince and the princess can inherit the throne, the only way the anti-royal faction could win is if both of them are dead.

The royal family and their forces might be strong but the anti-royal noble groups are many. No matter how strong the princess is in magic, a few assassins can easily sneak in and kill her. The princess is a bomb at best, as long as they stop her before she detonates all will be fine. However, since the prince is there to protect her from those who got close they can never defeat the royal faction.

I doubt she would believe me if I say I'm not the spy. She doesn't even need me alive. Since she thinks I betrayed them she won't trust me enough to be her servant again. Now that I think about it they never mentioned they want me back in service. They only want to interrogate me in giving my so-called contact, so they can wipe them out. I see, that is what they meant by 'we need your wisdom'.

"Oh, getting scared, Sebastian? No matter how much time passes I would forever be your master. Just comply and give us some names so we don't need to waste too much time on this issue."

I ran towards the burning wall and aimed my bow and arrow at the princess. If I threw my throwing knives then that would be the same as saying 'Hey hit me with this' to the head maid. So be content with arrows.

"Suicide!? Head maid, stop him. Don't worry about me the arrows won't even scratch my magic shield."
"Yes, Princess."

This skill only works if you are serving a master. If the one you serve is under attack no matter how small you can activate this to switch places with them. Now the one heading for the burning wall is the princess, the head maid launched an attack and broke the magic shield before she realized what's going on. The Princess will survive the flame, she has some resistance to elements she controls after all.

The bleeding finally stopped, I don't have anymore mana. She cut off my whole right arm. I can't believe this. I'm still in the middle of the forest. The burning wall is starting to die down. The orcs should start coming back to get revenge. Above all, I am still alive.

The head maid is obsessive about the princess. If something concerns the princess she will drop anything and focus full resources available to ensure the princess as the priority. The princess might have suffered a bit of burns from her own inferno wall but thanks to her resistance she wasn't burnt to ashes. The healers and doctor in the kingdom could heal an injury of that level easy. The princess only fainted from the pain and suffered a few burns after all.

I need to get out of here before I lose my consciousness too. I still can't believe she gave me such a parting gift. How am I suppose to live from now on? As planned the safest place I could go to are the mountains where most anti-royal noble households are located. I need to head down south, before that I should head back home and take what I can. No, even if the head maid ordered everyone to escort the princess back that knight captain isn't dumb enough not to keep a few hidden knights and scout behind to continue the pursuit. The head maid won't pay attention to anything but the princess after all so a few missing people won't be noticed.

The forest is too dangerous and too big to traverse through with only one arm. I need to head further west and reach the edge of the forest towards the main roads. I hope I won't run into anymore problems.
