The first thing she always does upon waking up is to nuzzle the cushion. However, as she turns around for a better position to do exactly that, she doesn't feel the soft cushion of hers—well, it would be better to say that she doesn't feel it or the bed. Actually, she feels nothing.

That thought wakes her up.

She immediately realizes she's in a place devoid of light and shit but she doesn't like dark places. She's no scaredy-cat but she can admit the darker the place, the least likely it is to find her there without at least some light. Wait, there is some light. And it is near her.

She tries looking around to see if she can find its source. It doesn't take her long to realize that she's the light source. For some reason, she's glowing.

This would be a perfect moment to freak out. However, before she can do this, a blue panel appears in front of her.

"Welcome to the template system." The panel disappears as soon as she finishes reading the last letter, but then another appears in front of her face. "You've got one minute to decide which world will you go in and in which character will be your new body. There are only three tries you've got to change both. You can save them for later, too."

"What the—"

Another panel appears, this one contains two wheels where on the top of them there are the words 'World' and 'Character' with the word 'Spin' in the center.

There's also a big digital clock that is counting down the minute.

She doesn't know what's going on, but she feels it safe to press the button. Quickly. And it's good she did because it takes 15 seconds for both to stop.

The first words that appear are 'worm' and 'Uranai Baba'.

She knows what Worm is because, even if she hasn't read the novel, she knows about it thanks to fanfics. Safe to say, she's not happy. She takes five seconds to remember that Uranai Baba is the old witch in Dragon Ball Z.

Before she can fall into despair, a small panel appears between the two wheels, saying:

"Do you accept your choices, or would you like another try? (x2)"

She gives a quick glance at the clock, which now says she has 32 seconds left. She selects for another try to spin the wheel.

Fifteen more seconds pass and if she could sweat in this state, she would have done it already. Finally, both wheels stop and what appears are the words: 'MCU' and 'Yukihira Souma'.

"Do you accept your choices, or would you like another try? (x1)"

Well, she doesn't know who this Yukihira Souma is, but she knows enough about the MCU. Also, she has got sixteen seconds left. Enough for one more try, but… is she lucky enough?

Oh, what the hell, Souma looks like a cute name.

Without trying to think twice, she accepts the choice, and another panel appears with the words: "Now you can select a Template. You've got one extra try. And five minutes to choose."

Two tries then… wait, isn't that because of the previous leftover from the world-character thing?

'Do I get new templates as soon as I reach complete synchronization with the previous one?' she asks mentally, after realizing she isn't able to talk aloud.

'Yes.'

'But, I only got those two tries for this time?'

'Yes'

'Is there a way to get one more template?'

'Host needs to gain a flaw to get more templates. For each flaw gained, the host gets one more template. Also, for each flaw, the host can up the tier of the character.'

That doesn't sound too bad? Though...

'Can you explain more about the tiers?'

'10 – normal human, 9 – Superhuman, 8 – Urban, 7 – Nuclear, 6 – Tectonic, 5 –Planetary.'

'… What happened to the 4 to 1 number?'

'Host doesn't have enough clearance for it.'

'What kind of tier would I get if I didn't get the flaw?'

'9 has the highest probability, while 8 has the lowest.'

So superhuman would be the easiest to get and considering how dangerous MCU can be and that the weakest combatant must be superhuman, she will have to get a flaw if she wants to survive until the Snap.

Crap.

No, it's not time to think like that. Better try once and if she gets a shitty one, she can always use the flaw option.

'Spin'

The wheel appears once again. This time just one, full of numbers 9, while a tenth of it is the number 8. There are letters ranging from A to C next to the numbers.

She waits for fifteen agonizing seconds before it stops on the number 8C, which quickly changes to 'Pride–Homunculus (FMAB)', and her trembling light can finally relax.

Ok, not bad… though not enough for the world she's going to go. She remembers pride had the strength of a kid without the shadows and it was difficult to use it when they were no source of light o too much light.

'I want a flaw,' she says quickly in her mind, trying to not think too much about it.

'If the host wants to up another tier, she can choose to select a flaw related to the world their previous template is from.'

… the Previous template? Her template is Pride, and isn't he from Full Metal Alchemist? The world where losing limbs can be considered tame?

Shit.

However, if she played with a wheel full of nines and eights, the next flaw would be eights and sevens, right? If she upped the flaw by selecting one from Full Metal's world, wouldn't it be a wheel full of sevens and, at worst, a couple of six?

Oh, what the hell.

'Spin the wheel with a flaw from Pride's world.'

After a couple of nervous seconds where she can't even see the wheel, the system answers with 'The host has gained the flaw 'Truth: Equivalent exchange'. As she won an eight-tier level template before, plus the specific flaw she chose, the next spin will up to two tiers.'

'… Wait, what? What's with that shady flaw?"

'The system reminds the host that there are only twenty seconds to spin before the choice will be removed.'

Shit.

'Spin,' she says, vaguely noting that instead of nine and eights, there are more 'seven' and a couple of six. She hopes her luck remains even if she doesn't know what her flaw is exactly.
