MINOR NEW!!!

I just recently rewrote The Druuna Chapter Ending because I didn't like how it end that much. If you read the final section of the story then you know why I have to rewrite it. Anyway, you can reread the Druuna ending if you want but overall it was a minor point anyway. So here is the new chapter I hope you enjoy.

Metropolis

Metropolis Public Library

Otto Gallahan POV

It was noon when I arrived at the library, walking through the revolving doors and into the quiet and serene atmosphere of the building. The smell of books and leather filled my nose as I made my way to the receptionist's desk.

While walking through the city, I have also been keeping my telepathy up, scanning my surroundings for any threat. Metropolis was one of the big cities of the DC universe and danger was always lurking around. Especially now that I know Waller has taken an interest in me.

"Excuse me, ma'am. I was wondering if you could help me find some science books," I said, flashing a smile at the receptionist.

(The Librarian LV 6)

The woman had a brief questioning look on her face before she nodded. One scan of her mind tell me that the woman was kind of weirded out by my white asher skin and red eyes. But the woman shrugged it off and began to type on her computer.

"Of course, sir. What specific branch of science are you interested in?" she asked, looking at me curiously.

"Chemistry and biology," I responded, hoping to keep things vague.

The receptionist nodded, typing away at her computer. "Follow me, I'll take you to the appropriate section."

I trailed behind her, keeping an eye on my surroundings as we walked through the rows of bookshelves. I have also been keeping my telepathy up the whole time scanning the minds of those around me for any potential threats or suspicious behavior. So far, everything seemed to be normal, but I knew that things could change in an instant.

"Here we are, sir. The chemistry and biology section," the receptionist said, pointing to a row of shelves filled with thick books.

"Thank you very much," I said, giving her another smile before making my way toward the shelves. I looked through the books, picking out a stack of books that looked most useful for my future plans, before making my way to a reading table in the corner of the section to start studying.

(Psychometry)

With my Psychometry Perks, I started to skim through the books, absorbing the knowledge and information within them. It was fascinating to learn about the intricacies of the human body, the chemical reactions that occur within it, and the complex processes of biology.

Now in my previous life, I have never been much of a guy that is interested in science, choosing to focus on my military training and intelligence work instead. But now, in this new universe, I have a newfound appreciation for the subject. The knowledge and information I gained could be used to create new gadgets, weapons, or even tactics in the future.

I guess I now know what the egghead is going on about.

Using my Psychometry, dozens if not hundreds of books were scanned and absorbed, making me feel saturated with knowledge but at the same time, hungry for more. It was like a never-ending thirst for learning more and more. Not to mention it also Synergizes well with my Meta-Learning Perks and Eidetic Memory Perk.

I was absorbing knowledge at the rate of a supercomputer, and it wasn't long before I had finished going through all of the books I needed for now. With the information I had gathered, I could start planning for my future goals and missions more effectively.

I have learned almost everything there is to learn from the publicly available information from basic scientific principles to advanced techniques and methods, and I was eager to put my newfound knowledge to the test. In terms of the Coluan Intelligence scale, I can now consider myself at least if I have to guess roughly a Level 4 intellect, which is pretty high up there.

Feeling satisfied with my work for the now, I closed the books and stacked them neatly, closing my eyes, taking a deep breath as I let the knowledge I gained settle into my mind. I have come a decent way since I first arrived in this universe, but I knew that I still had a long journey ahead of me.

Thinking back to my own original universe, I sometimes wonder how everything is going back home without me. How my comrade or even my grandfather is doing or how are they reacting to my demise? In a way…I am glad that I don't have a partner that is going to miss me too much or mourn my loss too deeply. It would make it harder for them to move on and continue their life without me.

But enough of the past, I needed to focus on the present and the future. It's finally time I look at the Power Ranking, opening up my [Stats] I then think about the [The Power Ranking], and all of a sudden all of my Stats and numbers are replaced by what looks like a leaderboard of some kind.

I remember the stronger being I ever encounter was Doomsday with a massive LV 510 Followed by Superman who is LV 390, Wonder Woman's LV 323, Hawk woman's LV 299, and finally Supergirl's LV 257, and at the top of the DC universe leaderboard was unsurprising to say at least.

—----------------------------------------

Well…

How in the bloody fuck is Eon expecting me to make it onto the top 5 of the leaderboard…I already knew that it wouldn't be easy, but seeing the level of power that the top beings possessed, it seemed almost impossible. However, I also have a feeling that being the avatar of a powerful Cosmic force is going to make this whole journey a lot more interesting.

All of a sudden my phone buzzed. I lifted the phone, seeing a message from Quintero.

*Headup, I just detected a familiar character walking toward the library where you are…but it is nothing to worry about. It seems like they are just passing by.*

I raised an eyebrow at the message and texted back.

"Who is it?" I typed back quickly.

*It is Kara Zor-El also known as Supergirl sir…and it seems that one Lois Lane just dropped her off.*

Well well well a surprise to be sure but a welcome one. Guess I will prepare the tea then.

——————————

Kara Kent POV

"Thank you for the lift Lois"

"You welcome Kara, are you sure you don't need any help with your study? I mean, I have a lot of experience with science and research myself," Lois said, looking at me with concern written on her face. I smiled, grateful for Lois's offer, but also wanting to prove that I could do fine on my own.

"It's okay, Lois. Thank you for the offer, but I want to challenge myself and see what I can do on my own," I replied, hoping to reassure her.

Lois nodded, understanding. "Okay, well, if you need anything, don't hesitate to call me. And be careful out there, Kara. The city can be dangerous."

"I will, Lois. Don't worry about me," I said, hugging her before stepping out of the car and making my way toward the library.

As I walked toward the entrance, I couldn't help but reminisce about the past. It has been years now since I landed on Earth and was taken in by Kal-El. From witnessing Krypton's destruction To finding out that her baby cousin has grown up without her, to finding my own place on this planet, it has been a roller coaster of emotion for me as the human would say.

Like Rao dammit I was supposed to be there for my little cousin, protecting him, teaching him everything about our race but instead…my stupid pod malfunctioned and I ended up arriving on Earth much later than I should have. But I wasn't going to dwell on the past, as much as it still hurts me.

But once again I was reminded of my inability to protect Kal. About a Week ago, a monster attacked Metropolis. It was rampaging throughout the city decimating everything in its path, Kal and I tried for hours to stop it. Everything we throw at it seems to only make it more angry. Kal made the decision to call in the League but it wasn't enough and as a result, Kal still almost got pummeled to death by it but he wasn't…thanks to that mysterious man with the Ballista.

Suddenly the phone in my pocket buzzed, picking it up gently. I see it was a message from Troia.

*Hey, Kara! Just wanted to check in and see how you're doing. Are you still studying?*

I smiled, feeling grateful for Troia's concern. "Hey, Donna! Yeah, I'm at the library right now, trying to focus more on my studies." I text back.

*Good for you! You're becoming quite the scholar,* Troia replied, and I could practically hear her smile through the message.

"Yeah, well…I want to do my part and get by you know, contribute to society, just like what Kal-El does." I replied, feeling determined to make a positive impact in this world.

*That's the spirit! Oh, and by the way, Starfire and Raven are coming over to the base later. We were thinking of having a movie night. Do you want to come?*

I grinned, feeling excited at the thought of hanging out with my fellow Titans. "That sounds like fun! Count me in."

*Awesome! See you later, Kara.*

"See you later, Donna!" I replied before putting my phone back into my pocket.

I pocketed my phone before making my way into the library, feeling a bit better and relieved that my friends were always there to support me. As I walked, admiring the row of books and skimming through them, it was very primitive compared to the library I saw on Kandor. But it had its own charm and uniqueness that I couldn't help but appreciate.

After a few minutes of browsing, I went to the biology section of the library and started a peruse through the books. But that is when I noticed someone very familiar sitting at a reading table in the corner of the biology section. Thankfully, the man hasn't noticed me, seemingly busy with a book in one of his hands and the other holding what looks like a teacup.

Hiding behind a bookshelf, I then use my enhanced vision to get a better and closer look at the man. The man had white-ashen skin and black hair in a military haircut. The man was handsome in a dangerous kind of way, with chiseled and angular features, a strong jawline, and high cheekbones. His piercing red eyes seemed to glow in the dim light of the library.

This was the man who saved Kal that day. The mysterious man on the Construction tower with the Ballista, who shoots down that monster with the Kryptonite bolt. This was the man who saved her little cousin. The man who gave her the peace sign before disappearing.

"You can come out now, you know?" The man said with an accent that kind of reminds me of John Constantine.

I froze, stunned that the man had noticed me. Slowly, I stepped out from behind the bookshelf, feeling slightly nervous but also curious about him.

"How did you know I was there?" I asked, approaching him cautiously.

The man just simply flashed a small smile, looking at me with those intense red eyes. He then gestures one of his hands to another chair beside the table and another unexpectedly holding out a teapot. "Care for some tea milady?"

I hesitated for a moment, unsure of whether to trust him or not. But there was something about him that seemed trustworthy, despite the air of danger around him. Plus, I didn't want to be rude, and the tea did smell really good.

"Uh, sure. Thank you," I said, taking a seat beside him and reaching for a cup.

He poured the tea for me, and I took a sip, feeling the warmth spread throughout my body. It was a calming and refreshing sensation, and I couldn't help but let out a small sigh of contentment.

"This is really good. What kind of tea is it?" I asked, looking up at him curiously.

"It's a special blend, my grandpa taught me how to make it," the man replied, he then gazed up at the ceiling a brief look of melancholy crossed his feature before shaking his head and focusing back on me.

"So, what brings you to this fine library, milady?"

For a moment I hesitated, unsure of whether to reveal my true purpose for being there or not. But there was something about the man that made me feel like I could trust him.

"I'm studying biology and other sciences. Trying to get a better understanding of how everything works," I said, giving him a small smile.

The man nodded, seeming to understand. "That's smart. Knowledge is power, as they say. I myself have been doing a fair bit of studying as well."

"What are you studying?" I asked, hoping to learn more about him.

"Science, history, philosophy…just trying to broaden my horizons and gain a better understanding of the world," he replied, taking a sip of his own tea.

"Hmm, that's impressive. I'm Kara, by the way. Kara Kent," I said, extending my hand for him to shake.

The man took it, his grip firm and strong. "Nice to meet you, Kara. My name is Bourne…Jason Bourne"

There was something about the way he said his name that made me think it wasn't his true name, but I didn't want to pry. Instead, I asked.

"So have you been here a lot?"

Bourne shrugged. "This is my first time here actually. I just arrived in the city not too long ago and was looking for a quiet place to study."

"I see. Well, it's a great library, and the staff is really helpful," I said, taking another sip of the tea.

Bourne nodded, seeming to appreciate the comment. "It definitely seems that way. So, what do you think of the city so far?"

Hmm…what do I think of the city…now that is an interesting question. Compared to Kandor or Krypton as a whole, it's definitely different, it was less advanced in terms of technology and culture, but at the same time, it was also more vibrant and diverse. There were so many different people and cultures coexisting here, and it was both fascinating and overwhelming.

"Treated me well so far," I replied with a small smile. "It's definitely different from where I come from, but I find it interesting and full of surprises."

Bourne nodded, seeming to understand. "I know what you mean. It can be a bit…chaotic but also full of opportunities but yeah this city definitely has its moments to say at least…"

"How about you?... Where did you come from?"

Bourne hesitated for a moment, seeming to ponder his answer before finally speaking. "I come from England Originally, to explore the city and see Superman…"

The man had a sheepish smile when he said the last part, which made me curious. "You came all the way here just to see Superman?"

Bourne nodded, seeming embarrassed. "I uhh…a bit of a fan of the Man of Steel"

I blinked, surprised by his answer. "You're a fan of Superman?" I asked, feeling a mix of curiosity and amusement.

Bourne nodded, seeming a bit sheepish. "Yeah, I know it sounds silly, but I've always admired him. He's a symbol of hope and justice, and he always tries to do the right thing. He's also incredibly powerful, but he doesn't let that go to his head. He's humble and compassionate, and he cares about people."

I felt a surge of warmth in my chest, hearing him praise my cousin like that. It was rare to find someone who appreciated Kal for who he was, and not just what he could do. Most people either feared him, hated him or idolized him. But Bourne seemed to have a genuine respect and admiration for him.

"That's very nice of you to say," I said, smiling at him. "I'm sure he would appreciate it if he heard you."

Bourne shrugged, looking away. "I doubt he would ever notice me. He's probably too busy saving the world and all that."

I chuckled, feeling a bit of irony in his words. If only he knew that he had already caught Kal's attention when he saved him from that monster. I wondered if I should tell him the truth about who I was, and how I knew Superman personally. But then I decided against it. It might complicate things, and I didn't want to ruin this moment.

"Maybe you'll get a chance to meet him someday," I said instead, hoping to encourage him.

Bourne smiled, looking back at me. "Maybe. That would be cool."

We shared a moment of silence, sipping our tea and looking into each other's eyes. There was something about Bourne that intrigued me. He seemed to have a lot of secrets and mysteries behind his calm and confident demeanor. He also had a certain charm and charisma that drew me in. I felt a connection with him that I couldn't explain.

"So," Bourne said, breaking the silence."Do you need help with your study?"

I looked at him, surprised by his offer. He seemed to be genuinely interested in helping me, and not just making a move on me.

"Uh, sure. That would be nice of you," I said, feeling grateful for his kindness.

Bourne nodded, seeming eager to help. "No problem. I'm happy to share what I know. What are you working on right now?"

I opened one of the books I had picked out, showing him the page I was reading. It was about the immune system, the network of cells and organs that protect the body from infections and diseases.

"I'm trying to understand how the immune system works, and how it responds to different threats," I said, pointing to a diagram of the lymphatic system.

Bourne looked at the book, nodding along. "I see. Well, the immune system is basically your body's defense mechanism. It consists of two main types of cells: white blood cells and lymphocytes. White blood cells are like soldiers that patrol your body and fight off any invaders, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. Lymphocytes are like spies that recognize and remember specific antigens, which are molecules that trigger an immune response."

He then took out a pen and a piece of paper from out of nowhere and started to draw a simple sketch of the immune system, labeling the parts and explaining them to me.

"White blood cells are divided into two categories: phagocytes and granulocytes. Phagocytes are cells that engulf and destroy foreign particles, such as macrophages, monocytes, neutrophils, and dendritic cells. Granulocytes are cells that release chemicals that kill or damage invaders, such as basophils, eosinophils, and mast cells."

He then drew another diagram, showing how lymphocytes are divided into two types: B cells and T cells.

"Lymphocytes are produced in the bone marrow, but they mature in different places. B cells mature in the bone marrow, while T cells mature in the thymus gland. B cells produce antibodies, which are proteins that bind to antigens and mark them for destruction by other immune cells. T cells have different functions depending on their subtype. Helper T cells activate other immune cells by releasing cytokines, which are chemical messengers. Cytotoxic T cells kill infected or abnormal cells by releasing perforins and granzymes, which are enzymes that cause cell death. Regulatory T cells suppress or regulate the immune response to prevent excessive inflammation or autoimmunity."

He looked up at me, smiling warmly. "So you see, the immune system is like a complex army that works together to protect you from harm. It's amazing what your body can do."

I nodded, feeling impressed by his explanation. He made it sound so simple and clear, and I could tell he was passionate about the subject. He also seemed to have a lot of knowledge and experience in this field.

"That's incredible. How do you know all this?" I asked, looking at him with admiration.

Bourne shrugged, looking away. "I've studied a lot of biology in my life. It's one of my interests."

I sensed that there was more to his answer than he was letting on, but I didn't want to push him. Instead, I asked.

"So what do you do for a living? Are you a scientist or a doctor?"

Bourne hesitated for a moment, seeming to search for the right word. "I…a vagabond," he finally said, giving me a wry smile.

"A vagabond?" I repeated, feeling confused. "What does that mean?"

Bourne shrugged, looking a bit sheepish. "It means I don't have a fixed occupation or residence. I travel around the world, doing odd jobs and exploring new places. I like to keep things interesting and unpredictable."

I blinked, surprised by his answer. He sounded like a wanderer, a nomad, a free spirit. He didn't seem to have any ties or commitments to anyone or anything. He lived by his own rules and followed his own path.

"That sounds…exciting," I said, trying to sound polite. "But isn't it also lonely and dangerous?"

Bourne shook his head, looking at me with a hint of amusement. "Not at all. I get by pretty well actually. I meet a lot of interesting people and see a lot of amazing things. I learn something new every day and have fun along the way. And as for danger…well, I can handle myself pretty well in most situations."

He said that last part with a confident smirk, making me wonder what kind of situations he had been in. He seemed to have a lot of skills and abilities that he was hiding from me. I felt a surge of curiosity and a bond forming between us, a connection that went beyond mere friendship.

I felt…drawn to him, attracted by his charisma and mystery. He had a captivating presence that made me feel comfortable and curious at the same time. He was unlike anyone I had ever met before, and I wanted to get…closer to him.

I wondered who he really was, and what he was doing here. I wondered if he had anything to do with the mysterious man who saved Kal from that monster. I wondered if he knew who I really was, and what I could do.

But then all of a sudden, I heard a buzzing noise and saw Bourne picking up his phone. Looking at the phone, Bourne frowned slightly. He then looked up at me, apologetic. "I'm sorry, Kara. I have to go. Something urgent came up."

I felt a pang of disappointment, wishing he could stay longer. But I also understood that he had his own life and responsibilities. "Oh, okay. Well, it was nice meeting you, Bourne."

He smiled, standing up and grabbing his coat. "Likewise, Kara. You're a very smart and charming young lady. I hope to see you again soon."

The man then pulled out a pen and started to scribble on a piece of paper. He handed it to me, looking into my eyes. "Here's my number. Call me anytime you want. Maybe we can hang out sometime or even…if you need my "help" do not hesitate to call me. I'd be happy to assist you in any way I can."

I wondered what he meant by that. What kind of help could he offer me? And why was he so eager to assist me? Did he know something about me that I didn't? Did he have an ulterior motive for being so friendly and helpful?

I looked up at him, trying to read his expression. He was smiling at me, but there was something in his eyes that made me feel uneasy. He seemed to have a lot of secrets and mysteries behind his calm and confident demeanor. He also had a certain charm and charisma that drew me in. I felt a connection with him that I couldn't explain…
