Isla and Sila rushed into the tide of beasts, slashing and stabbing. The wind sword proved an excellent choice for their main weapon. Cutting through the hard exteriors of the monsters with relative ease.

Isla was overjoyed, the increase in strength she and Sila had gotten from Etrida had never had the chance to be tested, but now she had the perfect chance.

She could see the rushing monsters, the soldiers and guardsman maintaining the defence line. She could see the strong warriors and the adventurers rushing into the tide. She could see everything, as if time was moving slower for her.

'What an invigorating feeling' she thought excitedly.

Her arm never stopped swinging, harvesting the lives of monsters wherever she went. Most of the others couldn't see her movements, they only felt a flash pass them, then the monster would be torn apart, blood spraying everywhere.

If the monsters were still sane of mind, perhaps this would be enough to deter them, but under their insanity and fuelled by blood-lust, they became more and more aggressive.

The defence line held by the soldiers was being pushed back bit by bit, but more soldiers piled in from the rear to temporarily stabilise the advance of the monsters.

The screams and roars of human and beast, echoed throughout the city, causing the inhabitants to tremble. They could see the lights being emitted from the magicians on top of the wall, and felt the palpitations from the danger that appeared at the northern gate.

Soon the monsters flooded towards the other gates, where the groups waiting there began to defend. Soon enough the city was being besieged on all sides, the sounds of battle could be heard no matter which direction you faced.

Flying monsters attacked the mages on top of the walls, disrupting the attacks on the beast tide below.

The loss of the destructive spells on the monsters below cause a massive surge of strength for the beast tide, which almost broke the defence line.

Barely holding on outside the northern gate, the soldiers red eyed and murderous, lashed out towards the unceasing tide. The city lord looked towards the mages on the city wall, knowing that they were unable to support the warriors below, he knew this tide may not go so well. He'd never seen such a large number of monsters in any single beast tide before.

He wondered, 'What could have led to this massive a group?'.

However the monsters wouldn't stop to tell him the answer, and seeing as the mages could no longer halt the progress of the tide, he yelled out with his aura, "CLOSE THE GATE!!! RAISE THE DEFENSIVE FORMATION!"

The warriors outside heard the city lords words, many had grown afraid of the endless monsters and began to flee into the city, causing havoc for the already crumbling defense line.

The healers from the church entered the city just before the fleeing warriors. Soldiers guarding the four gates of Arqin heard the city lords yell and began to close the gates. Seemingly abandoning the warriors and soldiers outside. The city lord still attacked the monsters without rest, he had no intention of going inside the city. He had already condemned those outside to death and he couldn't be so shameless, as to flee himself.

The gates were shut under the crying and begging of the fleeing warriors outside, but the soldiers didn't hesitate for even a moment, completely cutting off their chance of escape.

They turned around with fear and hatred directed towards the city lord, who only smiled and said provocatively, "If you want to kill me, you'll have to catch me", before flashing into the tide of monsters.

The mages of the city lord activated the formation, drawn under the city. A transparent shield rose from the ground, and divided the outside of the city from the inside.

The flying monsters could no longer attack the mages that had been protected inside the defensive shield. Although some continued to attack the shield relentlessly, most turned their attention to the warriors that still remained outside.

Regis didn't expect the city lord to be so straightforward. But after a while, he could still understand his actions. However he couldn't help but be angry. Although it was from his own selfishness, he didn't want to die out here. He wanted to go back to his wife. They still had a long life left to stay together. He looked towards the city wall and saw Eris banging on the shield. Seeing her so distraught made his heart ache.

He turned towards the increasingly large tide, corpses had been stomped to paste, the blood had dyed the originally beautiful field red. He watched as more and more of the warriors fell, under the attack of the monsters. Thinking that if he was going to die, he would die showing his bravest side to the woman he loved, he gathered up his energy and rushed into the tide.

Isla and Sila also looked back at the sealed city behind them. Staring at each other with despair, they couldn't help but laugh at the incredulity of the situation.

"Isla came to Sila's side, hugging her in the short interval between attacks. She looked into her sisters eyes and said with full seriousness "Sila. I love you. With all my heart, thank you for waiting for my answer".

Sila gazed lovingly at the person who had been by her side, her entire existence. The most important person in her heart, "Thank you Isla. Thank you for responding to me. Thank you for being willing to love me. No matter what happens today, just know that as your twin, I'll follow you wherever you go."

Isla couldn't help tearing up. A tide of monsters was right in front of them, they were covered in blood belonging to themselves, to monsters. But at that moment they didn't care, they held each other and kissed. A desperate kiss, proving to each other the enormity of their feelings.

When they were done, the two smiled at each other. Not of despair as before, but of assurance. Knowing that they'd be together in death as they were in life. The two of them rushed into the tide with no intention of returning alive.

It seems all of the warriors that remained outside held the same understanding. Instead of dying like a coward, they might as well go out like a hero.

The mages inside were all fighting to open the shield. Many of their loved ones were outside the wall, and they could only watch in horror, crying and banging against the shield, as the warriors charged into the ranks of monsters like lunatics every single one of them had a smile upon their face.
