Chapter 6

The confrontation with Gang Orca wasn’t expected, I didn’t see him coming after Toga at the same time I would. But all good if the end's good. I made sure to not hurt him too much, since I wanted him to continue working his job,

Flying through the sky, I didn’t go home. I went to the other part of the city, opposite my apartment, and led Toga there.

I could sense Toga's curiosity as I led her into the secret hideout, though more than curious she was happy that I was carrying her like a princess.

We finally reached the facility that was well-equipped, with all the resources I could need to carry out my vision, which is an underground bunker located under an old two-story house. I'd invested all my savings into this place, which was why I lived in such a cheap apartment.

Toga wasn’t impressed at first, she thought I lived in this house, but when we walked down the stairs and reached the dungeon-like place, her expression lit up.

“Spicy!”

We walked through the dimly lit corridors, Toga's eyes darted around, taking in every detail. When we were finally in a proper room, walls painted white, and everything else the same, I knew it was time to explain my vision more clearly.

She sat down on a sofa, happily bouncing, as I stood before her, beginning to speak so she could understand the role she would play in our partnership.

"The current hero system is fundamentally flawed," I began, my voice echoing in the vast room. I have already explained the things a little on our way, but now was time to go in-depth. "Society as a whole has become corrupt, and to make things right someone has to strip it down and rebuild it from the ground up. To do that, someone needs to bring down the governments that uphold the system."

Toga hummed, blinking sarcastically. “And who is this someone?”

I didn’t mind her sarcastic question and replied, “Nobody wants to destroy society, the odds are too great. A lot of heroes will have to die in the process, and maybe some civilians too. The dangers are too great for the doers, as well, it’s a hard job. So, it falls upon my shoulder to make things right, and maybe you can help me with it.”

Toga scoffed, chuckling, and clearly not convinced by my words just yet. "You make it sound so easy," she replied sassily. "What makes you think you can actually pull this off? And why should I care enough to join?"

I couldn't blame her for being skeptical. After all, she had no reason to trust me yet. It’s a miracle that she followed me this far, even if I did save her.

"I know it won't be easy," I admitted. "But I've been carefully planning this for a long time. I've gathered intelligence, resources, and made connections. With your skills and mine, we can make a real impact."

Her gaze remained skeptical, but I could sense a hint of hesitation in her eyes, but it quickly dissipated.

"Look, Toga," I continued, "I know you've been treated like an outcast because of your Quirk. But imagine a world where you don't have to hide who you are, where you can openly embrace your true nature without fear of judgment. That’s my goal. To make a world where all the bullshit rules of this society cease to exist."

Unlike before, Toga seemed to consider this for a moment, her expression softening just a little.

"That does sound… tempting," she said slowly. "But what's the catch? There's always a catch. You saved me, too, from such a dangerous situation no less."

I nodded, understanding her concerns.

"The catch is that we'll have to make sacrifices. We'll be putting ourselves at risk, facing powerful enemies, and potentially losing everything. But if we succeed, we'll have the chance to create a world that accepts people like us."

We stood in silence for a moment, the gravity of the decision weighing on both of us. I could see the wheels turning in Toga's mind as she mulled over my proposal. But Iin the end, she scoffed again.

"Why should I trust you?" she finally asked, her voice quiet but firm. "I've been betrayed before, you know."

"I can't give you a foolproof reason to trust me," I admitted. "All I can do is show you that I'm committed to this cause, and that I believe we can achieve great things together. It's up to you to decide if you're willing to take that leap of faith."

Toga stared at me for what felt like an eternity, her eyes searching mine for any signs of deception. I held her gaze, trying to convey my sincerity without words.

Toga stood motionless, her eyes drifting to the floor as she contemplated this man, Mystic Mask's words. There was something about his vision that resonated with her, a promise of a world where she wouldn't have to hide or suppress her true self. But it was a risky path, one that could cost her everything.

In the dimly lit room, she found herself reflecting on her past and the journey that had led her to this moment.

As a villain, she had indulged in her desires, quenching her thirst for blood without restraint. She had revealed in the chaos, the thrill of being a hunted predator in a world that feared and despised her. But was that all there was for her?

The society hated her, deemed her a villain, just because she had a quirk that made her thirst for blood. Just because she was born this way. Was she really in the wrong for what she did? From a young age, people kept telling that she should try to fit herself for the world. But this man…

This masked crusader said they could make the world into a place where it’d fit itself for her. Well, for people like her, but this sounded more romantic in her head.

Deep down, she knew that joining Mystic Mask wouldn't necessarily change her ways. She would still be a killer, a monster in the eyes of society. But this time, it would be different. Instead of preying on civilians, she could be targeting the heroes who upheld the corrupt system that had cast her out. Maybe villains too.

The thought was undeniably enticing, since she will keep getting what she wanted, while ignoring the things that always left a bad taste in her mouth. So she felt a flicker of excitement within her. Moreover, hero blood was much tastier than civilian blood anyway.

As she weighed her options, she couldn't help but wonder if she could truly trust Mystic Mask. She had been betrayed before, left to fend for herself when her so-called allies had abandoned her. Heck, even her location in the warehouse was leaked, that was betrayal too.

She needed some assurance, some proof that this time would be different.

"Take off your mask," she demanded, her voice firm yet hesitant. "If I'm going to join you, I need to know that I can trust you. Show me your face, and let me see the man behind the mask."

Mystic Mask hesitated for a moment, the shadows dancing across his face as he considered her request. Finally, he reached up and removed the mask, revealing his true identity.

Toga's eyes shook, and then they remained locked on his face.

Her lips parted, and her eyes widened, sparkling as if she had just seen something extraordinary. She was captivated by the beauty of his piercing green eyes and the golden blonde hair that framed his face. It was as if she was seeing a new type of jewel for the first time.

The realization that this gorgeous man was the driving force behind Mystic Mask only added to her fascination. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest, a strange mixture of excitement and anxiety flooding her senses.

"My name is Akira Yuji," he said softly, breaking the silence that had settled between them. "You can trust me, Toga."

As he spoke, she found herself becoming more and more entranced by him. Not only was he undeniably attractive, but what the hell was that drawing voice? Now that he wasn’t using his power to fake her voice, she could feel his voice touch her soul.

There was also a certain allure in his conviction, his unwavering belief that they could change the world together. It was an intoxicating combination, one that left her feeling as if she had no choice but to follow him.

Her cheeks flushed, her voice shaky but playful. "So, Akira, do all the girls fall for you like this, or am I just lucky?"

He stared at her, seemingly unfazed by her flirtatious remark. "Focus, Toga. We have a mission ahead of us."

“Aww, no fun.” Toga clicked her tongue, but at the same time, she realized that her decision to join Akira was not solely driven by the prospect of challenging the corrupt system that had oppressed them both.

It was also driven by the magnetic pull she felt towards him, an undeniable attraction that she couldn't quite explain. And, if she was honest with herself, she found the idea of working alongside him irresistible. Maybe she was sick in the head, but she didn’t hate this. He was her hero, after all.

She took a deep breath, her heart racing as she gave a small grin and steeled herself for the journey that lay ahead.

"I'll join you, Akira," she said firmly, her voice filled with determination. "We'll challenge the corruption within society~ and we'll create a world that fits us, not the other way around."

Akira's eyes shone with surprise and soon he nodded in agreement. He showed her a smile that made her heart flutter.

"Yes. Together, we'll make a difference, Toga," he vowed, grabbing her hands, his voice brimming with passion. "I'm glad to have you by my side."

Toga continued blushing, while smiling, as she stared up at his eyes, suddenly ready to change her life. She still didn’t know what was happening entirely, but she sure would give her all to do it.

As Toga and I stood there, our alliance newly forged, the sudden shrill sound of my phone ringing pierced the air.

Startled, I fumbled to retrieve it from my pocket, my fingers trembling slightly from the adrenaline still coursing through my veins. As I glanced down at the screen, I noticed a news notification that instantly seized my attention.

"...Ah. So it happened." I murmured, my voice a mixture of understanding and concern.

Toga hopped beside me, brushing too close to my body to be considered ethical, as she looked at my phone to see the headline too.

[Breaking News: USJ Under Attack, UA Class 1-A Involved.]

We both stared at the screen, watching the Live Broadcast that showed the injured students, and all the villains that were sprawled on the floor behind them. The battle had ended already, and the students were being rescued by a school ambulance.

As we watched the live footage of the chaotic scene, with smoke billowing from the once pristine building, while the cries of the injured and the panicked shouts of first responders filled the air. The reporter, her voice trembling with barely concealed fear, struggled to recount the events as they occurred.

“And Toga,” I turned off the screen and looked at Toga. “While the Heroes are the ones holding the corrupt society, it’s the villains who are corrupting it to begin with. So we will take care of them too.”

Toga covered her mouth with her long sleeves, and giggled. “I am in, whatever you do, I will do it too~”

Just like that, Akira finally found his first mate. He had a long way to go, but he wasn’t stopping. The world would soon return to its primitive times, when life was much better than this shithole.
