Becca 「 Ah, right. Before we forget, wasn’t there an Entity we needed to hunt down? 」

Carl 「 Right! We need to get revenge for David! 」

Maeve 「 Is it this thing? 」

Maeve waves her hand and telepathically grabs something deep in the woods. It turns out to be a gigantic creature covered in a thick fog like miasma. It’s hard to make out what sort of species it is, so I guess they just refer to these things as Entities.

Ralph 「 A Shadow! Is… is it dead? 」

Maeve 「 I killed it on the way here. 」

Carl 「 You killed it already!? 」

Becca 「 Oh, I guess the job is done here. Looks like I’m not needed anymore. A shame. 」

The boys stare mouths open at Maeve and beads of sweat can be seen trickling down. I turn to leave but Maeve blocks my path. She has a devious smile on her face.

Maeve 「 Not so fast. Becca, was it? I have a teensy question. That thing you did to me, that wasn’t a cultivation technique was it? 」

I’m busted.

Maeve 「 I felt traces of magic, and I can smell it coming from you. There’s also a scent like me, an esper. You’re not part of the Cultivator society, are you? 」

Principal Gorden 「 Magic and psychic powers? That can’t be. The major warrior societies generally don’t cooperate with each other. Plus, it’s unheard of that someone can practice different methods of fighting. 」

The rest of them look at me like looking at a mysterious existence. It seems here on Earth you generally practice magic, ESP, or cultivation, not all of the above. I guess it seems too suspicious to keep up the facade.

Becca 「 Yeah, I’m actually not part of any secret societies. Oopsies. 」

Principal Gorden 「 You’re not part of the unseen world? But you have all that power, how could you go unnoticed by the higher ups? If you’re not affiliated with the secret societies, is it possible? Are you one of the Vile Brotherhood? 」

Becca 「 Don’t throw out terms I don’t get. What brotherhood? I’m a single child. 」

Ralph 「 Principal, I thought that our Bleak Moon society kept tabs on all the active members of the Brotherhood. Wouldn’t we have heard of someone who could use multiple disciplines? 」

Carl 「 What the heck is this girl? 」

Yep, this is a pain now. Alright, I’m just gonna jet.

Becca 「 Don’t overthink it, okay? I’m a hero, like I said. That’s it. Anyways, I’m out of here. 」

Before they can probe me with more annoying questions I warp out of there and return home to the apartment complex. The girls gather around me and welcome me but the words get stuck in their throats. I turn my attention to what they’re gawking at behind me and see a dazed Maeve.

Right, I forgot that she was part of my party. I guess the spell dragged her with me when I teleported. It’s probably too late to send her back.

Becca 「 Uh, girls, this is Maeve, she’s a frenemy, or I guess you could say a zealous rival? 」

I hear Maeve mutter to herself about Warp magic, apparently she is astonished that I activated it so easily without any magic circles or signs of energy. I designed my space magic to be convenient after all.

It’s also a good idea to put the rest of the girls into my party so Maeve can’t try to kill them. Done.

Maeve regains her senses and introduces herself.

Maeve 「 Hello all! I’m the cute esper Maeve! I love long walks, flowers, and turning my enemies into bloody pulps! Don’t worry, the details get censored so the rating is still for all ages. 」
