As the story goes, Lord Trisvern ruled over the surrounding area with Wyverns under his control. Formast defeated him and freed the Wyverns. In the aftermath, the village of Wahlburg kidnapped a baby Wyvern to be a cash cow. The baby’s father came to the village on a rampage so Formast had to take it down.

He took the corpse so the village couldn’t exploit it. Disgusted with the greed of the village, the hero left.

Now that I notice it, the people of this village seem to be on the heavier side and topped with accessories and beauty products. The people don’t seem as impoverished or starved as they should be without a lord around to pay wages. A village is usually self-sufficient with little to trade, but they have a bunch of stuff that doesn’t qualify as bare essentials. Stuff like bronze farming tools, golden door hinges, leather boots, excessive wealth squared away secretly.

That would explain why Formast doesn’t live here and why there was that cottage with the chained up Wyvern. That place must have been the prison where they held him since he was a baby, pruning his skin and nails every now and then to sell for easy profits. That also explains why I found human traces at the nest site as they came and went.

As it turns out this whole curse of Lord Trisvern was bogus. They kidnapped a baby Wyvern and Wyvern came back to free him. The attacks on the village were well deserved.

Speaking of the child, it should be arriving at the village any minute now after flying away and recovering.

Becca So not to alarm anyone, but I saw a Wyvern breaking out of a cottage and it’s headed to the village.

I announce to the village which gets their attention. They look around and at each other in understanding and gloom.

Why didn’t you say anything earlier?!

BeccaWell it clearly came from a human abode so I thought it was just someone’s lovely pet.

Oh no, did it get loose? But that guy told us it could never escape, not in a thousand years!

That guy? Must be whoever supplied the void meteorite chains that could hold a huge Wyvern captive for so long. Let’s make a mental note about that for later.

Brigid Never fear, village of Wahlburg. For I, Brigid, descendant of Hero Formast, will save you!

Hey that’s right, she can save us. Please save us, my fair lady!

Lady Brigid! You promised me last night you would always keep me safe! Please help us!

Man this village sure changes its tune real quick. Weren’t they trying to drive her away?

The deafening roar of a Wyvern shakes the foundation of the houses. The freed Wyvern is here and he sounds plenty furious. I would too if people got fat and rich off of my dead skin cells.

The appearance of a Wyvern a size smaller than the Wyvern Lord shows up beating wings and sparks flying from its breath. Its eyes are bloodshot and strength seems to have returned to its previously lifeless form. It eyes Brigid and a look of frenzy shows up as it growls.

That appearance, just like the one who killed father!

The Wyvern child recognizes the descendant of Formast who defeated the rampaging Wyvern and seems to think it is his father’s killer. This is weird.

We have a father Wyvern looking for his son, and a grown Wyvern who’s father was killed decades ago. It feels like there’s a connection here or that the answer is so simple, but I’m not seeing it. If I had to say, the father survived somehow? But this Wyvern seems pretty sure that his father died. Then what’s going on?

While this is stewing in my head the Wyvern begins assaulting Brigid and the village, flames burning and ash spreading. Envie and Cheshyr help contain the fires while the girls escort the villagers to a safe distance. The trio of Pip the golem, Mu the slime, and Fu the wolf are helping out carrying small children and leading the elders.

The fight is pretty one-sided since the Wyvern is still weak from its captivity. But the Wyvern uses its aerial advantage to stay out of reach while it bombards the village. This is going nowhere until Brigid grabs a laundry hanging pole and pole vaults up into the air. I give it a 10/10 for style.

Brigid lands on the Wyverns back and begins beating it down with her protected knuckles. The Wyvern stumbles when Brigid wrangles a rope around its head and makes it nosedive into the ground.

The fight ends in a dramatic fashion but it’s not over yet. Like on cue I see a blip on the Map approaching and a mighty familiar roar descends with a flurry of wind. The father Wyvern has descended to the battlefield.
