Good evening or morning, or maybe you’re getting ready to sleep? Doesn’t matter.

Hello, it’s Becca here. I’ve been quite busy haven’t I? I got to meet a Dragon God and gained a new party member. Brigid goes through the motions of being surprised at my powers, awed, and eventually numbed to the countless things I have to show. By the time I bring her to my world she’s like a dried husk incapable of showing any further shock.

It was funny to watch her reaction when I brought her to Earth and introduced her to the net. For obvious reasons I also instructed her how to use incognito mode. Needless to say, I had to soundproof her room soon and get her some headphones and a lock. I imagine it will be a while until we see her again. If I need to I could setup an online shipping account complete with discreet boxes.

Now that I have a chance for a breather, I thought I would go on a bit of a stroll through Earth. I mean, I’ve been adventuring in a fantasy world with monsters and all kinds of fights, so a change of scenery is necessary, right? It’s hard to get it.

After being away from Earth I’ve been itching to let loose here. I mean, if you had awesome powers, wouldn’t you want to use them back home? The thing is, it won’t be easy to live in peace if I start acting like a hero in broad daylight. I want some recognition, but I don’t want to be disturbed all the time.

I could also go the route of being all generous and throwing around money and solving all kinds of problems, but I just don’t have the capital for that or the paperwork to prove where it came from. I can’t just write magic down or gambling.

Where did this itch come from, you ask? Well actually, since I’ve had nothing to do these days on Earth, I’ve been helping out one miss Julia Mitchel, the prosecutor who helped out the girls at the bakery when a scummy scammer had his eyes on them.

Ever since then I’ve been helping her out in her cases, mostly criminal ones that she needed key evidence or details out of her reach. Those things weren’t out of my reach with my all-seeing Clairvoyance, combined with invisibility illusion magic and it’s a piece of cake for me to act as drones to spy on any key targets.

Her reputation has been changing into a demonic prosecutor that gets justice with 100% victory. Her enemies have no idea how she keeps getting important intel and evidence that seems to magically end up in her hands.

In return she’s been giving me legal advice and watching out for the girls whenever possible. It also seems that she’s a frequent customer of the bakery, as she discovered that the girls who work there have all slowly morphed into beauties. Rumors say that something in the bread can help with skincare and has beautifying effects. It’s almost scary how effective that lucky charm I enchanted and left in the store is in doing all of this.

It feels good helping out a modern hero in the courtroom, but it sucks that I don’t any credit for it. That’s why I’ve been thinking of what I can do to aid others and stand out without attracting trouble.

After all is said and done, that brings me to the present. Currently I am sitting at a table in the bakery and consulting Julia. Although I haven’t revealed my powers to her, she probably knows that I have some serious skills or background.

Becca 「 So Julia, what do you think I can do? I’m not asking for any world-ending issues that I can deal with, just something small and local to start. Something to get me into the morning papers. 」

Julia 「 Please, just refer to me as Miss Mitchel when we’re in a public place like this. It’s more formal, and I don’t want others poking around in our relationship. Remember, you’re like my secret weapon in the court. 」

Becca 「 I know that, I know. But, Prosecutor Mitchel, you must have some ideas for me. I have no problems solving issues with raw force, but that just doesn’t apply to current society. Plus it draws attention to not only me but my businesses as well. And there’s that thing called the law to be careful of. 」

Julia pushes up her glasses and adopts a thinking pose.

Julia 「 I don’t know why you want to play the modern day hero, but I have such an idea. 」

Becca 「 Hit me with it. 」

Julia 「 I have a close friend in the police district. She’s been having a headache dealing with recent events. That might be the best place to start looking. Just try not to make more trouble for her, okay? 」

I guess I could extend my services to the law enforcers.

And so, at a later date, Julia set up a meeting with her friend, a detective named Raina Geritz. She’s like a blonde bombshell mixed with a gritty 90s detective drama. She has a tiny scar above her eyebrow that is hidden by a glaring piercing.

Raina 「 So you’re Julie’s little helper. Heard about you. I could use some unconventional help right about now so I hope you’re up for it. 」

Becca 「 Ready as I’ll ever be. Just tell me what I need to do. I have my ways so no worries. 」

Raina 「 Good. As for your assignment, what do you feel about… going back to school? 」

Becca 「 School? 」

Raina 「 To be precise, your old school. Well, the sister school. 」

Becca 「 When you say sister school, you mean that fancy prep school? 」

Before I went out on adventures in another world, I was just an ordinary school student that was raised by an orphanage. We weren’t poor and I had all the same opportunities as regular children. For some reason I didn’t mesh well with the others so I just focused on my business and tuned everything out.

I was pretty well behaved as the days endlessly passed, but I didn’t have anything to focus on or ground me. Nothing to hold me back.

After being brought to another world I’ve since left the place saying something like I found a better opportunity. At the same time I went to my school and told my counselor I was dropping out to pursue my dreams. I left while she was rendered speechless.

Now after everything it seems that I’ll be revisiting the education environment and normal life that I left behind.
