Chapter 230: Als Nova (End)

Translator: Subak

Editor: DearestKafka

Death meant the end, and as such, it was a natural innate desire for one to not leave behind any regrets before breathing their last.

However, Bae Sungmin wasn’t a normal lich. Even now, he was still experiencing several changes after having become a lich.

It wasn’t just Bae Sungmin, in fact all the surrounding undead were experiencing that very change.

The undead beings Muyoung made were that special and Bae Sungmin was particularly more unique among all of his creations.

Bae Sungmin glanced at Bae Suzy once more. He felt weak. He didn’t know why but he wanted to put his hand on her cheeks and tell her that it was okay.

Bae Sungmin didn’t know what was this emotion. He only knew that he had to bring her with him to not have any regrets.

“A lich is talking about regrets? How funny.”

Boom!

Enroth slammed down his staff.

Tentacles and shadows surged up. Those things moved to twine round Bae Sungmin.

Bae Sungmin made his magic power explode. To the point that it wouldn’t be surprising for his body to get destroyed.

His magic power surpassed 700 in an instant.

“Magic power that reaches transcendence! But how long will you be able to endure?”

Even Enroth got nervous. At least for this instant, Bae Sungmin was comparable to Enroth.

The problem was time.

Right, Bae Sungmin was not going to be able to maintain that state for a long duration.

At most 3 minutes. If he overdid it then his entire body would collapse.

 “It’s enough. Amadeus.”

The ceremony to summon a witch.

Originally, he used the head of a hydra as an offering but he didn’t need to do that now.

Overflowing magic powers!

This was a much better offering than a head of a hydra.

Kyaaaaaaaak!

The body of the witch Beatrice became smaller than before after she came out of the ‘door’ but a dark aura was swirling around her body.

She eliminated the shadows and tentacles at an incredible speed and played her role really well.

Meanwhile Bae Sungmin finished preparing another magic.

The strengthened Beatrice destroyed and broke everything, but it was unknown how long she was able to hold out with Enroth as her opponent. Enroth was evaluated to be the strongest demon king so they couldn’t dare to think optimistically.

 “How insignificant.”

Enroth swung his staff once again.

Ziing! Ziiiing! Ziiiiiiing!

A pentagram was drawn in the air and followed by that, shadow archers started to appear. The arrows of the shadow archers returned everything to darkness. It could curse exterminate everything it touched.

300 of those shadow archers appeared.

They stuck to the floor, air or walls and fired arrows endlessly.

Kyaaaak!

Not even the fast Beatrice was able to dodge all those arrows.

But a few hits wasn’t enough. Beatrice destroyed even the shadow archers and headed towards Enroth.

 “Doom knight.”

In the meantime.

The remnants of the broken shadow archers gathered to form the shape of a huge knight.

Doom knight!

A being that was a level above a death knight!

The final form of undead knights that was only heard in legends.

Clash!

The claws of Beatrice and the sword of the Doom knight clashed.

But Beatrice’s body was the only one that increased in wounds.

There’s a legend that the Doom knight was made after a great hero of the past got turned into an undead or it was a non-existent creation that was born in those ‘legends’.

However, its power was so great it could even slay dragons.

The Monarch of Death commanded a few battalions of Doom Knights but there was no saying that Enroth could not control a Doom Knight.

Bae Sungmin held his silence.

The strongest force he could summon right now was the current Beatrice.

But Enroth’ summon was strong enough to push back that Beatrice.

On top of that, Enroth’ specialty wasn’t summoning.

 “My magic doesn’t have limits.”

Enroth drew a circle and soon countless eyes appeared everywhere.

 ‘Eyes of death.’

It was a strong spell of the curse class. A magic that weakened everything of the opponent that looked at it.

But Bae Sungmin also managed to finish a spell.

 ‘Abyss.’

The opening of hell.

All the doors Bae Sungmin possessed opened and huge monsters started to appear. The surrounding terrain also changed and undead started to appear from under the ground.

It was the only ‘reality marble’ magic that Bae Sungmin could use.

Enroth faced the enemies that surged up endlessly and put a slightly surprised look.

He thought that he had seen everything but for the lich to have hidden a spell like this one!

But there was no bewilderment or fear in his face. It was only interest.

 “How unfortunate, really unfortunate.”

Enroth mumbled.

You could say that the growth potential of a lich that knew how to use a reality marble was unlimited. However, the existence behind the lich disturbed him.

He had to unavoidably eliminate the lich with his own hands so of course it was going to be unfortunate.

Enroth swung his staff widely.

Swoosh! Swooosh!

When he swung it like a sword, the hand of a huge beast appeared in the air and tore apart the barrier.

“Every magic in front of me becomes useless.”

The barrier of Abyss broke in an instant.

Bae Sungmin gritted his teeth.

An opponent that Beatrice and not even Abyss works on!

This was the first time he faced an opponent so strong. Enroth was certainly one of the strongest magicians facing against other magicians.

 ‘The remaining cards...’

He calculated all the cards he had available. He thought out the probabilities of winning that he had.

It was incredibly low. Thinking about winning with Enroth as his opponent was absurd by itself.

 ‘I’m not thinking of winning.’

He thought of his original purpose.

Rescuing Bae Suzy.

Bae Sungmin’s bones swelled up and reduced repeatedly. It was because the overflowing surge of magic power was giving his body a negative impact.

If he kept like this, he would perish.

It was self destruction.

Bae Sungmin looked at Bae Suzy once again.

And gave a secret order to Beatrice.

Kyaaaaaak!

Beatrice started to shed tears of blood and started to go mad.

A berserker. Beatrice also started to go rampage like Bae Sungmin.

The Doom Knight started to get pushed back a little mid and Bae Sungmin stuck his staff on the ground while Enroth was trying to conjure some spell.

All the magic power gathered at the tip of his staff.

 “Don’t tell me...!”

Enroth realized what Bae Sungmin was trying to do.

Self destruction!

Nothing would remain at the surroundings if that much magical power exploded at once.

But Bae Sungmin was controlling even that.

He set up a range for the explosion and gathered enough magic power to only take out Enroth with him.

The ability to control magic that was out of bounds.

 “Useless!”

Enroth lowered his posture and hit the ground with his staff one more time.

Something black flowed out and covered Enroth’ body.

Meanwhile Beatrice took Bae Suzy.

She fell down the castle while holding her with her mouth.

“Did you say that no spell works on you? Then try to stop this.”

Bae Sungmin raised his staff.

And then fired it towards Enroth.

A magic bomb that contained unimaginable levels of magic power clashed with Enroth and let out a giant explosion.

Boooooooom!

Muyoung raised his head.

A beast was falling down the castle and an incredible explosion of magic engulfed the castle.

 “Bae Sungmin...”

Muyoung frowned.

The beast got in front of Muyoung while holding Bae Suzy with its mouth. The castle also exploded and was falling down rapidly.

 ‘So he self destructed.’

He gathered all magical power to one point and exploded it.

But the reason he only destroyed the castle was thanks to his outstanding skills.

If Bae Sungmin ran wild and self destructed without any measures then the explosion would have also reached the territory.

But what Bae Sungmin self destructed was merely a ‘shell’.

All liches kept their ‘life vessels’ apart.

Not even Muyoung knew where that was but he could revive Bae Sungmin as long as he found that life vessel.

The problem was...

 “Enroth.”

The battle was coming to an end.

The demons got weakened as Muyoung appeared. Muyoung’s power after obtaining his half divinity wasn’t something normal demons could do something about.

But Muyoung raised his head.

Enroth.

He was floating in the air while having become a mess.

“A mere lich dares to! A mere lich!”

Maybe it was because he suffered an unexpected blow.

Enroth, that was said to be the strongest demon king, was quite agitated.

Enroth swung his staff and then, black flames started to pour down from the sky like rain.

“I am Enroth! No one is able to defeat me!”

Even if they pretend to be calm, a devil was still a devil. Their temperament when they got agitated or excited was pretty much alike.

Muyoung looked at the black flames falling down from the sky.

They fell down in a wide spread area. It seemed like it was trying to wipe down everything and everyone.

But that flame seemed to be disgusting to eat.

So Muyoung said.

“He has always been at that place.”

One of the three chants Muyoung saw in Als Nova.

All the flames disappeared the moment those words came out of his mouth.

So cleanly as if it didn’t exist in the first place.

“Canceller...! But how did he do it in that scale?”

Enroth got horrified.

There were many methods to nullify spells but all of them were small ranged. It wasn’t able to nullify a range this wide.

Muyoung spread his wings.

Then kicked the ground and flew in front of Enroth in an instant.

Enroth’ eyes shook.

The existence that was in the ‘beyond’. He was standing right in front of him. He was sure of that.

“So it was you. It was you!”

He could feel a divinity.

The divinity wasn’t comparable to a demon god’s but it also couldn’t be compared to a demon king’s.

A difference in levels.

He couldn’t be one of the four transcendent beings that are said to exist.

Just where did such a monster come from?

“But I am Enroth. The true demon king that drives countless death and despair!”

Crack! Crack! Cracklee!

Lightning struck, and black lightning hit Muyoung.

But...It tickled.

Enroth had lost half of his magic power. He had used his magic power to protect himself from Bae Sungmin’s self destruction.

It would have been difficult even if he was in his peak condition, but he couldn’t inflict damage to Muyoung with half of his magic power.

Luciferre’s power was veracity incarnate. It had a tendency to ignore beings weaker than it.

Not only that.

The skin of the immortal was really sturdy and could eliminate a fair number of spells.

So you could say that ‘spells’ were useless in front of Muyoung. He was a natural enemy of magicians.

 “Not yet!”

Enroth struggled.

A black hand and tentacles covered Muyoung but it couldn’t touch him.

This was the power of Gabriel.

The power to not decay. That power got maximized and wouldn’t permit such negative things to reach him easily.

All his cards didn’t work.

Enroth flinched.

“What the hell are you! Just...how can such person that has all this power exist!”

Enroth also kind of grasped Muyoung but what remained was only despair.

The several powers dwelling inside of Muyoung. They weren’t things one being could have it all.

Muyoung ignored all the spells Enroth used.

As if he had invulnerability towards it.

Enroth stepped back the moment Muyoung approached him.

And then Enroth hid himself in a black sphere. He had spread a black sphere that even stopped Bae Sungmin’s self destruction.

A horn grew from Muyoung’s forehead.

Shiiing!

He flew 64 times faster and slashed the black sphere.

Crack!

The sound it made when it broke was different. A power that was concentrated at one point wasn’t something a mere barrier could block.

 “Just how...!”

Split!

Both of his wings fell down.

“It can’t be like this. How can this happen! To a guy I don’t even know the identity of...!”

 “You are the beginning.”

Enroth’ body started to break down. He realized that he couldn’t win against this opponent as a magician and was trying to erase his body.

Maybe it was because he thought that Muyoung learned a high-level undead magic.

It seemed like he couldn’t think of the humiliation turning into an undead would bring him just like Shar-Shazar thought.

But...

“He has always been at that place.”

A chant of Als Nova

And this prayer nullified everything.

Although it wasn’t able to recover his body, it had the effect of cancelling a spell.

Enroth’ self destruction stopped.

Enroth was shocked.

But he couldn’t even scream this time. It was because of his surprise. He had never thought that Muyoung would be able to stop his self destruction. He could never imagine it.

Muyoung smirked and said.

“You will become an undead. Become my sword and strike the demon gods.”

Enroth shook.

And then Muyoung extended his hand.

Chapter 231: What are you going to give me (1)

It was a bright day.

Muyoung was lying down like a corpse.

He memorized the four chants to see his limits even though two times was the limit.

The result of that was that he couldn’t lift a finger but his consciousness was as clear as day.

Als Nova is a power that handles circulation.

Thanks to that he obtained a lot of information.

That he could control his circulation with Als Nova. That circulation was a power of gods and the more he used it the closer it would change him into a true god.

Nothing will be impossible if he got to handle this power freely.

But getting closer to becoming a god was the same as killing himself. Forgetting all the disgrace and emotions, and residing in his consciousness was what a god was.

And so, Muyoung wasn’t thinking of becoming a god at all. That’s why he had to maintain balance.

Balance. He could accomplish that through increasing his demonic powers.

Through devouring a demon god and keeping in that power inside him.

The only thing that can tip the scales with a god is another god.

7 days passed before Muyoung could stand up from his bed.

 “Pa!“

The first one that approached him was Snow.

The woman that was previously a maiden but now had the consciousness of a child because of having gone through several hardships. She followed Muyoung a lot and also possessed the power to devour ‘dragons’.

Next to her was also the High Elf Ain.

 “So you woke up.“

“Do you have some business with me?“

“No. Only that Snow wanted to keep by your side...“

Muyoung shrugged his shoulders and stood up.

Snow was burying her face on Muyoung’s side while grinning.

Muyoung wiped off the place he was lying on and stood up.

He could feel everything moving near him.

It seemed like everyone was busy after the war ended, claiming back their territory.

Ain asked as she had her doubts on why Muyoung wasn’t asking anything.

 “Aren’t you curious?”

 “About what?”

“You woke up in 7 days. Aren’t you curious about the situation in your territory, etc?”

 “I know it. And also...”

Muyoung took off the white gown that he was wearing.

Ain turned her head but he didn’t mind and continued changing into his armour.

And said.

I believe in you.

 “Pa!”

Snow tried to get on top of him but Muyoung grabbed the back of Snow’s neck.

And then threw her into the bed.

Snow laughed as if it was fun but Muyoung ignored her and left the room.

After that Muyoung turned his head.

 “Tacan.”

Tacan was on stand by in front of the door from some days ago.

He was holding a piece of cloth that contained something.

As soon as Muyoung got out, Tacan untied the cloth.

“I got its life vessel. If it’s you, you should be able to restore it.”

A marble with violet light circling around that was the size of a head.

This was a ‘Life Vessel’.

The object where the lich kept its life power.

Bae Sungmin’s life was inside this marble.

A lich doesn’t die unless a Life Vessel disappears.

However, it won’t be able to resurrect as its physical body has been completely destroyed.

“Bae Sungmin is an elder lich. I can’t resurrect him with normal ingredients.”

“State what you need. I will get them.”

Muyoung looked at Tacan as if it was unexpected.

Were they always this close?

Well, the two of them have gone through a lot of things together. It seems like they got close in that process.

But it was still good. Muyoung told him the simplest answer.

 “It’s your bone.”

 “My bone.......?”

Tacan flinched for a moment for the creepy words. It was his own bones that were able to resurrect Bae Sungmin.

But there was a reason why it had to be Tacan’s bones.

“Your ‘bones’ have lots of similarities. Aside that, the death of the monarch is also fine as he is the only other elder lich.”

The strongest four beings excluding the demon gods.

One of them was the monarch of death. The monarch of death was also an elder lich like Bae Sungmin so it would be easy to resurrect him by using his body.

But that was an impossible thing.

It was impossible with Tacan alone and if Muyoung wanted to go to that place, his plans would go astray.

‘I have to go meet Gremory.’

The Demon God Gremory!

She had asked Muyoung to gather three Fragments of Fissure. And Muyoung did so.

It was because there were three Fragments of Fissure in the staff Enroth used.

And so, the fragments Muyoung had were 4.

It was time to jump in the battle of the demon gods.

The devil Amon would have realized the misfortune Enroth suffered by now anyways. So now, it was a matter of time. If he delayed anymore, he would be the one to suffer.

Tacan clenched his fists and nodded.

“Fine. Take my bones...and resurrect him.

“If you do that, it will take quite a while to regenerate.”

 “It doesn’t matter.”

Tacan’s bones could regenerate.

The problem was that it took a long time to regenerate when a big amount of bones were taken at once.

But Tacan didn’t mind that.

 “Follow me.”

Tacan followed Muyoung while holding Bae Sungmin’s liffe vessel as Muyoung turned back and started to walk.

A shady and deep underground.

Muyoung started with his work immediately.

Restoring Bae Sungmin’s body wasn’t that hard if he only had the ingredients.

But there was a point that he had to think about.

Was he going to take care of things in the same field as before or was he going to take some risks?

Bae Sungmin’s control of magic was top ranked. It even surpassed Muyoung’s.

However, his body wouldn’t be able to endure it. Even if he became an elder lich, his foundation was that of a ‘human’.

If he used Tacan’s bones it would get a little bit better.

 ‘But it’s not enough.’

There was a limit with Tacan’s bones.

Muyoung looked at his body.

‘The Skin of the Immortal got rooted in my entire body.’

The Skin of the Immortal reconstructed Muyoung’s skin and body anew.

Muyoung’s current body was the same as the most precious ‘miraculous drug’ in the world.

The bones of a dragon? The heart of a phoenix?

They were all top-tier ingredients but even those were a level inferior to Muyoung’s body.

Muyoung cut his skin and poured blood in Tacan’s blood.

He also mixed in some of his hair and nails.

He set up a frame with magic power to set an external shape and covered it with magic.

But that wasn’t the end.

 ‘The Fissure of Fragments.’

Three of them were his objective in the first place but he obtained four of them.

He had one remaining so he decided to carve it in Bae Sungmin’s heart.

It was a strange thing but the Fissure Fragment would strengthen or maximize a particular power.

This was similar to the reality marble ‘wilderness’ Muyoung was using.

There was the possibility the Fissure Fragment could explode but it also had the property to stabilize an explosive magic in a more stable way.

It was a kind of a bet but Enroth had managed to insert that power in his staff safely.

Even if that staff was gifted by the master of magic ‘Amon’, Muyoung would also be able to do it if Amon could.

 ‘Art of Death’

Recreating his imagination.

He would resurrect Bae Sungmin in a more stable, explosive and artistic body.

It was then.

<The Death Lord shakes his head.>

<He recognized the user ‘Muyoung’ and judged that it was meaningless to put marks anymore.>

<The one that obtained the immortal rank. The Death Lord gives the last blessing to the one that makes his own path to walk on.>

<The rank of ‘Art of Death’ becomes ‘EX’ and its unique abilities get revealed.>

<’Granting’ has been opened up due to the nature of the user Muyoung. This activates automatically when used the skill ‘Art of Death’ and there are no particular explanations in the unique ability. Only the user ‘Muyoung’ can find and develop its abilities.>

<The Lich King, ‘Bae Sungmin’ has been recreated into a more perfect existence.>

<‘Granting ???’ has been completed.>

Name: Bae Sungmin

Level: 645

Type: Elder Lich (Lich King)

Strength 550   Agility 540 Stamina 350

Intelligence 700    Wisdom 700 Magic Resistance 660

Chaos 700   Magical attributes 580

+ Can utilize all Necromancer skills (SS Rank)

+ Due to ‘Lineage of Light’, Saint skills are useable (S rank)

+ Due to Fragments of Fissure, stable magic boost (at most 1.3 times)

+ Can utilize ‘Three Doors’

+ Can summon ‘Witch Beatrice’

+ The intelligence to never forget something he saw

+ The intelligence comparable to a ‘Great Magician’

+  Infinite Strengthening Potential

+ Strong bonds (Muyoung, Tacan, Bae Suzy)

He changed.

You could tell that he wasn’t normal just by looking at the numbers.

The numbers surpassed even the devil Shar-Shazar.

He wasn’t as good as Enroth but he obtained more things than him so that was enough.

 ‘Outstanding.’

It was like a miracle that his own body created.

For him to become such a complete art.

 ‘Grant...what did I grant?’

In addition, his own rank had also increased.

It meant that the Death Lord had given up on grading Muyoung and recognized his peculiarity.

Due to that, the unique ability opened up and obtained the strength to ‘grant’, but not even Muyoung knew what he could grant.

However Muyoung still nodded.

He could figure that out with time

He should now focus on the completed Bae Sungmin.

First, he became able to amplify stable magic like Muyoung thought and it seemed like the number of necromancer skills he could use had increased dramatically.

Also, having the wisdom of a ‘Great Magician’ meant that the speed at which he learned skills wasn’t normal. He would learn everything and absorb it like a sponge when he was taught something.

Studying in depth Tacan’s ‘learn what you see’ was impossible but Bae Sungmin made even that possible so you couldn’t say which one was better.

 ‘A strong bond?’

He didn’t know what that meant but it didn’t seem like something bad looking that his name was in it.

Is it because Tacan’s bones and Muyoung’s blood, etc. are mixed in him?

After that, Bae Sungmin stood up with his new body.

Although there was no much difference from before looking externally.

 “Thank you master.”

Bae Sungmin organized the current situation.

And so bowed deeply towards Muyoung.

“I feel like overflowing with strength.”

 “You became stronger.”

“In my current situation... I don’t feel like I will lose easily even against Enroth.”

Muyoung smirked.

Even that Enroth was now an undead.

He should just make them fight directly to see if that was true.

Meanwhile, Bae Sungmin looked at Muyoung again.

 “Master... is that child fine?”

 “Are you talking about Suzy?”

 “Yes.”

Bae Sungmin had thrown himself to save Suzy.

It was obvious that he would be curious about how she was.

 “She’s alive.”

“So, so that is the case.”

“But she is not able to wake up.”

 “.......!”

Bae Sungmin flinched for a moment.

Muyoung continued speaking.

“Although her body is fine, she is refusing to wake up. It is hard to understand.”

“I will go.”

 “Do as you wish.”

Muyoung shrugged his shoulders.

The remains of scattered bone. Something that was estimated to be as Tacan.

 “What is that?

 “Don’t mind it.”

Tacan wouldn’t have wanted him to know.

He would rather get embarrassed and may even quibble over it with Muyoung.

“....Thank you. I will follow you all my life.”

Bae Sungmin left the underground as if he was in a hurry.

It was related to Bae Suji so Muyoung just let it pass.

But the bigger problem was.

 “Tacan...restoring you won’t be easy.”

He had been too fascinated on resurrecting Bae Sungmin that he used Tacan’s bones without thinking much about it.

The result of that was that Tacan was only left with traces.

This was beyond regenerating.

Muyoung looked at himself.

 ‘A rib should be fine.’
