As much as I tried to focus on the task at hand, my mind couldn't help but drift to Sophie. It had been months since we last shared a moment like this, working late into the night together. I couldn't deny that I missed her, missed the way we used to joke and laugh together, missed the way she looked at me with those sparkling brown eyes.

But now, things were different. She was getting married, and I was just her colleague. It was inappropriate to feel this way about her, and I knew it. So I buried my feelings deep inside and tried to concentrate on the business proposal.

Sophie's soft voice broke the silence. "Hey, do you want to take a break and grab some coffee? I could use a pick-me-up."

I nodded, grateful for the chance to step away from the computer screen and the temptation of her presence.

She put back the heels and we start walking to the pantry. The sound of the heels hitting the hard surface of the office floor echoed through the empty hallway. This sound would attract many eyes toward her during office hours.

As we walked, I noticed that Sophie seemed a bit distant. Is she still worried about the business proposal? Or something else is bothering her?

We reached the pantry and she started making us coffee. I just sat at our usual place waiting for her to bring me coffee.

It wasn't long before she comes back with two cups of coffee in both of her hands.

I take a sip before asking her, "Is everything okay?"

She looks surprised by my question.

"Is it obvious?" she asked me back.

I nodded.

She sighed and seems hesitated a moment before replying, "I'm just a bit nervous about the wedding, I guess. It's only a few weeks away, and there's still so much to do,"

I continued to take a sip of the hot coffee. I should have known. Of course, she would feel nervous and anxious about her big day. I hate it when she keeps talking about her wedding.

"Don't worry. Everything will be alright. All this while you've been managing the team here and all went smoothly. The same thing will happen to your wedding," I said feeling bitter which is not from the coffee.

Sophie smiled hearing my answer. The smile that'll make any man falls in love with her. A smile that I'll miss.

It was really quiet in the office. There seem to be many things I want to ask her, especially about the wedding and the bastard who'll own my Sophie in a few more weeks.

But I was scared it would hurt me more.
