Over the next two days he helped the faerie when he could but otherwise left her to her own devices.  Scratches and Queenie both let him know they were ready to evolve as well.  They agreed to wait for a little longer until the faerie was done, though.  Conk also ended up making the faerie drink the nasty regeneration potions that had been created out of plants and her blood after Jelin made an offhand comment about how it might have added evolution options.

At the end of those two days the faerie suddenly told him that she was ready.  She seemed to be ready with a bunch of arguments in case he said otherwise so he just suggested she eat the core from her kill first and then find somewhere comfortable to lie down.  She stared at him with her mouth hanging open for about ten seconds before excitedly flying around while munching on the core.

It took her another two days to evolve and when she came flying out of her room as if to join them for lunch, he was actually surprised about her choice.

She didn't seem to mind his minor gawking and merrily flew over to lunch ahead of him.  It took him awhile before finally managed to ask her what had happened.  Part of the delay came from being startled again when she started to merrily tear into a piece of bloody meat alongside the rest of them.

<So.  What happened?  Did you not have any of the other options we talked about or something?>

<Huh?  Oh, no.  I did.  It's just.  I thought about it, you see.  You said I needed a good base, first, to help lead to who and what I want.  I was going to pick something else but then I saw this and it just felt...I don't know...right?  For me to get what I really wanted, anyways.  So...umm...can I be one of you?>

"...heh...hehehe...ahahahaha"

<Ladies!  The little lass has decided to pick an evolution to fit in better with us because she wants to join us.  Vote please!>

Nobody voted no and the faerie continued to stare at him like he was crazy because of his sudden laughter then silence.  He felt for his linking ability and realized the capacity had increased at some point.  Taking it as a sign that he was still growing he ignored it and threw a link towards the faerie.  She looked shocked for a moment as she tried to fight it then seemed to realize what was going on and accepted it.

<It's kind of like a tradition.  I give out absolutely horrible nicknames.  I do have plans to give everyone a real name at some point but I don't want you to get too excited about that when you've just gotten over your evolution obsession.>

<Hi, Wings.  I'm called Legs.  What did your evolution do besides make you able to eat meat?>

That was actually a really good question.  He looked at the faerie and really noticed her features for the first time.  Her once long blonde hair now had red streaks in it, her fingernails and toenails on each of the three fingers, thumbs, and four toes were all pointed and had red tips, her teeth now had the classic long canine fangs that seemed slightly different from just being larger canines, her once yellow eyes now had red patterns in them, and her previously silver wings were a little darker and had patterns that looked like etchings of veins in them.

<Umm.  I think it's less that I can eat meat but enjoy sucking out the juice with my teeth?  Somehow?  The meat itself is kind of tasteless to be honest.  The juices are delicious, though.  Oh.  I can smell all of you, too.  I think.>

Jelin added his own thoughts after she was done.

<You probably have a heightened sense of smell for blood.  From the changes I can see I can make a few more guesses.  There's probably a small change in things you can see, your nails should be able to pierce skin at the least, and you can probably do something with your wings. 

I'd suggest asking Scar, Claw, and Queenie to help figure it all out.  I'm willing to bet we'll find similarities with 'Wild' and 'Blood', which both Claw and Scar have gone through, and Queenie can help with figuring out flying stuff.  Plus, Queenie is really good at gathering information.>

Lunch soon turned into all the girls getting to know their newest little sister better now that they could actually talk.  There was a lot of laughing, cheering, and having a good time in general.  Jelin joined in and relayed several stories he found funny of times when things got awkward or misunderstood over the past month due to them not being able to communicate properly.

After lunch, everyone went together to go try and figure out what all of the new changes for Wings were while Jelin stayed behind with Scratches.  As they walked to the evolution spot, Scratches seemed lost in thought.  When they reached the evolution spot he finally asked what she was thinking about.

<I'm not sure what to go for, now.  I think I'm ready for the 'Greater' evolution since there hasn't been much I want at the current stage.  I just don't know if I should look for more crafting options, go a little more general, or maybe pick up a combat action just in case.>

<Oof.  That's a tough one.  I'll be here to give my own thoughts based on what you have available but as for the direction to go in...>

He sat there and calmly waited for her to sort through her own thoughts.  Finally, she seemed like she had made some kind of decision and eased herself into a comfortable position in the evolution spot and closed her eyes.  Jelin ignored everything not a 'Greater Child'.

<Being honest, here, I think 'Manipulator is the best choice.  It works for general, crafting, and combat purposes.  Other than that, I see a few other good options.  What do you think?>

<Umm.  'Threadbearing' and 'Trapper' are both no and the rest of the 'Greater Child' ones look good.  I'll get 'Manipulator' for now but we'll have to talk about the rest later.>

She soon faded into the evolution process and Jelin thought about the list as best he could since it was still fresh in his mind.  'Thinker' and 'Designer' could probably be considered interchangeable as well as 'Assembler' and 'Constructor'.  Telepathic he could only see being of minor assistance even in the future unless she left the link, and he didn't really want to think about that too much.  Finally, 'Magicweaver' seemed like a just overall boost with some extra stuff likely in there and he figured it was probably one of the top picks.

There wasn't much he could do once he sorted it out like that, though, since she probably wouldn't wake for a few days.  He thought for a moment and then decided to go to where everyone else and see how things were going with Wings.  As he arrived, he was slightly startled to see a brightly glowing Wings chomping on a dead squirrel.

<Uh.  What did I miss?>

Legs looked at him and gave him a sweet smile.

<Well, she found out she can use blood to boost herself a little.  Also, she can store something like concentrated blood in her wings or something.  So, after playing around with her boost for a while she ran out of blood to use, I guess?  Then she went a little crazy and attacked the first thing that wasn't us...>

<I see.  That actually makes sense.>

They all continued to watch until it seemed that Wings was finished with her meal.  As the glow dimmed down to normal levels she finally looked up at them with blood still dripping from her mouth.  She started blushing furiously as she finally let go of the the squirrel and stepped back.

<You still have a little blood, right there...>

Legs seemed to be the most brutal one here.  Jelin still almost laughed, though, so he probably wasn't much better.

<Sorry.  I don't know what happened.  I just suddenly got tired and hungry...>

<From what I was told when I showed up, you can spend blood to do stuff and store extra in your wings, right?  I think, in the future, you should take care of how much blood you have left to spend before spending it.  Also try to be full, in your storage at least, all the time so when you need it you have it.  For now, though, maybe you should let yourself get in that state again a few more times so you can learnt o control yourself better.  Just my suggestions, though.>
