Xinyan stepped into the forest.

The hubbub of the road began to fade away, replaced by the natural ambience of the forest.

Xinyan was still astonished by how beautiful the game was!

She moved her sensitivity back up to 60%.

Chirp! Chirp!

A small flock of birds passed over her head, merrily chirping and flying!

Xinyan couldn't get enough of this.

The gentle breeze blowing on her neck, the soft earth below her shoes, the crisp air in each breath!

She was very tempted to just live in the game for the rest of her life!

As she happily walked forward, a goblin suddenly rushed out from a bush and swung its club!

Xinyan hurriedly drew her sword and stepped backwards!

[Novice Sword] (Basic)

Level 1

Equipment Requirement: Strength 3

Attack Power +2

Durability 15/15

She counter attacked with a slash!

Thud!

The goblin barely managed to block the slash!

Xinyan quickly stepped to the side and stabbed twice!

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Blood spurted from the cuts.

[Goblin] (Rank E)

Level 5

HP: 110/120

Each hit dealt only 5 HP!

Xinyan was not too concerned.

Howl!

The goblin rushed at her, swinging the club madly.

Xinyan carefully dodged the attacks.

Each attack barely missed by a few centimeters!

As she danced around the goblin, she continued to stab the goblin.

After a minute of intense movement, the goblin began to slow down!

Combined with the many wounds that Xinyan had inflicted upon it, it felt extremely exhausted!

It's mind foggy, it accidentally swung too far!

Xinyan noticed the opening and immediately stabbed it in its heart!

[You have killed a Goblin(Rank E). You have gained 8 experience.]

Three copper coins dropped as well!

"Hm. That wasn't too bad! But I did lose a durability point on my sword. This is only the forest edge though, and they're already 5 levels above me?"

Xinyan was concerned.

She didn't know how many stat points one gained with each level, but she did know that she would likely be unable to fend off higher level monsters.

"That goblin was already a challenge. I only had an easy time because his attack pattern was simple."

Xinyan shook her head and continued into the forest.

The spirit flower was a relatively common herb in the forest.

It was most commonly used as a simple salve for wounds.

However, because the city was very close to the forest, the outer region of the forest was already cleared.

Therefore, in order to find spirit flowers, one had to delve for at least 1 hour into the forest to be able to see any flowers.

As Xinyan continued through the forest, she killed a few more goblins.

When she saw monsters that were level 10, she quickly hid.

After walking for nearly 3 hours, she only found 10 of the spirit flowers needed!

As of now, she had been lingering in the border of the outer and middle region.

Seeing the sun was beginning to go down, she decided to head east and go straight into the forest!

As she moved, a sharp smell entered her nose.

Blood!

After several hours of traveling through the forest, the sharp smell of blood was very recognizable to her!

She began to cautiously move in the direction to see what happened.

She soon came upon a clearing.

A large bulky man lay surrounded by wolves, many of them charred or stuck with arrows.

The man himself had large chunks of meat bitten out of him.

A large axe and shield still lay in his hands.

His light leather armor was completely ruined.

Behind the man, several bodies were flung around.

Three of them were human.

One of the human corpses was completely mauled and unrecognizable.

Another man, presumably an archer, had his head completely crushed!

His cloak and leather armor still stayed intact, however.

A third body, also an archer, also had extremely large chunks of meat bitten off of him, as well as his head!

Several goblins were spread out among them, in a similarly terrible condition.

Xinyan's face paled at the brutal scene.

Her stomach convulsed.

She quickly ran towards a bush and began to throw up.

After several minutes, she finally finished.

Chugging and spitting several mouthfuls from her flask, she finally felt a bit better.

Face pale, she returned to the scene.

The heavy curtain of death and blood still lay in the air.

However, Xinyan steeled her heart and endured it!

If a bloody scene like this could appear at Level 1, then what would it be like when she got stronger?

She had to prepare now!

She carefully moved towards the bodies.

Ignoring the bodies of the kobolds, she carefully plucked the mage's staff from his hand and cleaned it on the grass.

She then carefully, carefully, unhooked the quiver from the belt of the archer who only had his head crushed.

She also grabbed his bow from his hands.

She didn't attempt to loot the leather armor from their bodies, nor did she try to take one of the kobolds.

She already didn't kill them.

Trying to sell the dead kobold bodies when she didn't even know if they bought monsters would be stupid.

She wasn't planning to lug twice her body weight back anyhow!

She placed the bow and staff in her inventory.

Combined with the spirit flowers, which thankfully stacked together, her inventory was now full.

She suddenly noticed a blood trail that headed out of the clearing!

Wary of the monsters, she carefully followed the trail while moving from bush to bush.

She suddenly heard sounds of munching.

Crunch!

Smack!

Nom!

She looked towards the sound, which lay ahead of her.

Her pupils dilated.

Several goblins were eating a silver wolf's corpse!

Three of those goblins were rank D!

They were obvious because of the makeshift armor that hung on them.

Even the lowest goblin was still Level 22!

Suddenly, a window appeared before her.

Mission: Rescue Elendril!

The chosen one of the Goddess Zephyrith is in extreme danger! He needs to be rescued from the tree and taken to Falstein for treatment!

Time Limit: 24 hours

Reward: +50 Goddess Zephyrith Favorability, +1000 Elendril Favorability, +2000 EXP

Failure Penalty: -50 Zephyrith Favorability, -2000 EXP

Xinyan was shocked.

A quest directly related to a goddess!

The time limit was very annoying, but it shouldn't be a problem!

And 2000 EXP!

Surely that was enough to skyrocket her several levels!

Xinyan would automatically become the highest leveled player in the entire city.

No, maybe the entire empire!

Xinyan accepted the quest.

The goblins, having finished their feast, began to move away.

Xinyan waited patiently for twenty minutes to make sure they had left.

Sadly, the goblins looted the coins from the wolf before leaving.

Groannn.

Xinyan heard a vague groan from... the tree?

She suddenly caught movement in the tree's leaves.

Her eyes lit up.

That must be Elendril!

She tried to climb up the tree, but it was too hard!

Even with her arms outstretched, the shortest branch was still just a bit too tall for her!

Sigh.

"Why is it so hard for 168 cm girls?? If only I grew a few more centimeters..."

With a final jump, she barely managed to grab onto the branch!

Then, it took her a full minute to barely pull herself over and onto the branch.

"If this is what my future is going to be, I might have to start doing pull-ups..."

She rested for a few minutes, then peered back up.

Elendril was stuck on the third branch from her.

He was sat snugly on the base of the branch.

It was very difficult to see him, because of his cloak that let him blend in with the background.

She could see that one of his legs hung over the side of the branch.

It had a massive claw wound on it!

She looked at his level.

He was only... Level 1??

Just like her?

What was such a weak NPC doing out here?
