On Saturday afternoon, Alex was laying on her bed texting Sophie on her phone. They had a very nice day today, first visiting their possible future apartment for the upcoming year, and then having a joint lunch with both their families. Alex wondered if this was how a family lunch was going to be in the future, once (technically if, but Alex had no doubts it was going to be a “once”) they get married. That reminded Alex that before they could get married, they needed to sort out all the paperwork regarding her legal transition, which was still a headache for her… Also, while she was excited about wearing a pretty wedding dress, she was a bit sad she could not have a big religious wedding like her grandma would have wanted, but its not like it was her fault their religion did not allow for lesbian weddings, not that she cared further than that about it.

Alex noticed her phone light up again from an incoming message, and snapped out of her thoughts to go back to her conversation with Sophie.

With that, Alex turned off the phone screen, blushing from her girlfriend’s last message. Before going to sleep, she decided to take a final look at the legal documents for her transition (thankfully, she would not need to be in the list for any surgery or sperm preservation, which would complicate the issue quite a bit, but the medical following does require periodic bloodtests…). She needed to change her name, which was going to be minimal from Alex(ander) to Alex(andra), and only required her to go to the courts and ask for it in front of a judge. While terrifying, this step seemed easy on its own. Problem was, she needed to prove two full years of hormone treatment to get the gender marker changed on her legal records… or the full surgery. She got sad knowing that this most likely meant they would not be able to be together in the dorms until their third year, but such were the laws of her country… She then went to sleep, feeling disappointed about the situation, but it’s not like there was anything she could do about it...
