The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm, golden glow over the medieval barracks of Baronet Sraffa's estate. Knights Rocco and Enzo, close friends and comrades, found themselves with a rare break in their training schedules. They decided to spend this leisurely afternoon with a friendly sparring duel, their shining armor clinking as they readied their swords.

Unbeknownst to them, Baronet Piero Sraffa watched from a concealed vantage point, curious to see how his knights would fare in a casual duel. Hiro, disguised as their lord and master, had quickly become accustomed to observing his subjects while concealing his true identity.

Rocco, the burly and experienced knight, bore a massive two-handed sword with intricate engravings that hinted at his many victories on the battlefield. Enzo, on the other hand, favored agility over brute strength, wielding a finely crafted longsword that gleamed in the sunlight.

They resumed the clash of steel against steel filled the air. Rocco's powerful strikes were met with Enzo's swift parries, each knight displaying their unique style and skill. Their movements were fluid, a testament to the countless hours they had spent training together.

Despite the handful of martial power, the late Sraffa family members were known as among the best swordsmen in the region. That included these remaining knights Mauro, Enzo and Rocco.

As the duel continued, Rocco's strength began to show, his sword pushing Enzo back step by step. Enzo, however, relied on his agility, ducking and weaving to evade Rocco's strikes with graceful finesse. The duel was a beautiful display of contrasting styles, drawing the attention of several village boys who had gathered to watch.

Hiro watched with keen interest, his eyes narrowing as he saw Enzo's skillful footwork. He noted the precision in Rocco's strikes. It was clear that both knights possessed remarkable talents.

The duel reached its climax when Rocco, determined to land a decisive blow, swung his massive sword with all his might. Enzo, quick as a fox, sidestepped the attack and delivered a lightning-fast counterstrike. His blade met Rocco's with a resounding clash, sending Rocco's sword flying from his grasp.

The barrack fell silent as the knights stood there, Enzo's sword at Rocco's throat. They locked eyes for a moment before bursting into laughter, their camaraderie unbroken. The duel had been a testament to their mutual respect and the trust they had developed on the battlefield.

Hiro, still observing, couldn't help but sighed. He felt relief to have such  skilled knights in his service. As the knights sheathed their weapons and clasped each other's shoulders in a friendly embrace, Hiro made a mental note to figure out a way to improve his demesne security. Three men despite being skilled, were actually risky circumstances for him.

Hiro sighed again and approached the compound of the barrack. The children were freaked out when noticing him and ran away.

"Brats. Don't run!" Rocco shouted.

Suddenly, the translucent dashboard popped up without being asked.

"My lord?"

Enzo was perplexed when seeing his lord was shocked for no reason.

"Hm. So, no one other than me could see the dashboard." Hiro muttered to himself.

[Military Manpower:

Knight: 3

Militia: 2]

Hiro furrowed his eyebrows. He squeezed the memory of Piero but couldn't remember the 2 members of the militia. He also wondered what was meant by "militia".

He quickly held his head with one hand. The headache came over him again.

Anyway, he couldn't help but laugh. He had only fighting power of 5 men. This was a truly hopeless situation.

He had to accept this was the last straw of the Sraffa army. They probably couldn't put up any resistance and would be wiped out by even the weakest force.

Based on the shacks he counted from afar, there were a little over 100 houses. If one shack housed 5 members of household, there must be over 500 serfs in this territory. There were a lot of vacant spaces though. All of them worked in agriculture according to Mari. Well, it's the age of agrarian society.

Rocco and Enzo stood up and took a cautionary stance.

Hiro peeked inside the barrack. The interior was spacious. From Piero's memory, these three men didn't live in there.

"Enzo." Hiro called Enzo, as he remembered he was distant cousin and considered as the most senior among the three knights.

"Yes, my lord. It's...it's rare for you to be here. What can I do for you?"

Enzo responded hesitantly.

"We have 2 members who are militia. I'm sorry for ignoring the estate affair until now but who are those?"

Enzo and Rocco looked at each other before Enzo answered,

"Mm..They are peasants. Master Jacob trained them to fight. Latte and Krol. Now, they take turns guarding around the villages."

Hiro nodded. Thus, the concept of militia in this world was similar to the concept of militia in the history of his original world.

Apparently, those knights were not paid in money. They were paid in food and necessities instead. Hiro learned that from the documents on the desk in the library. Luckily, he could recognise the words in this world.

Furthermore, the general affairs including resource management in the territory was handled by Piero's father, maestro and his butler, Jacob. Upon their recent death, the affair was being handled by Mari. However, Hiro couldn't show too much interest all of sudden as that would create suspicion.

"Enzo. Do villagers stay working in the land, or they went out?"

Enzo and Rocco looked at each other again, before Enzo answered,

"Well, they plant vegetables, apples, oranges, and some wheat. But our wheat was very small compared to the neighbouring demesnes. Our peasants also reared cows and goats. There are villagers who explored the forest but it was very rare as they had little fighting skills."

Hiro made a mental note. He had to ask as the old lazy Piero didn't bother to study the working of his own estate.

"Anyway, thanks." To avoid digging too much, Hiro walked away towards the village. Hiro was aware of confused gaze from the two men.
