In the middle of a grassy field, a lonely wooden house was the only thing that stood out. Within the house, a figure in a business suit slept soundly on a shoddy looking single bed, the scent of alcohol wafting off of her. Just then, a loud voice seemed to boom across the land.

{Dear Lords, you have been transmigrated to the world of Pangea, a world of magic and fantastical beast. Please collect resources, build up your territory and defenses, and summon your army. In three days, the protective barrier around your territories will dissipate, and monsters will begin attacking. If your town hall gets destroyed, your territory will disappear, and you will cease to exist. So, make sure to fight on! And remember to check your Menu! There are a ton of goodies in there including a newbie gift and other useful functions!}

All this, however, went unheard of by the woman, Xin Yi, as she slowly crawled out of her bed. With a yawn, she began taking in her surroundings. Unconsciously, she began speaking to herself.

{Wooden walls, wooden floors... If I'm not dreaming, it looks like I got kidnapped... Ow, my head!}

As she grabbed her head to alleviate her pain, the panic began settling in. Oh God, they hadn't done anything to her, right? Enduring the headache, she looked down at her body, seeing that she was still in the business suit she had fallen asleep in while drunk. After a careful inspection, she confirmed that she hadn't been touched and none of her organs had been harvested.

{Where the hell am I?}

Looking through the windows of the wooden house, all she could see was an expansive grassy field, with green hills rolling in the distance topped off with a blue sky filled with the occasional cloud. Normally, she would appreciate such a scenery, but the fact that she wasn't in her home located in the middle of a bustling city scared and confused her. All she had was a party with her colleagues to celebrate a successful business deal, and now she is in the middle of nowhere on her rest day.

Just then, something appeared directly in front of her.

[Task 1: Build a Summoning Portal.]

Seeing the blue screen with text in front of her, she couldn't help but realize that this was all a dream. Although she currently felt a headache, maybe it's just her hangover having somehow entered her dream. Of course, to test her hypothesis, she pinched herself.

{Ow!}

Okay, maybe this wasn't a dream...

With nothing but questions, Xin Yi couldn't help but ask aloud about her so-called task first.

{How do I build a Summoning Portal?}

Just as she was feeling embarrassed for speaking to no one, the panel in front of her suddenly changed, now displaying the pictures of multiple buildings with their names under it. Realizing the interface was similar to a base building game, she selected the Summoning Portal with her finger, which had a picture of a ring-shaped rock floating above an altar, a bluish portal within the ring.

[Not enough resources... Resources needed: 0/5 Wooden Planks, 0/5 Stones]

Her expression immediately turned cold as she looked at the panel in front of her. This cheapskate game-like situation couldn't even give her enough resources to build the first building? Thus, she left her house in search of 5 wooden planks and 5 stones. How could she find such resources in the middle of a grass field? Turns out, pretty easily. Just outside of her house was a random piece of plank. Dragging it back into the wooden house, she received a notification.

[Wooden Plank +1]

{Shit...}

Looking at the wooden planks and stones in the field, some of which were considerably far away from the house, she couldn't help but let out a swear.

10 minutes later...

She had finally collected all of the resources she needed to build a portal. Of course, she could have done it faster, but she took her time as she wanted to conserve her energy as the house seemed like it did not have any food. Walking to the side of the wooden house, she quickly built the Summoning Portal.

[Building is too close to another building.]

Repeating the process a few times while walking further away from the wooden house each time, she finally found a location where she could build the Summoning Portal.

Pieces of the portal began materializing into existence, slowly forming into a looming building over ten meters tall, dwarfing the wooden house beside it. As the building completed construction, a blue portal began swirling in the middle of the stone ring, creating a suffocating sense of pressure.

[Task 1 Completed!]

[Task 2: Summon a unit.]

Alright, the first task didn't give any rewards for its completion, but that's fine. She wasn't angry at all... Kicking the altar, she moved onto the next task.

{Open Summoning Portal!}

Once again, an interface resembling those of games appeared in front of her.

  • Unlock at Town Hall Level 2...
  • Unlock at Town Hall Level 3...

__________

Xin Yi slowly got onto her knees, lied down on the ground and curled into a fetal position.

10 minutes later...

She decided to put off summoning a unit first. What was important now was obtaining food and water. No sight of any rivers or streams around. How could she obtain water then? The only possible source of water she could think of was rain. And so, she began weaving a basket made of grass, which was plentiful around. Looks like this random childhood skill she had may come in useful. After creating a few such baskets, she moved onto her next task.

Next, she had to obtain food.

She didn't have to want to do this, but...

Looking at one of the field mice which appear in the grass frequently, she threw a stone she had collected at it, just like she had been doing so for a while now. Despite not being transmigrated with her glasses, with the combination of luck and experience gained, she managed to hit it and knocked it unconscious. Now, for the hard part.

After some preparation, she consumed it. She didn't want to go through such an experience again, but she had to if she wanted to survive. As for the diseases, she couldn't worry about that for now.

One day later...

Rain! It was raining! She had over twenty grass baskets now. However, not all of them were good enough to collect water, leaving 15 baskets filled with around two liters of water. She greedily drank the rainwater, relieving her parched throat. With both food and water somewhat taken care of, she could finally continue her task of summoning a unit.  Before leaving to collect more resources, she quickly checked the Summoning Portal.

The previous day, she had been resting in the house in order to conserve water, but today, she could finally continue collecting resources.

And so, two more days passed. She lugged the last rock into the wooden house before dropping it onto the floor. The small house was completely filled with resources, so she had to put the bed outside, which really screwed her up when it ran in the middle of the night of the second day.

{Sniff! Sniff!}

She couldn't help but sniff a few times due to her runny nose. She was definitely worse for wear due to the lack of food and preparations done to the food, but at least she had completed her task. Drowsily, she opened the panel for the Summoning Portal.

Tears glistened in her eyes as she saw that she could finally purchase a single unit. Maybe it could help her collect resources such as food! Making her way to the front of the Summoning Portal panel, she selected the Lynx in the panel.

The swirling blue portal began lighting up white. Due to the bright light, Xin Yi quickly averted her eyes towards the ground. She soon saw a shadow flash past her feet as something flew over her head. Excitedly, she turned around and took a look at her new unit. And right in front of her was a... TANK?!
