27. Before the Auction

"Have you figured it out? What does Ye Shi like?" Mu Chen walked into the room and couldn't wait to ask Ren Three.

Ren Three hesitated for a moment, then said, "I found out that Ye Shi doesn't seem to like anything in particular except for gourmet food."

"Just gourmet food?" Mu Chen frowned and confirmed.

Ren Three nodded and said, "That's right."

Mu Chen held his chin and said thoughtfully, "He is working at a restaurant now, so he should not be short of food."

Ren Three glanced at Mu Chen and said, "Young Master Mu, all meals in the restaurant are served to guests. Even though he works at the restaurant, he may not be able to have a bite of meat a day."

Mu Chen was surprised. Then he said, "In that case, I have to think about it."

Meanwhile, Mu Yuanhang walked into the room with a gloomy face. Mu Hong looked at Mu Yuanhang's angry face, and felt worried.

"Father, what's wrong?" Mu Hong asked.

Mu Yuanhang gritted his teeth and said unwillingly, "Mu Chen has completely changed recently. From now on, we can't underestimate him any more."

In the past, Mu Yuanfeng and Mu Chen were at odds. On the contrary, Mu Chen trusted him very much. But now, Mu Chen and Mu Yuanfeng had become much closer, but Mu Chen suddenly became on guard with him.

Mu Hong's face sunk because he was upset about Mu Chen's recent change. Why did Mu Chen suddenly change?

“How did it go with what I asked you to investigate?" Mu Yuanhang asked Mu Hong.

Mu Hong nodded immediately and said, "I've got the information. Mu Chen's fiancée is called Ye Shi. Although he is the firstborn of the Ye family, his status in the Ye family is very low.

After Ye He was dead, Ye Shi had no one to rely on. Then he was driven out of the Ye family."

"I saw Ye Shi. He is so ugly. I thought Mu Chen would make a big fuss when he saw such an ugly fiancée. But he was actually quite calm. I really respect him for that." Mu Hong said with schadenfreude.

Mu Yuanhang looked at Mu Chen and asked, "Is Ye Shi really that ugly?"

Mu Hong nodded and said, "Yes."

"That's a bit strange. Mu Chen looks like he really likes this fiancée." Mu Yuanhang said.

The auction of Jiyue Auction House took place as scheduled.

Mu Chen had been waiting at the entrance of Jiyue Auction House early. Ye Shi had given it a lot of thought but decided to accept the Mu Chen’s invitation under Chen Da's persuasion.

There was an endless stream of people who came to participate in the auction. Mu Chen noticed that many of the people who participated in the auction were not from City of Mo.

Mu Yuanfeng and Mu Yuanhang walked over with an old man. As the three of them approached, Mu Chen immediately greeted respectfully, "Grandpa, uncle, father, good day."

Mu Ke looked at Mu Chen, smiled in satisfaction, and said, "Very good. I have been closing up for cultivation for many days. But during this period of time, you have changed like a new person. I can see that you have a promising future.” 

Mu Yuanfeng said with a smile, "Father, he just got promoted to the level of warrior by luck. You are making it like a big deal. Please don’t overpraise him in case he gets arrogant again.”

"Okay, very good." Mu Ke patted Mu Chen's shoulder and said.

"Thank you for the praise." Mu Chen lowered his head and said.

After seeing off Mu Ke and others, Mu Chen couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. Before Mu Chen could relax, another group of acquaintances arrived.

Zhuang Yu was surrounded by several teenagers and walked over. Chen Moran was on the right hand side closest to Zhuang Yu, as if he was defending his importance to Zhuang Yu.

Mu Chen found it ridiculous. No matter how much Chen Moran did for Zhuang Yu now, he would be abandoned when Zhuang Yu’s Mr. Right came. 

"Mu Chen, what are you doing here at the entrance? Why don't you go in?" Zhuang Yu blinked and asked innocently.

Mu Chen smiled and said in a perfunctory manner, "I'm waiting for someone. You can go first.”

Zhuang Yu looked at Mu Chen with pity, frowned, and opened his mouth but decided not to say anything.

Mu Chen was baffled by Zhuang Yu's sudden sympathetic eyes.

 

28. Enemies in One Place

Chen Moran folded his arms, looking at Mu Chen, and said gloatingly, "Are you waiting for someone? Whom are you waiting for? Could it be your ugly fiancée?"

Mu Chen frowned and said in a bad tone, "You saw Stone?"

"Yes, I did. What's the matter? You don't want us to see him? Your fiancée is very ugly, but he has a great temper!" Chen Moran shook his head, full of disdain.

Mu Chen's face sunk and he said, "Chen Moran, mind your language. Stone is very good-looking."

Chen Moran looked at Mu Chen in disbelief, and said, "Mu Chen, you must be joking. Do you lose your mind to say he is good-looking?”

Zhuang Yu looked at Mu Chen with his watery eyes, sighed lightly, and said with compassion, "Mu Chen, Ye Shi is not suitable for you."

Mu Chen's heart was churning for a while, wishing he could yell at Zhuang Yu. But finally he gritted his teeth and said, "You should go quickly."

Zhuang Yu looked at Mu Chen and said, "Mu Chen, don't worry, there will always be someone who suits you."

Mu Chen gritted his teeth and said, "I know."

Mu Chen had run out of patience with Zhuang Yu and the others. Suddenly, he saw a familiar face in the crowd.
Mu Chen got rid of Zhuang Yu and the others, stepped forward and grabbed Ye Shi who was about to leave.

"Stone, where are you going?! The auction is about to start." Mu Chen grabbed Ye Shi's arm tightly.

Ye Shi finally put up the courage to come to the auction. But when he walked to the entrance of the auction house, Mu Chen and Zhuang Yu were standing there. Then he immediately backed away.

"Let go of me!" Ye Shi shook off Mu Chen's hand.

Mu Chen tightly grabbed Ye Shi's arm and said, "I don't want to. If I let you go, you will run away."

"Don't you need to greet Zhuang Yu?" Ye Shi asked.

Mu Chen said disapprovingly, "There are so many people around him. He doesn’t need me.” 

Zhuang Yu looked at the direction Mu Chen was leaving, and couldn't help but frowned.

Chen Moran looked at Mu Chen's actions in disbelief, "When did Mu Chen's taste change so much? It's hard to imagine."

Ye Shi said, "Let go of me! Many people are looking at us."

Mu Chen smiled shyly and said, "Then don't run! If you run, I will catch you."

Ye Shi looked at Mu Chen's face and sighed helplessly.

"Okay, let go. I won’t run." Ye Shi said.

Mu Chen said disapprovingly, "I'll hold your hand. There are so many people now. If you get lost, you'll be in trouble."

Ye Shi blushed and said, "Who would get lost? You mean you?"

Mu Chen nodded and said, "Yes, me. I don't have a good sense of direction and it's easy for me to get lost. So you should help me."

Ye Shi rolled his eyes at Mu Chen, but he did not let go of Mu Chen's hand.

Mu Chen took Ye Shi to the entrance of the auction house.

Mu Chen was irritated to find that Zhuang Yu and the others were standing at the entrance. 

"Why don't you go in? The auction is about to start.” Mu Chen forced a smile.

Zhuang Yu frowned and looked at Ye Shi. Zhuang Yu was calm, but Ye Shi felt sad about himself.

Mu Chen sensed Ye Shi's unease and tightened his grip.

"Let's go first." Mu Chen said.

Ye Shi was dragged forward by Mu Chen, feeling a little strange.

Chen Moran looked at Mu Chen's back and said in disbelief, "This guy cannot be serious, right? When did this guy's taste change so much?"

Mu Chen took Ye Shi to a private room and sat down.

Ye Shi watched Mu Chen’s hand which held his and tried to say something. But when he opened his mouth nothing came out thus he just gave up and remained silent.

There were different categories of private rooms at the Jiyue Auction House. The private room where Mu Chen had booked was the worst. However,  it was still much better than the ordinary seats below.

The person sitting in the private room could see the outside, but the person outside cannot see anything in the private room.

Mu Chen was surprised to find that Zhuang Yu was sitting in the ordinary seat in the hall.

"A-Yu, I have a private room upstairs. You are more than welcome to my private room. My private room is better than here."

"A-Yu, go to my private room. My private room has a better view."

"A-Yu, go to my private room. My private room has a wider view."

Mu Chen didn't know that the reason why Zhuang Yu chose an ordinary seat was because he had too many choices to decide which one.
