One day, someone asked me what kind of world I would reincarnate in if I could choose. I thought this was a timely question, as it was a question I already had an answer for. After all, as a good reader of Webnovels, light novels, manga and anime of all types and genres, I have enough experience to answer this question.
My answer? I would choose a world where there are countless races of beings, from elves, dwarves and half-orcs, to even centaurs, medusas and oni. I've always been excited by the idea of lots of different races interacting and living together in one world. Furthermore, mystical creatures should also exist, the more exotic and different before beings, the better.
Not only that, but I would also choose a world where the proportion of men and women was unequal, like, for every man there would have to be 2 or 3 women. There isn't necessarily a harem for every man, but there would have to be a fairly reasonable difference in gender ratio.
And to end that, this world would have to be a world of magic and science. With all kinds of hidden secrets and places to explore and challenges to face. And with a little science to develop various types of luxuries and amenities so that this world would not be dirty and unhygienic.
Who would like to have to wake up in the middle of the night and relieve themselves on the potty or outdoors?… Nothing against those who do that…
Anyway, my ideal world to reincarnate in would have to meet these 3 requirements. I know it's very strange to have a ready answer to this type of question, but the flesh is weak and the desire is stronger than me.
Who knows, maybe fortune will smile on me and Truck-sama will choose me to be the next random guy he sends to another world. If that happens, I have to be prepared to answer these types of questions when I meet a person responsible for my second chance. I need to be prepared for this, what would Batman be without preparation?
Furthermore, I'm a guy who loves making theories and predictions with different types of scenarios. Like, what if an earthquake hits my city right now? Or what if a flood happens? What if UFOs were discovered this year? What if some kind of solar ray strong enough to burn out the Earth's electronics happens this month?
I don't know if it was explained correctly, but these examples show what kind of things I tend to theorize. I don't even need to talk about the zombie apocalypse. Anyway, let's continue.
I don't remember exactly how long ago someone asked me this question, but it must have been about 3 years since then. Every now and then I still remember the question and think if I would change anything in these 3 requirements.
And no, I would just change something. On the contrary, I think if I had to choose, I would just choose to go to a world of magic and science. I would completely ignore the other 2 requirements without even hesitating.
After all, I firmly believe in chaos theory, and just having these 1 specific requirement for an ideal world of reincarnation already gives me goosebumps. I can't even imagine the consequences that would happen if all 3 requirements were met in the same world.
An example to facilitate understanding is the fact that to circumvent Fisher's Principle, 5 or more different reasons will be needed. After all, the world and the environment itself were forced to work to create a difference of this magnitude between the proportion of men and women.
I could easily think of 3, which are:
First, women are stronger and better adapted than men. Like, they have more muscular strength or are more adapted to specific jobs that offer natural advantages for survival. Or something like that, how can we be less tired, have more manual skills, etc...
Secondly, males with good genes are weaker and/or less adaptable, so they face much more difficulty reproducing. This aspect can be much broader, for example, more beautiful, intelligent, smart, courageous men, etc. are commonly weaker and/or less adapted.
And the third, what I find most bizarre, is that females can fertilize other females. Something similar to what happens with hyenas. Honestly, I think the more I think about it, the weirder it gets. So I think I would sacrifice this requirement easily.
And if I were to stop in a world with such a gender imbalance, I think there should be something that regulates the gender ratio in a more civilized and less anti-competitive way. I don't know what it would be, but I don't worry about it either, as long as it's efficient.
And another thing I thought about and that makes me a little scared is how would so many different races be able to live together in a single world? This scares me as much as the gender ratio, after all, if I remember correctly, just with humans, the earth has gone through countless periods of war between people and 2 world wars, we are almost heading towards a 3rd.
But I also don't even want to think about how or why so many races could live together without killing each other to extinction. Yes, there would be wars and more wars, but even so, why would so many races be present?
Humans alone have already extinct countless species of animals that do not even compete for territories. Imagine a bunch of different races fighting for fertile land and water reserves.
I'm afraid to think deeply about these things to this day, but the flesh is weaker than the spirit and reason is weaker than the libido of a 21-year-old guy in the prime of her college life.
And just imagining elven beauties, muscular and athletic half-orc women or sensual foxes is enough to make me take the risk of entering a world full of dangers. Honestly, all it would take was for a white kitsune to hug me with its nine tails and I could die in peace.
I still dream about this kind of thing and I love going to cosplay events just to take photos and imagine myself in a world with so many magnificent races. Seriously, I think it's weird too, but I take comfort in the idea that I'm not the only one who thinks this way.
As the philosopher said, each of us has two versions, one that we use to live in society and another that we fight to hide from everyone. I don't know if that's the case, but I think you get the point.
Well, it was nice and cool to vent a little about it. It helped me a lot to not despair even more about the situation I'm in. Like, being naked in a totally scary forest would be a horror movie situation.
It's a very eerie forest, there are almost no birds singing and it's dark even though it's daytime. And the worst thing of all is that I can't even move the way I want because I'm in a baby's body.
Damn, in a BABY's body and in the middle of a forest with no one around. Damn, damn whoever is taking care of samsara today, damn bastard.
How am I lucky enough to be reincarnated and unlucky enough to be in a deadly situation on the first day? Is this some kind of joke? The old man who was going to listen to my wishes went on vacation and left everything to an AI without feelings?
Who the hell had the idea to abandon a child in a forest like this with nothing more than a rag that could barely be called a blanket? Hell, if they can't raise kids, they shouldn't even have kids. Bunch of irresponsible people, children of a mangy hyena.
I can't even ask for help, the most that comes out of my mouth is crying and more crying. And I don't even know if crying is a good idea, the chances of a hungry animal showing up are much greater than a kind soul finding me first.
Shit, shit, shit, shit… AAAAHHHHHHHHHH
Okay… calm down, breathe. I have to calm down and try to think of some kind of plan.
Man, what am I thinking? I'm a baby and I barely have control of my body, I've already pissed myself twice since I woke up. The most I can do is cry until someone or something kind finds me.
But will it work? This forest is very sinister… How many meters tall does a tree need to be to be able to block the sun like that? Seriously, I've walked through dense forests, like the Amazon rainforest in Brazil and several boreal forests in Canada, but this forest can be even more sinister.
If I start crying now, how long will it be before some wolf or bear comes along and takes advantage of their free meal? And even if it is close to civilization, is this place frequented or is it an isolated place?
The desire to cry is great, but the fear of being eaten alive is much greater.
But it seems like I don't even have the capacity to stay awake to think of a plan. Seriously, why did I have to reincarnate in such a bad situation? God, couldn't you send me by stork to a place that's easier to survive? Would it be too much to ask?
A baby really has no control over himself, how sad. Besides being in such a precarious situation, I'm forced to take a nap now. I can't even stay awake to watch time pass... I hope I don't get eaten while I sleep.

*Ding* *Zing**Zing*
Okay… I can believe that babies dream, but wouldn't it be asking too much to believe that babies dream about something like a green and red nebula? And this is so bright and alive, even more real than the simulations or photos I've seen in 21 years of life. And it moves… It looks like a cloud of live smoke with exuberant colors. It feels like I can touch it, it's so real. It is beautiful, magnificent and stunning. Incredible.
Wwwooowwww is changing color.
Now it's yellow and some shades of pink. Ohhh, it's changing again.
It seems to respond to my feelings. Hahahah incredible, I'm going to test some things to see if it's really responding to me.
no futa
I agree. No Futa
Really great first chapter, I was moved. your MC and I have similar thinking processes!
Looks promising so far!
But can I make a few suggestions?
1) Perhaps capitalizing the first letter on every word on the title would give this a more "professional" vibe?
So, instead of 'Sihir: world of wonders' we'd get 'Sihir: World of Wonders'.
2) Adding numbers to your chapters would also make it easier for future discussions. Like "This character was first show on Chapter 27" instead of using the chapter's title.
Lets hope our mc becomes a REAL MAN and wipe the floor later with anyone, even if he starts weak, he must train until thats no longer the case... I find it humiliatingly that a man is weaker than a woman.... If this world the women are stronger, either physically or magically... Well... I train until im twice stronger than the average women to return to being normal standards. Its nonsense that in our world women believe they can compete with men when we are on average twice stronger.
Now... Why men are generally the strongest of the genders in almost all life? Cause we must protect and provide our women when they are pregnant
The dude at the end must have put a poison mushroom in his mouth lol
And to end that, this world would have to be a world of magic and science. With all kinds of hidden secrets and places to explore and challenges to face. And with a little science to develop various types of luxuries and amenities so that this world would not be dirty and unhygienic.
I dislike seeing conventional science introduced in medieval fantasy worlds and prefer if some magical technology is used instead.
Given the synopsis I doubt the first bit will be relevant for writing the story, but high mortality can work as is without explicit gender differences.
People dying left and right means that the success of a group highly depends on their ability to replace the losses, which in turn makes it proportionally unacceptable to 'spend' the lives of those capable of giving birth on the high risk stuff.
Paired with the tech/magic to offset the health risks of the former, you get the desired skew.
Finally, if you go down the war line of thought, other intelligent creatures, both of same or different species, can serve as cause of the mortality.
Another way would be to have historically high mortality in women which led to biological skew at birth. Originally, the two would cancel out after a certain age, but tech/magic solved the former.
The first you present would have to answer the following question: What do men keep dying to when tech/magic should be able to combat a huge portion of diseases and women are to be able to hold their own against the same threats? Even if men cannot, why doesn't the 'stay-at-home' model hinted at in the synopsis keep them out of harm's way?
The second seems only possible with long running eugenics. The only measurable genetic 'success' is reproduction, so these traits would in my mind have simply been bred out in favor of more fertile variants if left on their own.
Which could both work as background for the story from as much as I know about it, but it would depend on the direction you want to take.
What do you think of these reasons:
Aggressive diseases, very aggressive and hostile nature, long-term unpredictability, population control by genes, genetic improvement adaptive to the aura, high investment and low reward, scarcity of resources.
These will be my main points to support this characteristic of gender disproportion.
The main difference between males and females in this world would be the ability to adapt to magic. I don't know what the finer details will be like, but let's say that females are much more adapted to using magic, therefore, they are naturally more physically fit than men.
Furthermore, pregnancy and birth are periods of empowerment for women. Almost like a time of isolated cultivation. They remain secluded as much as possible to take advantage of the aura's influences on the fetus and mother.
Second interesting aspect is the fact that there is no safe place, the maximum security that exists is within the fortresses of the city-states... Women are the main force of the army, but there are executive men and anomalies that I will mention there for forward in history.
The fact is that humans can only go where there are no strong beasts, and there are often what I will call "Disbands" where there is the forced expulsion of countless beasts from a location. Which leads to a conflict of survival for any city-state that is in the way.
Third fact is what I will call the "Aura Factor" which means that anything can happen if Aura wants it to. "Aura" is magic itself of this world, something very close to a force of nature, but much more aggressive.
Like, it can cause sudden changes in the climate of a region and can influence the development of animals and plants.
For example, the house "Solis" was destroyed because of a change in vegetation near the fortress, which attracted a beast powerful enough to ruin the entire city.
@Undead
Fortress cities and disease seem prone to extreme fluctuation. An intact defense and a largely healthy population would likely have a much more balanced ratio, like 1/1.3-1.5, while breach and infection would quickly wipe them entirely. (The isolated cultivation requires a place assuredly safe for at least 9 months and given that the women have to fight off the outside world, I doubt they have that high of a life expectancy either)
City states also make it easier to isolate against infection, given that interconnection would be largely prevented by death world wildlife to begin with.
Aura on the other hand seems extremely discouraging to staying in one place. Why undertake the monumental effort to build a fortress if the ground can turn into a poison swamp over night?
Genes (deliberate and natural) will have to be related to survival, because the death world scenario doesn't seem to allow much leeway. The easiest would be to link the disadvantages to higher magic affinity in their female children.
That said, it seems plausible enough if you want it as background for the protagonist's story. Make the aura spark disease from thin air, use magic to trivialize the building process, with the clearing being the actually hard part.
Women being more likely to be born on top of postnatal factors should also be easy to reason for, given that more are needed, with advancements in understanding of magic having increased their survivability over time.
Seems like a very interesting world, though. I just hope it'll matter to the MC somehow, given the signs that he's capable of magic.
@Zirrboy
Putting it in a hypothetical situation of how I will proceed:
Cities are really easy to build because of advances in science and magic. But there are methods and tactics implemented for choosing and maintaining the location of fortresses against weak, medium and relatively strong natural disasters. Only natural disasters of a truly destructive scale would be able to shake the structure. However, the issue of aura beasts continues. because they reproduce much faster and grow stronger much easier than sentient beings.
But the aura affects everything and everyone differently, as is the case between women and men. While men WERE more likely to develop illnesses because of the complications that the aura causes, women adapted better.
I didn't explain it properly because I still don't have a concrete thesis, but let's say that elves, humans, dwarf oni, etc. managed to develop because of the group's relationship. Like a pride of lions where the females do almost everything, in a group of elves in this world the "alpha male" would only have the role of reproducer. Of course, this male would be selected based on his genes. In other words, he would have to have genes with more adaptation to the aura. Which would cause a kind of natural selection.
In the case of females, pregnancy does not require them to be isolated or defenseless. On the contrary, this period is extremely important for them to be able to 'connect' with the aura. It is a time when the Aura stirs and intensifies in the woman's body, making it easier for her to understand more about the aura and consequently become stronger. But it is not a period of fragility, on the contrary, it is a moment where they are stronger. I haven't decided, but it could be that the pregnancy could last between 45 and 50 weeks.
Because of this intensification of the aura in the woman's body, there is a high rate of miscarriage in the case of boy pregnancies. In other words, if the fetus is male and is weak against the aura, the pregnancy will be terminated. This was an evolution of women's genes, after all, despite it being an opportune moment for them, their bodies would still be sharing resources with the fetus. If this did not happen, the stillbirth rate would probably be extremely high.
But after the baby is born, everything is decided by sex. If it is male, it is the group's duty to protect and care for the child, always monitoring and evaluating potential. If he has good potential, resources will be allocated for nurturing and training until his potential blossoms, but if he has poor potential, this child will not have access to as many resources for nurturing or training his potential.
Resources are everything that can influence and facilitate the strengthening of the child's body to mix with the Aura. For example, Aura ores are extremely valuable because they are reserves of aura in tangible form. If used correctly, the resources allow the boy to gain aura strength just like women.
The potential in this case would be the ability to adapt with the organism's mana. In other words, if the baby is prone to developing illnesses or the body does not relate to the aura, it will not receive valuable resources for strengthening.
But if she is female, the girl will have a practically normal life. Without intense care, without assessment of potential at birth, without segregation and with unlimited potential to rise in power. But some things could make a girl's life much easier, such as where she was born, when she was born, who her parents are and some other similar factors.
And just for anyone reading who didn't like this part, IT'S A WORLD MADE FOR WOMEN.
@Undead Just for my understanding, the first part of your last message makes me think that the 'everyday' threat from wildlife and disease has been drastically reduced.
Making aura harmful directly was actually something I considered suggesting, but dropped with how cuddly the MC's adoptive mother is being. If it applies only during pregnancy it works, of course.
As for the raising part, maybe I'm just misunderstanding something, but wouldn't the most important aspect for men be siring talented daughters? If magic affinity is inherited in that direction it makes sense to prioritize men according to it, but where's the need to have them use it?
Additionally, you still need people to carry the next generation of prospective gigolos, so I'd expect the women to get their own share of eugenics in that regard at least.
@Zirrboy
@Zirrboy
It was not my intention to reduce the risks of nature. Just to be clear, most diseases can be fought, because of research, but that doesn't mean they are simple to cure. To cure more severe aura diseases, only magical methods can do the trick. Which involves spending a large amount of resources like rare herbs or some kind of aura beast substance. (In short, it's expensive.)
In the case of aura beasts, they are the top of the food chain... Of course, there are species that are in a category that I will call Overlord, dragons and Ancient high elves are in this classification. the Overlords are the supremacy of power. But beneath them, the aura beasts reign with irrational power. Like, to destroy a large fortress, only a level 6 aura beast around 300 years old is needed.
In the case of procreation, we know that women are not born naturally beautiful. The stronger they become, the more exuberant they become. The aura modifies and improves various aspects such as physical appearance and the body itself. A woman at the peak of level 7 (Aura beasts have a different classification than sentient beings.) has a life expectancy of around 220 years.
The same thing also happens in men, but there is the cost factor: if a woman spends 1 kilo of magical mineral, a man needs to spend 15 kilos. That is why there is selection to allocate resources to evils. But the chosen ones are properly nurtured until they can develop. As long as the cost-benefit ratio is favorable, the chosen one continues to be nurtured. If the cost is too high, the chosen one loses the source of resources and must rely on other methods to obtain the resources necessary for his ascension, if he wants to ascend.
And yes, women also go through a type of selection... But this only happens relatively and much more disguised than apparent. But I need to discuss a thesis about how romantic relationships would work in this world in a much more logical way.
@Undead So the reason they spend as many resources on men is to use the lifespan benefits? Or does the actually achieved (rather than purely potential) level of magic matter to the child?
You keep mentioning physical appearance, which I'm beginning to suspect is a mistranslation with how little sense I can make of it in this context.
@Undead - For the record the beginning half of this comment was typed without reading all the comments in this thread. The second half is after reading and I thought it would be best here instead of just off on its lonesome.
So if you really want a world in which there is a gender strength difference between men and women, without changing the body structure too much, I would suggest going the magic route.
By magic route I mean the ability for the body to use and absorb magic. So make it so that the human body just constantly absorbs some amount of magic. This magic strengthens the body naturally and makes it stronger. For some reason female bodies have a better time of absorbing mana then males, so their bodies are naturally stronger/healthier.
Could also use that same logic with using magic. Just as there is a small portion of the female population that can use mana to be mages, there is a even smaller amount of males who can.
Now somewhere it was written about females being able to mate with females. I would suggest getting rid of that idea. The reason is that if such a thing existed, then it would remove the earlier comment about the population difference creates harems. . . If there was a female to female mating process, them there is no need for harems.
Moving on to consequences for the other two.
For the first one disease, life span, and health is all options. Heck there could even be a negative of normal males not "lasting long" because of their bodies being weaker.
Now the second point about better genes is kind of up in the air. Personally I think that better genes would equal more mana(in my situation) or better health overall. I think this is too much of a negative really because you would have to explain why unhealthy people have a better chance at reproducing. Unless there is a spell or something in place to cause this I don't think it would work.
Personally I would instead go with just how rare good genetics are. . . If anything make this a social issue. As in the female population sees ugly men as beautiful or something like that.
At this point I have read some of your comments in another section. For your woman are strong at pregnancy idea you could use over-lapping mana (circuits, cores, dantian, whatever you want to call their mana organ) as the reason. That the child they have growing in them mana organ starts up so they have double there field. So depending on the gender of the child and the child's natural mana talent would determine how much benefit the mother has. Would also give the idea of how much potential the child has.
For your city/hostile environment idea. Personally I would argue that you need to keep science grounded for this to work. So have you heard the term low-magic world? It means a fantasy setting where magic is rare/under used in the setting. I would suggest making the world a low-science world. To make it one in which they have only a low understanding of science so that you do not have to make up excuses as to why they don't build better cities.
Better idea lol. Make the technology/science a lost art of the past. So the science that the world uses, showers, sewage, defense systems etc etc. are relics of the past. That they are only a number of fortress cities because that is all that survived some world ending event in the past. You could give each city its own special thing based on this. Perhaps one city has a very good cloaking device that lets them hide from monsters. Or one has an automated defense system. With this you have a reason why fortress cities are not continually being expanded. You could also add in exploration missions to find lost technology/potential new fortress cities for the mc to find or go on missions.
I will just end it with his. I think you are trying to put too much into the power balance in the world building. From what I have read in the comments you want to make humans masters of both science and magic, but also the weakest link to nature and beast. I don't think that works very well. I don't see how them being a master in both of these arts would allow them to be pushed around so much by the world. Heck, even if they are what is stopping them from leaving? If they can build fortress cities to survive the different levels of natural disasters, why not just build a space ship to leave? Reinforce the space ship with magic as well. I really think that to create the world you want to, that science needs to be reduced.
Best of luck though.
