This was my first time writing a novel from start to end and that probably showed in a number of ways lol.
I started writing this novel when I first discovered yuri as a genre. Anime such as Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and Princess Principal were major inspirations along with other anime/manga I experienced in 2023.
When it comes to what I took away from writing Starlight Curse, I think what I felt strongest about was the character of Luna. She's a girl who's scared of how she's considered abnormal and different from others. She's afraid of getting too close to anyone for how it could end up hurting her or others. Isolating herself for years was the only answer she believed was right as she wallowed away in her own self-hatred and guilt.
My desire to keep writing came from wanting to see her story through. I wanted to see her learn that she shouldn’t resent herself for existing and can start walking down a path where she wants to connect with others, ultimately walking down a path where she can love herself. She knows it’s scary to let herself be vulnerable, but it can lead to experiences she never could’ve had otherwise.
In a number ways, Starlight Curse was a very personal story for me. It wasn’t perfect, but I am happy that I made it and hope you were able to get something out of it.

I’m working on a sequel to Starlight Curse! At the time of writing this, 11 chapters have been drafted and they’re all much larger and in-depth than the chapters from this novel. It’s been a blast to write but it’s also looking to be a much larger project so it may be a while before I start uploading chapters.
