“I came back to check up on” she said

When I saw her my mind settled down a little

“How are you felling now”

“Oh, a lot better now” I replied and turned a little red as I was reminded of what happened last night but I was not alone as she had the same reaction to

“Can you two do this inside” came a voice from behind her, it was Alice

“I brought her along thought we could have lunch together” she said as he raised the bag she was holding

“Ah, come in please” I said as I moved out of the way

Alice went and sat on the couch and Clara went off to the kitchen to prepare what she had brought

I approached the kid who had switched on the tv and was now focused on it

“How are you doing kid” I asked from behind the couch

“Looking at you, I think better then you at least” at she says without taking her eyes off the screen

I really looked that bad huh

I decided not to disturb her anymore and left, approaching Clara instead

“Hey” I said as I leaned against the counter top

“Hey, I hope you like Chinese” she said with a smile “What were you two talking about” she asked while continuing to take out the food

“I was just asking how she was doing; she has really been handling it well hasn’t she”

 “Yeah, even I’m surprised”

We both turned our gaze to the kid on the couch

“I’ve been thinking” I said slowly bringing our attention back “what if went somewhere”

“Where?”

“Anywhere” She still looked confused not understanding me so I started to explain

“I have some money saved up; we could go somewhere far start anew”

“You’re joking, right?” her reaction was normal but that didn’t stop me

“Look, it would be good for us, for me for you and for Alice, here everything will just remind her of what happened, a new place with faces would do her good” after what I had just learned, right now was the high time for me to disappear, big things were going to happen and if I continued to stay here, I was going to get caught up in it even if I wanted to or not, so my best bet was to disappear and I wanted them to come with me

She looked at Alice for a while and then finally turned to me and nodded yes

I moved closer and hugged her “Thank you”

“It’s me who should be thanking you” she replied

“No, you have helped me more than you can imagine”

As we separated my phone suddenly rang, I took it out and answer

“He’s awake!”

“Yes, yes I’ll be right there”

I turned to Clara as I said

“I think, I might have to skip lunch”

I got to the hospital as fast as I could

When I entered the room Joshua was awake

“Looks like you didn’t get out too easy either” he said as he saw me enter, his voice was weak but he was right I did look bad, my face still hadn’t fully healed and my left arm was cover in bandages

I smile and thank God he was ok

Ever since I found out I was the reason he was here it had been eating at me but now that he was at least awake I felt a little better

“I’m sorry man because of me he got you too” he started apologizing as I sat down beside him

“No, it’s me who should be apologizing it’s because of me all this happened” I stopped him and started to apologise instead I was all my fault all because I was over confident in myself

“No, I knew the dangers going in”

We both went quiet, truthfully; I had expected him to blame me for what had happened and he would be right it was all my mistake that had led to this

I was greedy and reckless not thinking about the consequences

“Do you know what happened to Demitri he’s been missing too” I asked worried about what might have happened to him

“So, you don’t know” he looked surprised

“Know what” was I missing something

“Cain, He’s the one who gave us up” this was news to me

That bastard looks like it was not all my fault after all and here I was worrying for that son of a bitch

“Don’t worry I already have some friends looking into him, he’ll turn up sooner or later and then you can do your thing” he said giving me a knowing smile

“Seeing that he’s still alive I’m guessing that we have an agreement”

“I still need time” it was Deathstroke that was speaking from the other side of the screen

“Not too much, looking at things my guess is that won’t take very long”
