“I guess I underestimated you. Children usually don’t make for great fighters.” Micah said jokingly as she tried to nudge away from Silva’s blade. However, the blade stayed put resting against her neck.

“Want to tell me why you want the other coven to be removed by the Agency? If you explain then maybe we can come to some kind of understanding. Unless if you happen to be hiding something.” Silva replied with a stern look that scared even me as I watched from the pendant.

Micah stood still. Not saying a word as the blade began to dig into her neck just enough to draw blood. The tension in the air was so strong that it was concerning. Finally, Micah let out a sigh and raised her hands up to surrender. Silva removed the rapier from her neck as a sign of trust so that Micah could turn to face her.

“The truth is that we have been dabbling in necromancy. However, our reasoning is so that we may understand human sciences. If we can understand how the human body works then we may be able to save countless lives from illness. This new coven that recently came into this town has begun kidnapping people and stealing corpses to make thralls and undead soldiers.” Micah explained.

“And how do you know this?” Silva asked.

“Because we see them digging up the graves. They do it in the middle of the night when no one is out. Those that see it happening usually are captured and turned into one of their undead experiments.” Micah answered.

“Is this why you contacted the Agency?” Silva asked.

“Yes, High Priest Heartling knew of the risk to us if we were found out but he couldn’t continue to allow the townsfolk to be at risk.” Micah continued.

“I see. If that is the case then I have no reason to report your covens work. However, I would ask that you not continue with such studies any longer.” Silva replied with the same stern tone that she had before.

“Thank you. I doubt the High priest would want to continue with this research after this whole incident.” Micah said with a grateful voice.

“Now, I would ask that you not bother me again unless if you have something that would benefit me.” Silva said.

“Well let me give you a warning. The leader of the coven isn’t someone you can deal with easily. She’s a master of blood magic and is far older than any of us.” Micah said before going back the way she came.

After hearing this I couldn’t help but feel like this might be Medea’s doing. It was a long shot but that didn’t mean I felt unwarranted by this idea. Part of me hoped that it was her but another part of me hoped that it wasn’t. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one thinking this as Elysif approached me from behind.

“You think that could be my mother?” Elysif asked.

“Sadly, yes. Do you happen to know if it is?” I asked with a sad tone.

“I don’t. I’m probably barely one year old at this point in time.” Elysif replied as she shook her head.

“Considering the possibility that it is, we should probably scope it out.” I said to Elysif as I was about to tell Lily to go ahead of Silva.

“No, remember that she doesn’t know you still live. We can’t alter the timeline due to those stupid laws. For now, it would be best to stay away.” Elysif said, pointing out a key flaw in my thinking.

“True, though there is no harm in letting Lily be seen. If she is caught and it does happen to be Medea then I’m sure that they can get along like old times.” I stated.

Elysif rubbed the bridge of her nose as if she was starting to get a headache. She knew I meant well but she couldn’t help that this was a bad idea. “Alright, send Lily. Though do try to have her stay out of sight.” Elysif finally said knowing that I probably would have asked her to anyways.

“Lily, please get Silva to tell you where the other coven is and try to convince her that it would be a good idea for you to scout it out.” I said to Lily.

“Got it.” Lily replied before flying down to Silva and reverting to her human-sized form.

“Thank you for that, Lily. Now I have some good information.” Silva said, expressing her gratitude as she lowered her stern tone to that of something more relieved. I couldn’t help but notice that she let out a sigh of relief after but tried to hide it. Was this stern, always in control personality an act? Perhaps.

“You’re welcome. Though, I heard what she said. Should I scout out the building ahead of time and make sure it’s safe?” Lily asked with a concerned tone that sounded real.

“That might be a good idea. Yeah, go ahead of me to this address and see what you can find out. I’ll be there in about twenty minutes.” Silva said before pulling out one of the papers she had the night before and handing it to Lily.

“Of course.” Lily said with a nod before flying off.
