“A door!” I said exasperated.

 

Of all the incredible things we could find, a door is the first thing we get to see after those damn fireflies!?

 

I can’t hide my disappointment because if I want this girl to love this adventure, she needs to see awesome things so she could get motivated to continue with me through this journey.

 

“What is it doing here?” Now Alleena was asking the important questions, I realized she was right, this didn’t make any sense.

 

“Yes, this is weird… Now that I think about it…” I suddenly took a map out of my cloak.

 

I was checking out the map as I was trying to identify where we were and I checked out many times because this thing was telling me we were just outside a city, but there was nothing around here, only this damn door.

 

“Well… According to this map, we should be in a city called ‘Mont Noir’” I was checking once again, and yes, according to this map, we should be in that place.

 

My reference was the huge mountain in front of us, the most interesting thing about this mountain was the top as it is completely black, according to the map that’s because the top of the mountain is made of obsidian, the earth sometimes creates the most amazing things.

 

“This is interesting… It seems like there’s a lot of beautiful girls inside this door!” I heard Allee say and I stopped looking at the map to focus on her.

 

The girl was staring at the door’s peephole but my eyes suddenly widened before I launched myself towards Allee to hug her and take her away from where she was standing, we fell on the ground and she seemed a little upset about what I did.

 

“Hey, things were getting interesting inside!” She complained and I rolled my eyes.

 

“Look at it!” I pointed my finger to the ground, in front of the door where she was standing.

 

A strange spiral was on the ground and after we fell together, the thing quickly disappeared.

 

“I don’t like this Allee… We managed to survive whatever thing that was just by pure luck, let’s leave this door here,” I suggested and she nodded.

 

“I’m still curious to know where this takes us though” She giggled and I couldn’t help but sigh.

 

“You’re too adventurous for your own good sometimes Allee… Come on, let’s move somewhere else, and let’s set up a temporary camp!” I suggested and she nodded.

 

We walked away from the door and I stared at the thing to be sure it didn’t do anything weird to us, but when it finally disappeared from our sight, we walked now more relaxed, it was a really awful situation, I wanted to get to this city to get a comfy bed, this is what I get for letting her decide between walking or staying in her hometown, I guess this is what you get for associating with other people.

 

“So, what kind of spells do you know Kazz?” I almost choked on my own spit, her question came out of nowhere and it took me by surprise.

 

“Oh… A lot, I don’t think it’s good for you to know what I can do… It can be dangerous,” I tried to explain to her.

 

“Why?” She asked and I was about to invent something, but then, the two of us heard something, the sound was so low but we still managed to perceive it.

 

“Did you hear that?” Asked the blonde girl.

 

“No… Let’s keep going,” I lied and she nodded, it's better for her to think she's going insane instead of saying what the two of us knew was happening.

 

We tried to forget about this weird moment and we also stopped talking about my powers, I thanked whatever thing interrupted us, there was no way I could let her know that I only knew a few basic spells and some curation ones, I didn’t learn a thing in school even though I was a top five student but that was because I copied from the smart guys.

 

But can you blame me? The school system failed me, they destroyed my creativity and we were forced to pass with good grades or else we were called useless, I must admit I did some questionable stuff back in the day but I know it was justified.

 

“So, what do you plan to do with the money you’ll learn once you defeat the demon king?” I asked trying to change the topic.

 

“They give you money for that?” She was surprised.

 

And now I remembered that she’s an aristocrat, she has never had to worry about food on her table or money in the bank, and that’s why she probably doesn’t understand why the average human needs money to survive.

 

I was about to say something else, but then again we heard it once again… The rustling sound we heard before was back and there was no point in me trying to deny this, the sound was just too high to ignore.

 

“T-The moon is beautiful tonight… R-Right?” Asked my teammate and it shocked me that she was the one who tried to hide what was happening, so despite her being so scared, I just nodded at her.

 

“Yes, beautiful indeed,” I said with the most fake posh accent.

 

We smiled nervously at each other and we continued walking, I knew that going out in the middle of the night wasn’t such a good idea, I wished I could go back in time to slap myself for letting this girl decide to walk instead of staying at an inn.

 

“So, here’s a joke… An orc, a human, and a sorcerer—” I couldn’t finish because the sound was just too high right now, and I was so angry that I couldn't stop myself from screaming at the direction the sound was coming, I pointed at that direction with my wand, and surprisingly out of the weak ray I shoot, this made a thing come out in the middle of nowhere.

 

It was so big and mysterious and it was like a… Rectangle!? And it revealed once again that it was the door we saw a few minutes ago.

 

“You again!? Stop following us!” I complained and the door started to get closer and closer to us.

 

“Do you think it’s cursed?” Allee suggested and her idea didn’t sound so crazy, however, I have no idea how to detect if an object is cursed, the teacher that gave me that class was so bad that I just cheated in that class because I was participating in illegal broom races that semester, so, it was common for me to just go to that class when there was a test.

 

“Let’s see…” I said trying to look as if I knew what I was doing.

 

To be honest I had zero idea what was going on here, I sighed defeated.

 

“Oh, what the hell… You know what? We have a new member in the party, let’s welcome door into the party!” 

 

“What are you talking about? That doesn’t make any sense, how can a door help us?” This girl truly has zero vision.

 

“There’s a lot of things she can do… She will trap our enemies, she’s too broken as she seems capable of making portals on the ground, we just need to push our enemies towards her!” I know I was going insane, but I don’t know how to solve this problem.

 

I saw her expression and I knew she wasn’t convinced, she’s a tough one.

 

“She can also make the illusion of a fake dungeon, this will help us to eliminate the competence we have to defeat the demon king!” She didn’t change her expression but I knew she would get used to the idea with time. “Door… I welcome you to this party, the one that will complete the challenge set by "the worldwide guild organization" I hope we'll get along!” I said as I bowed to the door and the thing did the same.

 

“That’s the worst idea ever…” She said with a serious expression and I couldn’t take it anymore.

 

“Well, I don’t know what else to do with her, think about something, this is all your fault after all!” I couldn’t take it anymore and I finally released the feelings I was suppressing, I was looking for a culprit to blame for this situation and Allee was the closest person to that.

 

“What do you mean!?” She was having none of it and I couldn’t help but back down, but even if my initial bravery was gone, I still needed to make a point.

 

“If only you hadn’t looked at the peephole this wouldn’t have happened!” My theory made a lot of sense in my head and seeing her shocked expression it seems like she agreed with me.

 

“What? How would I have known that? You’re the expert when it comes to magic, that should have been your job!” She complained and I couldn’t help but flinch, she was right. “It’s your job to be a healer and a wise person to prevent the party from making stupid mistakes!” Her words were like knives, she was right.

 

I’m so pathetic, putting all the blame on an innocent girl who surely hasn’t had real-life experience, and all because she’s on a team with a useless sorcerer who wouldn’t be able to prevent danger even if he was being paid for it, that was the logical way to think about this situation.

 

On the other hand, I’m a rather explosive person, so, I ended up using the most basic human tactic, I let the anger take over me before I jumped toward her causing her to fall on the ground with me on top of her I smiled victoriously but I wasn’t taking into account that the girl has superhuman strength, the next thing she did was that pushed her hands with a strong force that caused me to elevate me to a very high height.

 

“Ah… This is not good!” I screamed when I reached the max point and I started to fall once again.

 

Surprisingly, the girl caught me in the air and placed me on the ground, I was back on my feet safe and sound once again, and I was happy that she saved me from falling on the ground.

 

“Hey, thank you for that!” I smiled at her, I was sincerely thanking her, there was no fakeness and neither sarcasm.

 

“You’re welcome!” She said with a huge grin.

 

And it didn’t take too long before she resumed the fight once again tackling me to the ground, and now we were fighting like cats, rolling on top of each other and changing positions as we fought over this blame game, but we did it with zero intention of harming each other.

 

In a moment in the middle of the fight, we both got on our feet and this arrogant girl was smirking at me, I felt my blood boil.

 

“Give up Kazz… You can’t compete against me when it comes to strength!” She said in the most arrogant tone possible, and yet, she had the complete right to be arrogant.

 

Her arrogance made her act in a way no highborn lady should act, she charged against me and I knew she had the intention of restricting me to make me admit defeat, however, this girl didn't know about my escaping abilities, this ability is the one that has helped me to get here and not fall victim of many of the dangers in the world.

 

When she was about to grab me to take me to the ground, I moved as fast as I could in a fraction of a second, and the poor girl didn’t even notice that I moved, she was going too fast and I was about to teach her a lesson in humbleness.

 

“That’s why you shouldn’t be so arrogant—” I was about to say, but suddenly my eyes widened. “Allee, stop!” I screamed at her and I’m sure I looked like a mess.

 

The girl was going too fast to stop herself from entering into the door that had been following us, it was open now, the only thing there was inside the door was some kind of black spiral portal, her body was disappearing as she entered into the weird portal.

 

On any other occasion, I would have let this person fall into this trap, it was her own fault after all, but something inside me forced me to make a risky decision.

 

I ran as fast as I could and I tried to grab her hand, and surprisingly I managed to take her hand, however, something happened and in the end, instead of saving the girl from being sucked into this thing, the portal sucked the two of us.

 

Curiosity #5: There are a lot of mysterious doors in this world, however, it is not recommended to open them, you can get into very awkward situations if you do that.
